Do Andre Ward's accomplishmenst warrant him entry into the HOF? I read an older interview with from his trainer where he said something along the lines of "If his shoulder surgery isn't successful he can just retire and go into the hall of fame." so it looks like that's the line of thinking his camp his going by.
If he retired today (which looks possible right now) this is what he can claim:
-Undefeated
-Wins over best in his division (Froch, Kessler, Abraham)
-Super Six Tournament Winner
-#1/#2 (depending on the list) P4P
What do you guys think. I could see him going into the HOF.
When Ward was on his incredible streak of big wins I thought we were looking at a guy we would be mentioning among the greats when it was all said and done. The fact that there could now be a valid argument that he isn't even hof worthy is just ****ing sad. His style is horrid but there isn't a realistic fight out there where I wouldn't have him as the wide favorite. Dude needs to fight or he will be a sad case of wasted talent.
No, that's just the perception that losers on the internet (like you) have tried desperately to create.
The reason Ward isn't fighting is because he believes Dan Goosen screwed his friend/co-promoter Antonio Leonard by reneging on his word. Risking your career for your friend is the antithesis of selfish. If you weren't a blind, hateful bastard, you too would understand.
I merely said that the public perception of Ward isn't very good right now. If you don't realize that you are just stupid. He has run into a wall everytime he's tried to renege on a contract that he signed. Sorry this caused you to get so nasty and butthurt. Pretty damn sad really.
He is a HOF quality fighter but when you look at his actual career as a whole and how briefly he was at the top before fading away, it doesn't seem like "HOF" material in any sport.
It was a flash in the pan, massively celebrated for being basically the only young American champion larger than a hobbit.
He would have to make a return and possibly move to 175.
Kessler was a bum when he fought Calzaghe. He then turned into something legit when Ward beat him. It's pretty obvious. You motherfuckers still don't give Calzaghe his dues.
What does that even mean?
Why are people saying Froch is the only name on Wards resume? Kessler was the favourite, not only to beat Ward, but also to win the super six. He is arguably the best fighter on Calzaghe's resume + was an established champion in the division.
Ward has many good fighters on his resume like Abraham, Miranda, Bika, Froch, Kessler, Dawson etc.
Not sure if it's hall of fame worthy, but the guy has a solid resume.

Ward has 3 A-level names on his resume; Mikkel Kessler (5x SMW champion), Carl Froch (4x SMW champion), and Chad Dawson (3x LHW champion, former lineal LHW champion).
And 2 B-level names; Arthur Abraham (2-weight champion) and Sakio Bika (former SMW champion).
I don't really rate names like Edison Miranda and Allan Green. We'll see if Edwin Rodriguez makes any noise at LHW to legitimize that victory for Ward.
I agree, but guys like Miranda & Green are OK fillers to have on a resume, but obviously not guys that will make the difference between entering the HOF or not.
Not if he goes out like this. He'd have more respect if he got KO'd and then quit. Right now the perception of Ward is that he is a self centered egomaniac who doesn't care about his fans, or boxing fans in general.
Danny Garcia should be in the Hall of Fame too then, they have the same quality of wins. Froch was a good win, it's really the only he has that is not enough to get anyone in the HoF. Kessler would be a good win if he didn't do everything illegal he could and got a hometown ref to allow it all. And making Dawson come down to SMW invalidated that win from the start. He could be up for vote now though giving how little he fights he's basically retired.
If he retired today he would still get in - but it would be relatively controversial, he would be one of those that some agree with and some not, at the end of the day he has beaten multiple world champions EASILY, and a great world champion and possible HOFer in Froch very one sided also so I feel even though longevity is poor, he would still get in if he finished today. What will probably happen though is he'll get over this legal crap, go on and have more legacy fights, move up in weight and win titles there too and really cement his place.
I think we are yet to see the best of him.

it could be and has been argued that if ppl think froch deserves in the hof, then automatically ward deserves entry since he was/is the superior fighter
if he doesnt fight soon I dont have an issue with him being removed from the p4p list....
if im not mistaken I believe ward was present during the most recent hof events. maybe hes getting ready for his entrance lol...
seriously though... who honestly thinks theres anyone out there 168-175 lbs that can beat ward?
Uh no! Lol beating Froch, headbutting Kessler and a crack head dawson won't cut it IMO. And he should not be #1 on anybody's list. Floyd is number 1. And I can't stand Floyd.
Most def. a shoe in for Hall of Fame.
People saying no are playing politics on Boxingscene, as usual. U got your European Ward haters, GGG fanboys, and other various haters who dont like fighters like Ward for obvious reasons, all sounding off.
The man won a prestigious Super Six (dont need to name the fighters he beat) and cleaned out the Super Middle.
Been the Real Champ at 168 for years. Would be disappointed tho if his career ended this early.
Def. can and should be doing more. To be recognized at P4P 1b and have your career fizzle out is a shame.
I don't see why not.
I mean one of the HOF requirements is that you haven't fought in about, what, 5 years or something right?
Must be about there by now :lol1:
I could see him getting in, but I could understand why he wouldn't get in. There's just a sense there's so much more for him to do. like GO UP TO LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT and take on the best there.
