Just binge watching all their's fight last night is so F^cking beautiful, it just like violence waltz dance. pac throw left Marquez counter, pac feint marquez stop and get caught, marquez move side to side pac catch him with his quick footwork, marquez counter to the body then pac clap his hand again, finally when they all go for the kill atomic bomb explode.
Is not just competition of hearts and mentality from both fighter but also the level of skill, stamina and intensity is at the highest level. First grade entertaiment in my book.
For me the only match-up who can beat this two are Ali-Frazier and Leonard-hearns.
So what your answer to my question above. can any of these youngster recreate this kind of rivalry maybe in 5-6 years to come and who??
Not for a long time, Pacquiao and Marquez fought like if they were from the 80s and 70s, throwing tons of punches, and wanting to prove, they were both going for the KO.
The last great rivalry in boxing hands down.
Its a shame Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez never fought.
If Pacquiao never fought Marquez, Marquez would still be in obscurity and ducked, I remember when Gainer fought him he ran all night like a scared chicken lol, it took a ballsy Filipino southpaw to face the avoided one.
The second fight was so beautiful that it looked like it was rehearsed and scripted. It was a technical / Brawl type of fight and it was so fast paced as if they were fighting in the matrix.
Marquez is not afraid of Pacroid. He knocked him out cold for an entire minute. All he is asking for is a decent peace of the pie. He has been cheated by the judges, he has been cheated in his pay.
So if you want your boi pacquiao to fight Marquez again, send Bob Arum a letter and demand he splits the purse 50-50. That is the only way to get Marquez in the ring.
The question is, ¿How bad does Pacquiao want to avenge his most brutal defeat?
Will he give JMM 60% and he take 40%?
If you are a big Pacquiao fanatic, how much will you offer Marquez to get him in the ring?
How bad do you want to clean that huge stain off of Pacquiaos legacy?
who care about pac's legacy, i just wanna see people get KTFO in the ring
I watched the 3rd fight twice, and had Marquez winning both times. But I thought it was closer the second time I watched it, I didn't realize Pac did a lot better during the second half of the fight when I watched it live.
I thought Marquez won more rounds in the 1st fight, but scored it 113-112 for Pac because of the knockdowns. This is the fight that I've always scored the same way everytime.
The 2nd was my favorite. I always score it slightly differently when I watch it. This fight literally had a one point difference.
The 4th fight, well we know happened there. No debate...
for the third fight at first viewing i scored for marquez too but at second and third viewing i score it for pac and draw, there are so many close round that could go either way i recall there are 4 or 5 rounds like that. i feel many people always underated pac performance in the third fight
IDK the only clear fight i scored are the first, 2nd and 3rd are very close in my book always changed from multiple viewing.
the 4th fight is just awesome, they are not shy away anymore they let it all go in that night, the result is magnificent truly ATG moment

My favorite boxing rivalry. I have a hard time seeing anyone in the current scene that can produce another great rivalry. Gonzalez vs Estrada maybe.
I thought Marquez should have got the nod in the 3rd fight, but any fan who says Marquez was robbed in the first and second fights is either a Pac hater or they just don't know sh1t about boxing.
Close fights that could either way with only a one or two point difference is NOT a robbery.
I'm glad Marquez finally got an official win over Pac and he scored one of the greatest knockouts ever in a high profile fight.

So with the old era (pac, floyd, klitschko) finally At the end.......
honestly when i made this thread i was thinking bradley vs thurmann/garcia/brook, but now the heavier weight class are getting excited too
with whom do you think GGG can have matc-up like this??
IF... and that's a big IF, Chavez Jr can take GGG's power for a while with that iron chin of his, it could be a very fun fight to watch. I think GGG brings out the man out of Chavez and it'll be his Sr throwback moment.
GGG ends up stopping him but I think it's the type of fight where the crowd stands up at the end of the fight and the fighters hug it out with respect for one another.
A rematch could easily be made for financial and entertainment reasons.
I've always thought Donaire/Mares would've been an excellent matchup and could've been a rivalry. But of course we didn't get it when it could've been special.
To answer the question, I would say Roman Gonzalez/Juan Francisco Estrada has a chance to be a great rivalry. Their first fight was really good and competitive and there's reason to believe a rematch would be even better.
It truly is a beautiful matchup. The only ones who don't want to see it are (undercover) Marquez fans.
But I have truly enjoyed the hell out of all 4 fights, these two make for an entertaining matchup every time.
It's up to Juanita to give us one last show before they leave the sport for good.
