Wow,
I was reading an article that ended with comments from Gabriel Peñagarícano indicating or hinting that Miguel may retire after fighting 2 times in 2015!!!
OH NOOOOOOOOoooooooo....!!!!!

cotto should have retired after beating martinez. retire on a big win and making history.
Easy to say that when we're watching from a far.
But more difficult when they're offering you paydays of up to 10 million dollars for your next fight.

Wait you was hoping to see more fights from Cotto in 2016? Why?
Cotto is a great boxer but he doesn't want to fight GGG and he will retire to make sure he doesn't have to.
Miguel will not duck him. I think that he will quiet all when he takes the fight.
If Cotto has taken care of his money he should retire in one year. Why get your brains scrambled and let your reputation take a hit when you are already set for life?

He doesn't need to fight GGG or retire, he still has a lot of options like just moving back to 154 or meet some WW's at a catchweight. He can duck GGG which is best for his health and at the moment it's also better for his wallet.

If he fights and beats Canelo he will get a very good offer to fight Triple G. I heavyly doubt that he will walk away from a great offer and that fight can still be made in 2015
Not exactly surprising. What else is there for Cotto in the sport after another couple (assumed) megafights?
Don't hang around if you don't want to. Cotto has nothing left to prove.
He is at the age where most boxers retire, so why not. Two more big money fights with Alvarez and then -- after he beats Alvarez -- Mayweather. After that, hang up the gloves. Makes perfect sense to me.
Why would he fight the guy who's already beaten him via UD? Another fight with Mayweather is pointless.
Canelo, then GGG or nothing.

I think he has a lot to offer the sport, but if he decides to retire after two big fights, I have no problem with that. Cotto is a smart man, and he understands the dangers of staying around too long. I wish him the best.
I hope not, it'll be a sad day when he does but there's still a lot of fights left for him. Canelo, Floyd 2 (maybe 3) GGG, Bradley (apparently) and even a Canelo rematch or triology. Though I see him schooling Canelo too badly for a rematch.
LOL man, you should know better by now. Cotto HIMSELF has said multiple times in the past that he was going to retire after 1-2 fights and it's been 3 years since the first time he said it.
AS LONG as there are money fights and he feels like a beast, he will continue. Roach rejuvenated his career, he'd be a fool to not ride it out until he notices a decline. I am not worried one bit.

It's going to be tough, seeing all these greats from this era retire in the next few years. Floyd, Manny, Cotto, BHop, Froch :( . Whether you like or dislike these fighters individually, we're at the tail end of an era. I never did like change.
