Read the article, i cant post the link yet.
Very, very interesting article shedding further light on Al Haymon and how he is not looking out for the best interests of his fighters. I'll summarize.
1. The WBC continues to postpone purse bids for the Stiverne/Wilder fight to appease Haymon (no explanation needed) and Don King (who has made millions and millions for the WBC in the past). Ok, we know that.
2. Wilder and Robert Guerrero did have legitimate contracts with Golden Boy, but now are essentially free agents being represented by Haymon. Golden Boy is basically a sham promoter for Wilder now because his contract had a "key person" clause which stated he could opt out of the GB contract if Richard Shaeffer left the company.
3. With knowledge of this, Roc Nation approached Wilder with a huge promotional contract that he and his other manager (who apparently has zero power) were very interested in. It was a huge contract with a guarantee of $2M for the Stiverne fight. If there is a purse bid it would have to be over $7M for the fight for Wilder to get paid that much....and nobody is going to bid that much.
4. Wilder's manager who I guess is just a manager in name only told Roc Nation that such a deal would have to be signed off by Haymon.
5. Obviously, Haymon was not receptive to such a deal, considering that it benefits his fighter more than himself.
6. This is not in the article but what Haymon is doing is VERY ILLEGAL. He is acting as a promoter under the disguise of an advisor/manager and is not looking out for the best interests of the fighters which he "advises". Fortunately for him, his fighters are too dumb to realize this but considering events that have taken place lately (like the Quillen situation, the bribing of mandatories and sanctioning bodies) it seems like its only a matter of time before fighters start to catch on. If anyone in the government cared he would have been indicted a long time ago. This guy is trying his best to kill boxing and some idiots actually support him.
Again, please show me a fighter bad mouthing Haymon. Good luck.
I bet you didn't even know who Donald Sterling was until the scandal went full blast to the media. Do all the rest of Cuban's peers do interviews? You know who the other NBA team owners are? Nope!
The Buss family owns the Lakers, Dan Gilbert owns the Cavs, Jerry Jones owns the Cowboys... I could go on and on. Also, name me a basketball player who's talked sh*t about an owner while under contranct? Or any league for that matter, no one is going to talk sh*t about their boss publicly for fear of being fired not because they think he's a good guy. Why don't you hear people say bad things about Floyd while under his payroll? It's no different here.
I can see 10 years from now, guys like Floyd, wilder, quillen all sueing haymon for money once they have burnt thru their own..
These guys will be broke in 10 years and looking for some cash and they will all comeback with lawsuits vs haymon claiming he mislead them, and he didn't fully disclose all the money options, etc
As far as the purse bid ,Roc sports seems to be going out of their way to create discontent and stir the pot among Haymons stable, probably with the blessing Of HBO trying some divide & conquer tactics. I mean if it's already known that Jay & Haymon have previous tensions what makes you think Haymkns going to hand over his fighters for him to make $. And why is Roc sports so far only going after Haymon fighters purse bids?
Those poor Haymon fighters drowning in cash offered by Roc nation
But all we can do is wait and see what Haymon has in store for his fighters but yeah right now a lot of the moves are making you say "WTF!"
I'm willing to give Haymon the benefit of the doubt until we see his plans finally unfold. It's crazy how his fighters are starting to turn down huge paydays, though....he better have something really good in store for them to make it worth it.
Still, I am glad to see boxing writers starting to dig a little more and ask tough questions. We need more of that in this sport. Not just because of Haymon but because of people like Bob Arum too.
Sports journalists have to be willing to do their job and investigate things, they can't be afraid that they'll get blackballed by the powers that be.
I really don't get it, what does Haymon have over everyone? I mean dude is like a mob boss they way he just punks virtually everyone in boxing
That's what I'm saying, the guy has a shady past, one filled with stories of people being threatened and worse. The guy never wants to be on film or out in public more than necessary. Does shady stuff and seems to control a lot more than one boxing "adviser" rightfully should control, yet no one says a word to him. Same type activity as a mob member would display.
So if Haymon is so good how come Rihanna and Beyonce told him to GTFO? The only reason Haymon is in boxing is because he couldn't cut in the music industry so now he's bringing his shady business ethics to this sport and it hasn't worked out that well for him actually. He got booted from HBO (the number boxing network) went to Showtime and now is apparently going to go back with NBC. Though, not on HBO he is trying to get on NBC Sports what a great businessman alright, but hey, he doesn't do media interviews so he must be a genius. I mean it's not like Bill Gates, Mark Cuban and Donald Trump do interviews, it would be bad for business.

I understand this viewpoint COMPLETELY. I just can't fathom how he could produce an end to these means that would be worth it, for the fighters let alone the fans.
I've seen the particulars of the NBC arrangement and on paper the money just isn't there to justify this stuff he's been doing. I hope I'm wrong, for boxing's sake because I think all he's done is **** the sport over and wasted everyone's time.
I just don't see how you can't feel uncomfortable with this man. He literally doesn't even show his face, doesn't do interviews, obviously forces his fighters to thank him after fights. These fighters are thanking Haymon BEFORE they thank GOD ffs!
I'm not saying everyone needs to think he's just straight up evil, but you have to admit his behavior is clearly on some shady shit.
Well the Money he been able to help get for Mayweather is what people are comfortable with him. TV Dates, the Paydays for Berto when Berto was fighting Bums on HBO lol
Also because his track record and his success as a Business Man long before Boxing is what people in Business and Networks and others know him for. A man that basically forced Live Nation to buy half of his company because when Hip Hop and R&B Concerts started doing well they found out that a major reason for that was because of Haymon Promotions. Most of the Top Hip Hop Acts still work with Haymon for their Concerts/Tour
But Boxing Fans know him mostly because he is Connected to Mayweather but Haymon was doing well before working with Mayweather.
I think after seeing the money him and Mayweather been able to make, nobody is going to question him, if anything it makes fighters curious and they want to know how can they possibly one day make that type of money.
It is not about Defending Haymon but fans are not using any logic or common sense what so ever, all they see is "He Is Attached To Mayweather So He Must Bad Also!". Why are people upset that he does to Networks like HBO what they been doing to fighters FOR YEARS, EXPLOITING THEM! He makes sure that those networks take care of their fighters and compensate them, what exactly is wrong with that?
Yes Networks and other Promoters hate Smart and Savvy Managers because Smart and Savvy Managers you have to open the books with them, you can't do what Don King did to Tyson when you have a Managers like Haymon or even Cameron Dunkin guys who know WTF they're doing and are not push overs looking to make a fast buck for themselves and their fighters
Any true businessman is supposed to stay behind the scenes and play more of an anonymous role. He shouldn't be doing interviews. And he doesn't force fighters to thank him. It's the fighters themselves that thank him because usually he is the one responsible for giving them their biggest paydays. When you are a fighter who used to fight for pennies and now you're getting 6-figure paydays, you will thank him immediately unless you're ungrateful.
Haymon has been around for YEAAAARS, and you cannot find a single fighter bad mouthing the guy. Not a single one.

One thing I find interesting black people joc Harmon like he's a god or something.
What is it with all these racist post? I'm a black person and I could give a rats nutz about Al Haymon!

Thank you Al Haymon, for stopping these fights. Making Qullin, drop his belt and career high payday for nothing. And thank you fro the great classics you have been feeding us aka Garcia vs 66th ranked light weigh Rod Salka.
Haymon is lucky that his fighters are loyal to him and trust him that much, most fighters would have jump at those offers that Quillin and Wilder gotten
the being said you have to think LONG TERM as well, they can run off and take those big Paydays for 1 Fight but then what happens to them once that fight over or if they lose that fight WTF will happen with their careers
But all we can do is wait and see what Haymon has in store for his fighters but yeah right now a lot of the moves are making you say "WTF!"
Maybe all of this ties into the NBC Deal, maybe he gets that fight on Network TV if they keep pushing it back. He is the Business Man who the fuk am I to question him and tell him he doesn't know WTF he is doing

Well we already know what he's probably done for wilder. Did u guys forget about that incident where he supposedly choked sum hoe? Things like that don't go away cheap. But yet when's the last time u heard about it?
Good point. This is probably what Haymon does. Certain things for certain people behind the scenes and then you just pretty much are indebted to the guy.
We dont know that yet. For all we know he could drop this Haymon Boxing thing and it could be the greatest thing we have ever seen. Or could be crap but point is we dont know yet
LOL, don't hold your breath on that one man.
:lol1: He's like a tanned Hoover ... got dirt on everybody
:lol1: made me spit out my Sierra Mist
al haymon is a criminal who is bankrolling his legit enterprises with dope money.
you guys will know soon enough.
Your nonsensical posts consistently bear witness that you just bang away at the keyboard, and don't give a fuck how stupid you sound. I'm guessing real life carries over into all you do ....... :nonono:
