Can't believe he's not already in to be honest, two weight world champ and it's not like Benn didn't travel to the US (KO'd DeWitt & Barkley) or beat a PFP rated US opponent in McClellan.
He really won that second Eubank fight too, Eubank even admitted as much.
Truth is Benn and Eubank should of both been in a long time ago.
Former middleweight and super middleweight champion, Nigel Benn deserves consideration. He had a great career that culminated with him defeating Gerald McClellan in what ring magazine called the greatest super middleweight fight of all time. That fight was brutal and hard to watch, I'd consider putting both fighters in for that fight alone. The aftermath for MClelelan was tragic and also it signaled the end for Benn as an elite fighter who should have hung them up after that fight. In a way, it was the sort of fight that fans dream of but when it actually happens, they regret having got what they wished for. Two warriors and great fighters.

LOL... I thought we were talking about Frankie Genaro. My mistake!
Hahaha...yeah, he was definitely eligible in 1998. and 1997. The day it opened. Slam dunk HOFer.

1998 was his last fight. wasn't even eligible until 2003.

I'm not sure, what you mean by this... do we not agree, that Genaro was inducted in 1998??
Inducted to the International Boxing Hall of Fame? No. He hasn't been. This is the first time he was on the ballot. Maybe the old World Hall, but that hasn't had a class in years. It's basically defunct and never had brick and mortar. You can see the list of inductees here. He ain't on it:

Do you think Genaro will ever get elected?/QUOTE]
He's already in - and has been for many years (since 1998).
This is the first time he's ever been on the IBHOF ballot.
Thanks for voting for Hamed. If people can get past their bias they'd clearly see that he should have already been in years ago.
I didn't vote for him first or second time I saw him. His impact and accomplishments merit induction.
Thanks for the response..
Can you explain some of the old timers achievements, and why you chose the 5 guys you did..
Booker was a beast who would likely have done more but for an injury too early. Beat Williams, Marshall, knocked out Moore and they had a good series. Been waiting to see his name. First time he was on.
The rest are all holdovers who I want to see cleared before I look at new ones. The one I lost from the ballot this year is Harry Jeffra. Gutted me. I'm a big advocate he should be in.
Kingpetch was the first Thai champ and beat two HOFers (Perez and Harada) and regained from Ebihara after a disaster in their first. Beautiful boxer when he was on.
Betulio Gonzalez was a huge piece of a great 112 era in the 70s, beat prime Canto, Espadas and a slew of others. Fought EVERYONE.
Ohba is the Japanese Sal Sanchez, a great fighter with several quality wins who died before he could finish his stamp. Overdue.
Gushiken was the first really great champ at 108 and dominated for a solid stretch. Great reign.
That's my vote thinking.
Bow's two wins over Holy make him one of the top 25 Heavyweights all time IMO. Put aside P4P...Heavyweight is literal. I take that into account. I'd vote for Vitali Klitschko when he came up as well.
Laciar was a fantastic fighter with wins over some high quality guys like Roman and Zapata with a significant, quality reign at 112. He was not the ballot before Benn etc. so that weighed for him (and some others). If I was voting for them before, I mostly stuck with them. They've waited longer and none are slam dunk first ballot.
I lobbied hard for Benn and Eubank to be up at least for a vote over the years and will consider them in another year. Voting for just five is tough. I've never voted for Curry but have begun to reconsider that.
And what is it you want to know on Old Timers?
Thanks for the response..

Is there a maximum amount of time that you can be a nominee? For example in baseball, you have something like 15 years on the ballot, and then you can only be elected by the Veteran's Committee, is there something similar for boxing?
He may. Lot of people loved him. I wouldn't vote for him. I don't think he quite reached that caliber.
There is no max time currently.
Can you explain your old timers pick
And also why you chose some guys like bowe, lacier over guys like Eubanks, curry, etc..
What was your deciding factor..
Just curious
