Pac fought at 130 in 2008 and was no longer a one-two merchant at that point.
I don't know about that. They kept touting all these new weapons and not being one-dimensional going into that 2008 Marquez fight and the same flaws were exposed. And Marquez's body attack wore Manny down that fight too.
So does Marquez and morales and they had success vs manny, and jcc at 130 was a higher caliber fighter than both of those guys..
The version of manny we saw in 08,09 could beat the 140/47 version of Chavez but the 130 Chavez circa 85-86 vs the 130 manny circa 05, Chavez would beat him with the jab, straight right, body shots, and ability to take a good shot.. Manny was still an incomplete fighter at 130, whereas Chavez was a boxing machine

As much as I love Erik Morales, he would've been manhandled by Chavez. Barrera as well. Chavez below 140 was dominant -- the undefeated pound for pound king year after year. Sh*t, even on his last legs he still managed to give a peaking, 25-year-old De La Hoya a good fight. Lightweight Chavez had cracking power, an educated attack with a focus on the body, a very sharp boxing brain, iron chin and excellent in-fighting skills. Pacquiao at or above 140 would be an entirely different story but below that I go with Chavez to win decisively.
Definitely agree there, Pacquiao may have been at his best at 140 without us even knowing.
Exactly, I mean Morales' body punches troubled Pacquiao and Erik isn't nearly as refined going to the body as was Chavez. On top of that we're talking about an ATG chin here, which will allow Chavez to move at his own pace and win the exchanges. Not to mention, the right hand.

Chavez would beat manny at 130 just like morales did..
Good enough chin to take manny's bombs
Good enough ring generalship to dictate fight and exploit manny's bad habits
Good straight right
Body shots
Overall boxing skill...

This tells me you've never seen a Chavez fight in your life. Chavez was remarkably slick for a swarmer.
Reassured me of why he's on my ignore list.
Pacquiao hasn't faced anyone who's that refined from close quarters and the biggest load of bull on these boards is how anyone who comes at Pacquiao gets destroyed. Mayweather would have proven this had it taken place but that's another story, Chavez UD.
Exactly my sentiments....JCC loves to go TOE-TO-TOE and exactly how Pac loves it.
That's exactly how Chavez loved it too. Not to mention he was 100 times the better in-fighter.
And just on the by and by, I'm not knocking people picking Manny to win at 130, as if anybody gives a shit.
But to give an argument compelling a Pac victory over Sr. while comparing him to Margarito is just plain ignorant.
Slow and plodding are not what come to mind watching JCC at '30.
I agree " if " one is comparing them in quality, that'd be an insult to chavez sr... but when comparing style, dont think its ridiculos as long as it stays only there, not counting ring smarts,defense,etc.. ..they were both effective close range, and it should stop there...the comparison imo was only to have a simple basis on how one see it playing out..

jcc did not fight like morales or jmm tho so their "calibers" has no bearing when determining how jcc would fair vs manny, unless he fought like one of em..
with pac vs jcc fight, i think it's safe to say that hed be the agressor ( duh, pressure fighter for a reason) and jcc has struggled vs fighters with superior footwork or mobile fighters by style..this is not to say pac would do a sweetpea on him but with pac's footwork and in and out style, the approach would be somewhat similar but without the dipsy doo(pac's version would be stepping out of range),minus the inside fighting and finesse but with more power on offense..we know that come forward fighters play into pac's style very well...
and i think it's only fair when matching fighters to do so prime for prime and i beleive weight doesnt matter much since theyre about the same size anyways.imo

Good post!
No disrespect to the great chavez, but i think pacquiao is all wrong for him..jcc sr is one of the best swarmers ever but with pac's footwok and speed, the in and out movement , dont think hed be able to keep up...this is not to say pac is the superior fighter, just a matter of styles..pac by clear decision imo..

JCC is tailor made for pacquiao. pac eats up guys who come right at him.
pac by wide UD.

Respectfully, while the Barrera win catapulted him, the Pacquiao who fought at 126-130 was quite flawed. Guys with solid beards, counter-punching skills and POWER like Chavez or Nelson would've taken his head off. Hell, I suspect he would've had problems with Hamed.
Manny would have annihilated Hamed. Chavez/Pacquiao would have been a 50/50 fight. Both hit like a mule and both their styles would mesh greatly to produce an all out war. Did you guys know that Chavez was a lefty turned righty tighty
has chavez sr ever faced anyone like pacquiao? nope not even close. the closest pac has come to fighting a chavez sr is 5'11" 170lb margarito. if someone as big and imposing as margarito struggled to corner and pressure pac then so will a small chavez sr. ricky hatton tried to corner and pressure pac and he got flattened. margarito got his eye busted up trying to pressure pac.
pac's speed, movement, power would easily keep chavez sr off of him. pac will use his angles as well to confuse the slow plodding chavez sr.
people forget how much of a slow plodder chavez sr was and how much trouble he had with quick speedy fighters like pernell and taylor.
So you're comparing Chavez to Margarito and Pacquiao to Pernell? LOL:nonono:
a "legend" who fought mostly journeyman and mediocre fighters. and yes he always was a slow plodder.
seriously what does chavez sr bring that would trouble pac? nothing. chavez sr brings nothing that would trouble pac.
again the truth is anyone who comes forward and pressures pac gets beat up and badly. is this not the truth?
Yeah, you have definitely lost it. Your responses are meaning less and less as you continue your ignorance.
