I'm not saying he shouldn't be, but I'm curious as to the opinions of various members on this site, especially those who know boxing and are old enough to have seen guys like Ali and so on fight. Why is Joe Louis often ranked as a top 10 ATG and in most cases as the second best heavyweight ever?
You always have to consider whether Wlad will be allowed to cheat. There aren't many fighters who can beat him when he can cheat but his opponents can't.
A lot of the infighting has been taken out of boxing today. The same shift has been made in boxing as has been made in all contact sports. Rough housing has been minimised and technical aspects maximised.
It's well established you are a hater with your comments but let me tell you, there was much MORE cheating going on back in Louis's day than there is in Wladimir's. Dudes used to even load up there gloves for Christ sake and your worried about some excessive clinching!
If these opponents didn't rush in they wouldn't be held, simple!
Louis against the wlad of a few years ago is a clear and easy win for Louis. But against the current wlad I think he'd have a tough time simply due to the fact that wlad is so much bigger and is now very adept at stunting and spoiling smaller men. I'd still favor louis but with no great confidence.

Yeah that's why James Toney studied Charles and Walcott so much #sarcasm
Look I have no time to fight with people with no facts to give, just like you, so I will explain it to you just once: Walcott defense was about the distance and he controled it with his feet like MANY fighters of his era. If you want to stay inside the whole night of course you should keep your hands up, but if you are a master at controlling the distance you are not obligated to keep them high.
Let me give you two other examples: I mentioned James Toney, to me he's in top 3 defensive boxers ever, the other two are Locche and Whitaker even though they did the things which could make you say that "they fight like some dumbasses". They often used to circle to the side of power hand of their opponents, instead of circling outside of their opponent's front foot, and yet they are considered as supreme defense masters...
That's just the point Stefan.
Guys like Toney, Byrd etc, took from Walcott and Charles etc, used their strengths, built on it and made themselves better than what came before. That's how it always works!

2 mistakes..
Joe is so lacking in length and speed and slickness and strength that Wladimir would be able to keep him at bay as long as he liked. He did not have the skills to close the gap or the strength/durability to bull his way in like Povetkin. In the event Louis could close the gap, and found himself in a Wlad hold, he would be chucked across the ring like a child.
Joe Louis would be the smallest and weakest opponent Wladimir has ever faced in 65 fights! Fact!
Your 2nd ridiculous statement was that Louis was one of then hardest punchers ever.
How is it physically possible that a 205lb guy can hit harder than a 250lb fighter with much better training to hit hard and sharp than his predecessor? It isn't, simply!
1. Joe Louis would do what carrie sanders did,, use quick hands and combos.. Louis may not stop wlad early like sanders did but he would def do damage to wlad..
I think it's a tough fight to call because wlad is so much bigger and is skilled with the jab, but he does have mechanical flaws and Louis could exploit it
2. Never said Louis was one of the hardest punchers, but that he was one of the best punchers, in terms of timing, combinations, technique much like how Marquez is a great puncher but not consider a power puncher per se
Wlad may be effective using the clinch like he did vs Povetkin, but it would be his downfall as Louis would figure this out after a few rounds and would time wlad as he clinched and would drop bombs in combination that a clinching wlad would never see coming..
Joe Louis was one of the best punchers ever, especially in combination, and he would would fake going inside, wlad would bite and start to clinch, Louis would take half a step back and to the side and open up a combo on a vulnerable clinching wlad..

And you'd lose your money in the process.
Instead of your tongue in cheek replies have you actually thought about it reasonably though?
You KNOW that Ross was a very tough and very strong guy, if nothing else!
When did Walcott ever beat someone of Ross's calibre?
We know that PRimo was shaky chinned and not hard to hit, when did he ever survive anybody as built and durable as Ross?
And of the few big boxers that Louis beat, were any of them really better than Ross? No, not really. Not at all. Baer was shockingly bad. Primo was a joke, and Simon :lol1:
Come on man, give it up.
These boxers your trying to promote are indefensible in light of common sense.
Except that it never happens to prime Vlad, he would find himself in a big, nice, warm bear hug, and Vlad would use his 45 lbs weight advantage to push little Joe down and drain his energy.
Vlad would massacre Joe Louis and KO him badly. Joe Louis was a very stationary fighter, he didn't move around well and was very hittable. Vlad would probably rock him badly with his very first 1-2.
Louis was knocked out by little Max Schmeling, ffs.

Yet he got KTFO... seems his technique didn't work, not even against a stationary fighter like Louis.
Walcott fought like a dumbass, btw. Standing in front of him with his hands down.

It was TheGreatA, he did a Wlad one as well.
What exactly would the point of these videos be? Vitali hammered Sam Peter in style, no matter how you twist and turn it. And he would absolutely maul Joe Louis, whether the video is grainy or HD.
It was TheGreatA, he did a Wlad one as well.
God the evolution of heavyweight boxing...
Pouring jab, no right hands, no body shots, hardly any hooks.
But they're SO much better.
Once again. Ross Puritty is a bummy boxer. But he is still more skilful than Primo, as well as being...
1/ More powerful
2/ More experienced
3/ Stronger
4/ Fitter
5/ Tougher.. MUCH Tougher!
Than Primo.
I would bet comfortably on Ross Puritty to beat Primo Carnera, Joe Louis, Joe Walcott and ALL of that eras boxers.
And you'd lose your money in the process.
Your whole post was a complete mess but ive highlighted the parts where you sounded most retarded.
I'm done with this now bro. You can go on thinking Wlad is invincible if you want
Some claim Larry Holmes has a better jab but it's not really better in any way.
Lennox Lewis had a comparable jab, but it was not as sharp demonstratably as Wladimir's.
And that's it. Nothing else is even in the neighbourhood at HW.
Just look at it! ffs.

He's trolling. At least I hope so. You learn pretty quick not to bother.

Awesome. Green.
I wish people (people who actually want to debate, not idiots and trolls) would keep this in mind when watching older videos of fighters. Honestly, what's the difference here from crappy video of a Louis or Dempsey fight? Where is the great gap in skill that people seem to think exists?
You think Wladimir is stylistically similar to Carnera now?
There is one similarity. They are approximate in height and weight. That is where the similarities exactly end.
The QUALITY of their size is even completely different. Carnera was acromegalic. Wladimir is a naturally big guy who has muscled right up. Carnera barely trained. Wladimir is an ultra athlete.
Now we can move on to skills. Carnera had almost exactly no skills whatsoever, he was just a plodder, like a smallert, less skilled version of Valuev. Wladimir is the most skilled technical giant of all time.
Stylistically Primo's style was to plod forward and try to hit his opponent. Wladimir's style has been described as "complete stylistic shutdown of the opponent". In other words no matter what the opponent tried to do, he has an answer for everything. That's why he is virtually invincible now.
Primo had a slow, sloppy jab. Wladimir has the best jab of all time by far.
Louis is a 200 lb plodder. a style which today is acceptable for a 240lber only.
At 200lb it is basically impossible to enter the HW division but at the very least one would need to be more like Chris Byrd.
Primo Carnera :lol1:
Your post was not worth a single drop of piss in the desert and was extremely insulting to WK!

Yeah.
I remember a video posted on here where someone took Vitali Klitschko fights and made them all grainy, I figured I'd Google search to see if I could find it quick. Ended up on probably the most disturbing site I've ever seen, with a thread called "N****** Getting Their Asses Kicked." Lots of Klitschko love for beating up Shannon Briggs in there.
I should not have Google searched Vitali Klitschko Grainy Video.
