Hopkins didn't "ruin" anybody.
To say he "ruined" Dawson by quitting against him the first time and then getting thoroughly outboxed the second time after he'd already been beaten up by Pascal is just outright ridiculous.
I disagree with Taylor being on the list he beat Hopkins twice what was ruined?
Let's look at his resume prior to Hopkins a bunch of blown up LT.Middles then after Hopkins...interesting more blown up Lt.Middles it's just they were good ones, could've lost to Winky and the Spinks fight was closer than expected.
First big strong Middle he faced he got destroyed by.
If you think about it how does such an accomplished great like Hopkins lose to a Jermain Taylor so he ruined him by losing to him making everyone think he's better than he actually was.
Impressive he stopped him in 2 with such ease if there is one thing Cloud has going for him its durability.
Good win especially in only his 6th pro fight but Cloud sucks. Nobody ruined him he has always been poor.
Would love to see Beterbiew vs Egor Mekhontsev in the near future.
Campillio did the exact same thing before Hopkins.
I was about to say the same thing, Campillo deserves the credit in this case - usually it Hopkins but this time it's definitely Campillo who destroyed Cloud.
He lost that fight and got away with a robbery so undeniable that his mother literally feinted in the ring when the scorecards were read because she was so sure he had lost that the shock of her son getting away with that robbery literally KOd her!
whether he won or lost to johnson makes no difference, the point is he fought his heart out. like i wrote before, whatever ability he had he made the most out of it unlike his performances against stevenson and berbetiev in particular. dude clearly came to lie down in that one.
he was giving his all against hopkins as well, he just couldnt figure him out. didnt have the skills, talent or smarts but the will was still there until hopkins stripped him of it.
Campillio did the exact same thing before Hopkins.
Hopkins did nothing to Cloud, Cloud got his spirit and soul taken from Campillio in the robbery of the year.
And I thought he lost to Glen Johnson aswell.

The phrase is (or used to be) "he takes their soul" :lol1:
This is one of those odd things where the idea is obviously not true (it's not like he beats their asses down and ruins them physically) but if you actually look at the fighters, and their careers after fighting B-Hop.....so many of them fall off big-time :lol1:
Maybe some of them weren't good to start with?
cloud wasnt terrible, he wasnt all that good but he was a decent fighter. he did beat glen johnson for a title when the road warrior still had some left in the tank.
regardless of how good someone thinks cloud was there is no doubt hopkins ruined whatever he did have. cloud was basic, but he was durable and tough as nails. this guy who seemed more than willing to lay down and give in is not the same ferocious lion who went to war with johnson for 12 rounds.
hopkins took his spirit, which is what made him win a title considering his limited skills and talent.
hopkins took a lot of confidence from pascal, no his style hasnt changed but thats seldom how a fighter is ruined. a fighter is ruined physically from taking a beating or mentally by losing confidence. hopkins makes guys feel completely helpless in the ring, he is always one step ahead of them.
i remember after the first fight pascal got real animated at one point screaming "hes got no, speed, hes got no power he doesnt have anything!". yet this old man without anything beat him. hopkins outsmarts people to the point where they second guess themselves for the rest of their careers, thats what happened to pascal. he has the same style but he fights without conviction. cloud has the same ability but he fights without confidence.
pascal has been diminished and cloud ruined by hopkins.
winky i agree with.

Cloud was terrible long before Hopkins schooled him.
Pascal is pretty much the same "poor man's Roy Jones" now that he was before the Hopkins loss.
Winky was already well past his prime when he fought Hopkins and the fight was actually pretty close so I highly doubt it "ruined" him.

Well Hopkins isn't going to be the same after all those fights. Let's not ignore that he's having speech problems already, trouble finding words, not really slurring, but speaking slowly and unable to find the words he's looking for to complete a sentence. He's a little spaced out..it's only a matter of time and it's going to really break my heart. Why is he still fighting, is it for his legacy and glory or for money, or both? Does he even need the money? Does he have tax problems or is he legit concerned about his legacy in the sport of boxing?
What? Hopkins is one of the most well spoken and articulate people in boxing.
No no no, Hopkins doesn't get credit for this. If anyone "ruined" Cloud, it was Campillo.
And how the hell can you justify Dawson on that list? How was Dawson never the same after Hopkins? Winky and Oscar, too. None of those names belong on there.
Pascal doesn't belong on there either he's Carl Froch's left overs.
Dawson and Taylor beat Hopkins :lol1: The "pascal ruined" version of Dawson.
This whole "Hopkins ruins fighters" is so dumb.
No he didn't ruin Cloud, Cloud's just not very good.

The curse of Bernard Hopkins claims another victim.
Let's coun't 'em:
Trinidad
Jermaine Taylor
Pavlik
Tarver
Winky
Dawson
Pascal?
Cloud

De La Hoya belongs on the list too.
Although true, let's not pretend that De La Hoya wasn't past his prime and entering his twilight years of his career. He was also fighting at an uncomfortably high weight class for him against Hopkins. Also, he looked sluggish against Sturm, and probably shouldn't have even made it to Hopkins as he didn't deserve the win against Sturm. He did bounce back and won a Light Middleweight title and did give Mayweather a decent scrap. Not too bad.
