There are some question marks as there are with any prospect getting early knockouts as he is like his chin, stamina etc. He's built like someone who would seem slow but he looks very fast with his combinations.
In the olympics he didn't impress me tbh but you could say the pro game is more suited to his strengths. He definitely has potential and I think Hughie Fury would give him a good fight, less hype with Hughie because he don't get early KO's and the gold medal popularity but he's got legit skills.
Your thoughts?
Seems like there are big expectations for Joshua, not only to win a title but to go even further... I hope i am wrong and he achieves greatness but i'm very skeptical, time will tell.
David Price another big man with similar attributes who was a bust is still fresh in a lot of people's heads but I think AJ is far stronger mentally! Still its the Heavys and he could well get chinned or those big muscles might turn against him when their stacked with lactic acid...

I think AJ is doing all the right things and giving himself the best possible grounding to make a run as/ to champ.
Of course as others have said the best made plans can go AWOL in the heavies but he seems to know where he is and what he needs to do.
Don't see him chatting rubbish etc.
And there lies his cross over appeal.if he can make it he will make it big.
He hasn't had a big occasion as a pro yet but i agree he is disciplined, great strength and eager to learn.
He kinda has man, been on big shows from the get go, sky tv in his face in the dressing room before he goes out, big expectations and hype can weigh on a young fighter but not him. After the Olympics, winning Gold in your own country no less, everything is on a smaller stage.
I think he will go pretty far. . . He does seem quite prone to injury though, so pending that of course. . . However if you watch interviews with him, he knows he has alot to learn, but has a nice sense of self confidence (mind you if you had that physique lol) . Early days but he's doing what has been asked of him so far.
I like him.
Probably pick up a few world belts, and get stopped along the way here or there.
It's the HW division.
You get tagged, and your night can end very quickly.
I think he is the heir apparent to wlad..
Him and wlad sparring reminds me of when Ali used Holmes as a sparring partner.
By the time wlad retires, Joshua will be there to take the mantle.. I think after the wlad era, we will have the Joshua era and he will be a hall of famer, especially after he sells out wembley on a few occasions..
By 2017-18 he will be the money name at heavy
there are plenty of areas in which he needs to improve but the mere fact that he got this far in such a short period of time shows he has an incredible learning curve. he is not only a natural athlete but a natural fighter, composed and methodical but with a real mean streak.
he seems to ave a ll the right people around him, his trainers are teaching him how to fight from the ground up starting with fundamentals rather than relying on his physicality too much.
he has a lot of improvements to make if he is to fulfill even the most modest expectations, but he has plenty of time to do it. im always going on about wilder and how he is so immensely talented but isnt doing the right things to fulfill his potential, joshua while very talented in his own right doesnt compare to wilder in that regard. but he is doing things the right way and i think he can fulfill his potential.
it will be very intriguing watching him progress. i hope he becomes champ, THE champ. it would be great for boxing and as a person he seems to deserve it, bright and legitimately humble guy.
Regards Joshua's chin; Airich caught him with a solid punch in round 2 of their fight and Joshua took it, even grinned back at Airich.
Airich has 17 KO's from his 21 wins. I know those wins were against bums, but he still got 17 KO's so he does possess some power. Here's the punch:

I think AJ will become a Heavyweight champion one day, undisputed possibly. He has one of the best jabs i've seen for a fair time, and he has solid power.
too stiff i guess. a bit of robot dimension to hes style. he was beaten three times in the olympics, but because the decision probloby was corrupt he won gold.
He will be champ but he is not all that great. His upper body is too big. He is slightly stiff. Compare Joshua on the bag to a young Iron Mike. Mike was a million times faster, more fluid and more powerful. I do not like stiff fighters.
Im a fan. I also want him to succeed too because he will be a great ambassador for the sport and a Heavyweight Champion people will be interested in and support. I try not to be biased though and I fear that he'd tire late in fights with those huge arms and general bulk and we are still unclear of his chin at this point
The pluses are he's huge, strong as an Ox, can bang, has disciple and spite in seemingly equal measure so far, has taken any shot to the chin in the manner that suggests his chin is good though the punches haven't exactly been of the Mike Tyson variety, He uses the long jab, he go's with uppercuts, and doesn't neglect the body which is great to see from a big man and he throws clever fluid combinations. His temperament is great too, so calm even on big nights, he's a guy who wont let the occasion get to him (as Mr Mayweather says -Its about doing it when the bright lights are on) He also appears enthusiastic to learn and sparring the likes of Klitschko will only further his development as will his busy fight shedule

Why couldn't you have posted in the existing AJ thread?
Because that's about him Ko'ing his next opponent and i can't add a poll for my question in that thread, well that's what i assumed.
