Obviously I think any fight between these two would be extremely close and a fascinating contest. How'd you reckon these two would face up at Super bantam? I'd find it genuinely impossible to call a fight between these two.

Rigo hasn't proven crap.
Almost every star in boxing and some who aren't stars have had one or even two big wins.
But that doesn't prove greatness. Pac is proven.
Over 15 years a fighter is kicking ass and beating names ...longevity proves a lot.
Yet another stupid thread.......
This thread is stupid! You guys make fantasy fights out of anyone. Smh. It just doesn't make any sense sometimes BUT what has GR done to make you think he beats Manny??? I personally would like to see a rematch with Donaire. Donaire was a bit drained and it affected his performance that night. In a rematch, it may look different. If ND can knock him down, Manny can knock him out.
Still has a speed and size advantage over Rigondeaux.
I don't think Pac is faster than Rigo,...Rigo might actually be a little faster...
but the gif in your signature is genius.
This thread right here shows the bias of this forum.
No it really doesn't,..
It's basically a pick'em fight between 2 great fighters... Not hard to argue for either side
rigo would outclass him and knock him out. have you even seen pacquiao at 122lbs?
its not the same fighter he was after roach got his hands on him. roach made him great, before that he was good but nothing all that special. a special talent for sure, a diamond in the rough. but way too rough to compete with let alone defeat a fighter of rigondeauxs caliber. way too raw and one dimensional, didnt have the smarts or the skills to give rigo problems of any kind.
Pac/Rigondeaux would be one helluva fight. Manny was reckless at the lower weights but that's precisely what made him so dangerous and dominant. Rigo is as close to perfection when it comes to technique and counter punching.
The name Marquez has come up repeatedly as the basis of arguing or proving that Rigondeaux would overwhelm Pacquiao simply based on the fact he's a better counterpuncher. You have to take into account that Marquez went through hell and back just to survive those fights and had to get off the mat repeatedly while also fight with broken nose. Also the difference in their counter punching approach. Rigondeaux delivers powerful single shots for the most part while Marquez lets his hand go and reels off combinations.
Assuming Rigondeaux would be able to overcome those obstacles and show the same heart and determination would be a mistake since he's never proven he has that dog inside of him. Obviously that's not his fault since he's never been truly pushed, but in a fantasy fight Rigondeaux would definitely need to go through hell to beat Pacquiao and I just don't see that happening.
Well, you broke down the mechanics of it :fing02:
remember at 122, Manny had no jab, no left hook and depended on that left hand..he had crazy speed and power but no head movement or good later movement....he has evolved into a much better boxer now
Still has a speed and size advantage over Rigondeaux.
Pacquaio was getting hurt by scrub fighters in his home country at this weight. Rigondeaux is going to absolutely knock Pacquaio the **** out. Not only is he always balanced to throw that powerful straight left, he also has superior footwork and intelligence than PAC and anyone he's ever fought. People need to do some research and stop acting like PAC was not beatable. Freddie Roach comments on Rigondeaux should let all of you know that PAC even at his weight right now will be embarrassed by the smaller Rigo.
Rigondeaux hits very hard and does not throw a lot to keep balance. Pacquaio will get hit hard by that left coming in like a caveman and go to sleep like he did when Marquez lured him in.
You don't know what your talking about... Manny was undefeated at bantam fighting top guys in the states...

Great fight :boxing: stylewise many would favor rigo with his speed, defense and counterpunching. But Pacquiao back then was very relentless with immense power and speed as well. I think at some point late in the fight he catches rigo and stops him after falling behind on the cards from being outboxed.
He floored Jmm 3 times in the 1st.....and got a draw which means Jmm boxed his ears off
Rigo is a defensive master...Manny has never seen one of those in his life...
This. My sentiments exactly.
