These guys are really something. the only boxers still fighting at the top level from the 90s.
Thats old school right there.
Whatever you say about these guys you gotta give respect. They still have the goods, and fighting top level and still hanging with younger fighters after so many years in the game, they are not washed up guys who are still fighting in obscure venues against sub par opponents like James toney and Roy Jones jr, these men are real throwbacks and workhorses.
Will we ever see any fighters do what they are doing, it shows who the cream of the crop are in boxing, only true legends can last this long at the top level for so long.
Bernard Hopkins turned pro in 1988
Juan Manuel Marquez turned pro in 1993
Manny Pacquiao turned pro in 1995
Floyd Mayweather turned pro in 1996
I agree manny is an atg but he is not a legit 8 division champ since most if those fights were catchweights. He's never even weighed above 150 yet he had the light middleweight title. While I agree that Manny is not truly a legit 8 division champ, I put the blame on the WBC for actually sanctioning that fight.
They are heading into ATG All Time Great status, they are already hall of famers.
I think B hop and Manny Pacquiao are already ATG's B hop has the record for most defenses, and Pac has most weight division titles, 8 weight division titles.

let the breed of floyd die, his kind had already dug the hole whereto bury the sports of professional prizefighting, those that will come after him will will deliver the final blow if he will not be able to do it himself next year.
Let's just say..only a select percentage...perhaps top 2% to 3% of boxers who can compete at the highest levels for YEARS ...that's longevity in the sport.
There are many, many boxers who look great or promising after 10,15,20 fights and then level off. They can't maintain the motivation or they can't consistently beat elite world class competition fight after fight. OR After losing or getting knocked out, they become shot or lose their mental edge.
It's amazing, that these older guys can school the young ones. Just shows experience, IQ, intelligence in the ring is a big factor.

I don't really consider them 90's fighters. They're more 00's fighters, given that they had the best moments of their careers during those years.
But yeah, ok, either way, we get your point.
What is the point of your reply? my thread is to show appreciation for these guys.
Ok, well I do appreciate those guys, but throughout history there is always some old school fighters.. 90s was filled with them, Holmes, foreman.
To say these guys are a dying breed is inaccurate, they have always been around throughout history
There has always been guys like that..
Whose to say ward, Crawford, mikey, Danny, etc won't still be world class years from now..
