Just to make history and capture the middleweight crown? He'd be one of the few people in history to have held 3 different crowns at the same time.
If the Pacquiao fight can't be made in May, I'd want to see the Cotto fight again.
What are your thoughts?
It could happen, but I don't think it's doing any favours to the legitimacy of the lineage to have Golovkin kept out of the loop. Floyd would obviously never fight Golovkin if he beat Cotto. There's a chance that Canelo might.
Either way they build it I would be cool with it.
And Cotto has been looking better since teaming up with Roach, so it would be interesting to see what would happen.
Either way it is a very solid fight between two established guys which is really all Floyd should look to be fighting a this point.
Really when the fight came on that wouldn't matter but talking about what it means before or after would suck and I like Floyd a lot.
Pet peeve about the fight I guess, because yea it is one of the better fights out there for him.
whenever you have a noticeable amount of Vaseline on your face before a fight, that's a sign they are trying to keep you warm. Not a good sign. Whenever a fighter rehydrates that much its also not good. Floyd had to add a minimum of 12% of his weight (when he entered) since the weigh in. thast a lot on the human body.
He won the fight because he is still a great fighter. But I think its time to leave 147. I could be wrong.
I don't know if Floyd can make 147 anymore so the answer is yes. I thought he looked to be somewhere between 160-163 going into the ring against Maidana. Probably best he fight Cotto for the MW title.
I honestly think he makes it fine.
Whatever 'issues' there are, I don't think they are because of age, more age.
But tbh he looked completely fine to me. Maidana is a very good fighter - it seems like people don't give him credit for that. Nobody has had an easy night vs Maidana, yet Floyd moves around a little and all of a sudden he's old.
I think he looked fine.
He does not actually have to fight @ 160lbs though. He could do what he just did with Miadana and fight @ 154lb for both the 154lb and 160lb titles. If he wins it would be a big deal because it would be for the Lineal Championship. Winning this would mean that he would be the first fighter since Henry Armstrong to hold 3 titles in 3 different weight classes @ the same time. This fight would be more meaningful that Pac at this point (he should fight Garcia, and the winner gets Floyd for his last fight).
I agree with the Red Bold.
Pac should fight Garcia and the winner get's FMJr. for the retirement fight.
Meanwhile, Floyd fights Cotto for Lineage at 54/60, etc.
After King Cotto beats Floyd, he will take the retirement revenge vs Mayweather for the biggest payday of his career and the King could retire with mega $$$!
#WarCotto
150% for this fight!
Make it for the 54/60 Belts and lineage/Rings!!! Could be of epic proportions and Cotto has a chance!!!
Make it happen now!

It makes more sense for his last fight legacy wise, but it's too big of an opportunity to pass up. I could see Floyd going to 160, besting Cotto, and then moving back down and have his Sept 2015 retirement fight, most likely a pretty soft touch so he can't ride off into the sunset undefeated....
Until he inevitably goes broke as history shows us will most likely happen, which while I am not a fan of his really I wish that on no man, and mounts a comeback.
It is the best move for Floyd by far. While still a dangerous fight, especially with Cotto being a few years younger and experiencing a nice resurgence and Floyd supposedly losing a step or two. That said, he would still be the favorite and rightfully so. I say he fights Cotto and retires, or fight Cotto at 160 then fight Pac in Sept then retire, though it'll probably be a Kell Brook type young buck who can enhance his legacy by winning after he retires.
I think a Khan fight would do better than both Maidana fights.
The second sure it would.the first one I don't know,Maidana was riding high of the Boner win, after having had Showtime invest heavily in him as the next big thing !
Sure Khan appears to have a large 'anti-fanbase' whom like to see him lose, couple with a big fan base himself with him being of mixed descent.
I would much rather have seen a Khan fight this weekend than a repeat of the May clash but I suppose that's the way these guys make their money by taking non risk fights.I mean Maidana in the first fight pushed Floyd hard for 7-8 rounds when Floyd tried to trade with him before using his movement and staying off of the ropes to nulify the threat of the tiring Chino, everyone knew he would start and finish this fight as he ended the last, less adventurous and daring than last out.
I don't know how I rate Khan's chances,I couldn't see him winning,then again undoubtedly Floyd won't stop him.
Not a fight I wanna see,but legacy wise why not ? Floyd believes he is the TBE,what better way of proving than winning a belt in yet another divison,160 belts defended at doesn't feel right but Floyd's numbers are gonna take a hit for his next fight unless it is against Cotto or PAC,and we all know he ain't ever fighting PAC.

If he fights Cotto at MW it's a cherry pick! Why fight a guy you already beat why not fight a live dog in GGG
Maybe because he'll get the actual MW championsship and 10 x more money?
Sure it makes sense, first fight was competitive, so it probably won't happen.
Yeah just like the first fight never happened or the competitive Castillo and Maidana never got rematches.

Garcia vs PAC would be awesome, could Danny overcome Manny a Floyd show down would be huge, what a fight to go out on.
