if you think about it he hasn't really produced a top quality fighter, I mean yea he's produced champions but he has never produced elites, like Amir Khan, Danny garcia, rigonduex . I was Totally disappointed with maidana, I turned my tv off and went to bed after the 3rd round
P.s Floyd is fit for a triathlon
talk about being fickle.
Garcia is a great trainer. Maidana lost badly to alexander and his career was in jeopardy then he goes on a winning streak where he dominated Broner when no one thought he would and then he gives floyd fits when no one thought he would.
Name 3 better trainers
Garcia may have known that in exchange for the payday there were going to be compromises. Think about it guys, where were the protests from Garcia when his fighter was held? when a point was deducted, etc? Garcia never said a thing. This was a payday, pure and simple I think Garcia knew it.
It is true that his fighters don't cut the ring off.
I think Robert does a lot of good when it comes to training guys no body knows. Not all trainers can have gifted athletes like Pacquiao, Floyd, Ward etc. He has a big stable of fighters & he definitely is an above average trainer.
I like Garcia and still thinks he's a good trainer. He knows his stuff and really help Maidana improve a lot, but he can only do so much. If the fighter doesn't listen or follow the gameplan, you can't place too much blame on the trainer. He'll have more world champions soon enough. Roach even had a bad run for a while before he got back on a winning streak. Both are way better than that poser Virgil Hunter though. :boxing:
the guy is a trash trainer plane and simple,,
u know what gets me everytime?? the guys clame to fame was giving chino a ****ing JAB,,lmao
how u gonna clame to teach him how to jab and be elite because u taught a fighter a basic tool that should come naturlly to him? smfh
I dont understand where the hate comes from..Garcia made Chino alot better and last night even though he got dominated he still gave a good fight.. Nice jab, landed alot of clean punches he even countered Floyd couple of times
There are limits to what a trainer can do with someone like Chino. I wasn't a believer at first but it's clear that Garcia has made a big difference. I don't see a pre-Garcia Maidana ever getting a rematch with Mayweather. Too unfocused in his work and too crude. Garcia gave him method and strategy that wasn't there before.
I'm not the biggest fan of Robert Garcia but I wouldn't hold last night against him.
LOL boxing fans are so fickle. When nonito lost to rigo everyone clowned on robert garcia hes an overrated trainer blah blah blah...then garcias fighters started racking up wins and everyone hopped back on his nuts. Garcia is one of the best trainers in boxing period.
For real bro, Garcia is one of the best characters in the game, I love that dude but as a trainer he's not beneficial for the fighters and I think in reflection he will admit this after tonight. I'd love to see Maidana with a Low key coach from Argentina, guiding him through some domestic fights that can make him some money before he steps on the world stage.

I think Garcia made a mistake in firing Ariza. And I only say this because Maidana didn't seem as strong and he gassed even earlier than he did the first time. By round 4, Maidana was visibly gassed and his aggressiveness noticeably declined.
I thought he gassed pretty early too
I disagree; Garcia does a great job. Maidana has come a LONG way from the guy who got embarrassed by Alexander and went life-and-death with Abuelo Morales. He just ain't made to be the guy to dethone the p4p #1, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Firing Ariza obviously hurt them a lot, but who knows what was going on behind the scenes. And honestly, seeing a guy who went crazy the first first be more measured in the rematch is something we see time and time again in boxing,
Garcia is a decent guy but he'd rather see a fighter die in the ring then take a loss and I find it hard to get behind people like that, as much as I like the guy. He's a great personality in the sport but he needs to stay out of the corner and hire people that know the fighters and at least know that moment to pull them out.

Yup Maidana's new S&C coach was a fail. Where the hell did they even find dude?
Love him or hate him, Ariza's program seems to be effective. I hear it's very intense and fighter's often have to take a day off of training after working with him. He should know his place in camp, but his ego at being the world's best personal trainer seems deserved.
