Running, holding, corrupt refereeing. Yes Mayweather dominated but I wouldn't call it impressive. Mayweather excessively held which was illegal and anytime one arm was free and maidana tried to work bayless broke it up. Bayless and mayweather clearly worked to eliminate maidanas strength. Plus with the advantages (the ref, the ring and the gloves) mayweather won with scores of 115-112 and 116-111 (x2) that wasnt very impressive.
From now out unless its pacquaio or an amazing undercard i will boycott Fraud Jrs last two fights.
Agree ...impresive was against canelo and the last rounds with cotto and guerrero...
Just check the face of both of them...chino without a single scratch and floyd with his nose and lips bleeding and puffed
Further Proof that this ERA of boxing is SH1T
A ERA in which fighters can't cut the ring off and don't have a clue how to deal with clinches and fighting inside, yes Kenny broke too soon but if he doesn't break people would still complain
Fighters need to learn how to fight and learn how to make adjustments, try to be more of a COMPLETE FIGHTER instead of just doing the same sh1t OVER AND OVER regardless if it doesn't work or not
Rematch should have NEVER HAPPENED, Mayweather was able to get himself a easy fight by taking a rematch to fulfill his Showtime Contract. Who are these fans that wanted a Maidana vs Mayweather Rematch?
Like most people on this website, full of excuses. Get over it, move on. Maidana was dominated, not much more to say than that. Intead of saying how "unimpressive" the guy that won 10 rounds was, look at how pathetic your boy was.
Nothing wrong with breaking down the fight, at the end of the day that's why we're all here to talk boxing. The fact of the matter is Mayweather dominated the rounds but was anything but dominant or impressive last night.
Floyds not a great fighter. He runs most of the time and when its inside he holds superior inside fighters, just like kell Brook and BH. Its easy to do and should be illegal.
Boxing is about punching. Not wrestling like Floyd does, but accuses others of doing.
i thought a part of boxing was taking your opponents strengths away and forcing them to fight the fight you want them to and not the fight they intend to fight... and clinching is a part of boxing, yes it was a little excessive but if the ref allowed it, it is what it is... floyd is aging but still a great fighter i think maidanas style is a very hard one to deal with, as long as he has garcia as a trainer he will be a problem for any WW
Because the two don't necessarily go hand in hand. He dominated the fight as a whole but he wasn't dominating. The same way Manny had an unimpressive dominant win over Clottey, the same way Broner had an unimpressive dominant win over Molina, the same way Josesito won a shutout the other night but was completely unimpressive. There are plenty of examples. I don't like Floyd but I NEVER downplay his talent, he impresses me almost everytime he is in the ring. Tonight I thought was his worst performance I've ever watched. I was even more impressed at his resiliency and ability to adapt in the much harder fight vs Maidana. This fight was just running (yes most of that way not just using his legs, that was flat out running) and clinching and having Bayless being overly generous toward him. I was far from impressed in this one.
spot on man
A more convincing win than the first one but I wasn't impressed either. I agree with Mayweather saying he gives his performance a C-.
At the end of the second round I thought Mayweather would be more offensive and really try to hurt Maidana, but none of that happened. He stepped it up at occasions with some nice combinations but all he did tonight was just enough to win most of the rounds.
He seemed to respect Maidanas power a lot more this time, really avoiding all kind of exchanges. He was hurt just at the bell of the third round, a rare moment where Maidana timed him perfectly. That was a good shot.
I also think that Mayweather is not as accurate as before (I know his punch stats are still ridiculous landing at a very high percentage). But to me it seems every time he wants to land something big besides those lead right hands he misses a lot. A younger Mayweather would have punished the body of Maidana much more than he did tonight.
He's still a very good fighter but taking a break now for more than half a year and returning in May when he's 38 years old against a young hungry fighter could be disastrous.

all this fight did was prove to me the floyd was telling the truth about the first fight.....he stayed on the ropes because he wanted to please the fans, which was a bad idea because dumbass fans were saying he lost...so because of that he wasted one of his last fights on maidana.
the funny thing is maidana fans are making this thread. regardless of how u think floyd looked, maidana looked much worse, i mean he looked completely losrt in this fight. sure u can blame the ref, but even with that, he had no idea how to respond to floyds movements.
Did Boxing end after Tyson? Lewis? ODLH? No.
If Floyd left @ 47-0, Pacquiao would still be here to carry it.
When both leave, we'll have other fighters like Brook, Broner, Garcia, Bradley(maybe), & Thurman to carry it.
getting 400k in ppv while fighting in china ain't gonna carry the sport.
He dominated the fight, it wasnt impressive because of all the bs that surrounded it, gloves ring, ref
He didnt show he was TBE and planets apart from maidana or any other fighters like he claimed himself to be. I thought this is where he would separate himself like he said. He graded himself c minus, after all the advantages he had, i think fans should do the same.
Maidana again did more damage than floyd even after landing all those punches.
maidana won 4 rounds in a fight that was stacked against him. If floyd is so greatm he should have won 12 rounds with these circumstances, floyds all washed up and done
Then what does that say about Maidana who's in his prime and was just dominated by an old and washed up fighter?

Your opinion doesn't count, as you are obviously very biased. :bling1:
can someone tell me the obvious signs of his decline?
I thought he was sharp but i didn't have a good TV angle and got up several times.
is this why Floyd was so down with himself? he hated his performance
I didn't see any obvious signs.
To me, it's more like Maidana's style is just not a good style for him to look good against. It's not an easy style for him to face. Styles make fights.

In first 6 rounds we seen the great Floyd mayweather, nice footwork, great counter right hand then he kinda slow down and started getting hit with shots that he never got hit with before i think age is getting to him... I dont understand why people complain about Floyd holding if ref lets him do it then why not? Why exchange with a brawler? Just my opinion
As much as I hate this, you are correct. I don't give him credit for doing it, the way you are implying but fighters will always do what they are able to get away with. It's up to the ref to step in and stop that from happening. That did not happen at all tonight. It seemed tonight Floyd could do absolutely anything he wanted to and get away with it.
How can a fighter literally dominate a fight but not be impressive?
Because the two don't necessarily go hand in hand. He dominated the fight as a whole but he wasn't dominating.
