Mike wasn't a 31 yr old running back and there was no video of him killing dogs that aired on a continuous 72 hour loop on every major TV network.
It really can go either way. Like you said it's hard to see a team taking a chance on him right now. Things may change by next year. The video footage is so damning. Rice will be far more vilified than Vick.
I really want to know how committed the league is to fight against domestic violence. There are pending domestic violence cases for players (Ray McDonald and Greg Hardy) that will have to be addressed as well. Do those players get indefinite bans or the 6 game ban that Goodell instituted recently.
Michael Vic got back in....all I'm saying.

I think it depends on what he does this year. If he stays out of the light, goes to anger management, and shows real remorse he may have a chance to play again next year.
The league can reinstate him but what team would actually sign him?

Criticizing the NFL for changing their suspension does not mean he is supporting ray rice. Geez. There were 2 or 3 threads up in the lounge where posters said the same thing.
He's wrong IMO about the NFL but he isn't supporting ray.He just should've STFU to avoid this.
I think he was so desperate to grab headlines for his fight he couldn't control himself. He also is a batterer so its not hard to guess which side he'd be on.
To support or not support, that is the question.

TMT!! Hard work, degradation!!
Really? With video footage of him knocking his girl unconscious? I'd be shocked if he doesn't get convicted if he doesn't cop a plea bargain. The NFL won't keep him.

I totally agree with you .... The NFL screwed this one up and now has opened the stage for Rice's Lawyers to bring a charge against the NFL. I'm willing to bet that RR will be back in the line-up next season.
Back on-topic: Floyd should have enough sense to know that this is a hot topic not to be touched, especially when he has a history of abusive behavior. Floyd (For his own good) needs to adopt a "NO Comment" strategy when reporters ask questions surrounding sensitive events.

yup. he is has gotten so much exposure this year and is everywhere so of course he is going to get asked questions. just smile and say something bland and uninteresting.

If you raised that argument to a judge, they would reject it outright. Because it is based on speculation and conjecture.
Depends on the judge. It's hard for me to believe that Mayweather's objection to the NFL's action against Rice is not an indication of support for him.
Agreed!
But if you go on TMZ, even they are questioning the validity of the NFL's move because as stated "They didn't see all the footage" therefore, what is the basis of their retraction of the two-game suspension and alteration to indefinite suspension.
True, what Rice did was despicable and in-humane, but despite the horrendous nature of his crime .... He still shouldn't be the victim of double-jeopardy.And in that regard, I believe TMZ has a point.
"The NFL had previously suspended Rice 2 games for the incident -- but NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell later admitted he screwed up in punishing Rice too lightly ... and instituted harsher punishments -- a 6 game suspension for first time NFL domestic violence offenders.
But ironically Goodell violated his own new policy with an indefinite suspension ... which makes the NFL sound like an organization out of control and ducking for cover

Double Jeopardy means to be tried twice for the same crime. That's not the case here. The NFL contends that after viewing the video of Rice KO'ing his girl, it felt an indefinite suspension was warranted. The likely truth of the matter is, the NFL was willing to limit it's action against a star player until compelled by hard evidence. They need to protect their image.
Maybe so-but you can't have NOW and other women's groups protesting on Thursday night at the game. And it wouldn't be long before the network's that broadcast football were targeted.
Goddell had to do this once the video came out because even those who believed ray's self defense story now saw that was a lie.
Just remember one thing-despite all the stuff you hear and read about football being king-Once mothers stop letting sons play football the sport is DEAD!!

But he did say the NFL should have only upheld it's 2 game suspension of Rice. He said that the video should not have prompted the indefinite suspension. This is definitely an indication of support for Rice.

No where in that video does Floyd state or even imply "Floyd shows support for Ray Rice".
Floyd clearly stated, that he wished RR and his family the best -- While also, stating that nobody is perfect and that we all make mistakes.
You fuckin idiots, not only can't read, but also are comprehensively stupid. No wonder boxing as a sport is considered sub-standard compared to other sports -- Its because through observation, boxing fans are the most immature, ignorant and silly bunch that could ever be assembled.

Only die hard Floyd fans will spin this. What happened was despicable. I don't have any sympathy for Ray Rice. I'm curious to see the First Take crew unload on him.
