Garcia went 12 rounds with him, coming forward, was never hurt or buzzed at all while beating Mattyhsee up,closing his eye and dropping him like a sack of sh1t...Why was "THE MACHINE" unable to hurt Garcia or stop him from comng forward all night?
Well people have him in their top 10 P4P list, which is a joke. That's what overrated means, when you're rated higher than you should be.
Skill wise he's very basic. No footwork, no jab, doesn't move his head. He has good physical qualities like a good chin and decent power, but in terms of boxing ability, there's nothing there.
Thats not very fair. I dislike Garcia, but he has solid skills. He choses to punch with people instead of making them miss first. He recognizes defense is not his strong suit, so if he is going to get hit, he might as well leverage his good chin and deliver a punishing blow at the same time that he gets hit.
Hence the No look hook. He also strings together combinations well, and is an extremely underrated body puncher.
There's a difference when your being hyped by public and when your being hyped by Promotion..Broner was being hyped by Promotion,I believe real boxing heads understood what it was with Broner and took it in stride..Yet Matt's was hyped by the public,I don't know man..It really felt like Matt's was being hyped a lot more..Maybe it's because I more hardcore and hear what under hardcore's are saying..
This is a joke yes? You can do a quick search, and see every Floyd fanboy hyping up Broner to be the successor to his Throne, while I was pointing out that he looked much more like Andre Berto than Floyd.
Didn't Garcia look like a beaten pumpkin after facing Herrera?
Herrera's style vs Danny was like Morales facing Pacquiao the 1st time. If Danny is to be something special, he would rm Herrera and beat him clearly.
As for Lucas, he has power, if somewhat overrated.
Danny has a solid chin though, not like Devon/Margarito, but a very good chin. That's why he just stands and trades hoping to land his left.
Devon Alexander's chin is quite remarkable, and its made more remarkable by the fact that he looks like a guy that would fold if he got hit like that.
it's funny, but that was the fight that started the real matthysse fanboyism.
of course, all of the fanboys will deny this, but that's when it started.
the premature rigotards started their worship after the rico ramos fight :lol1:
it's no shock that many who are fans of one, are fans of the other.
Actually Mr Diploma, the majority of us Rigotards eagerly awaited his defection from Cuba after his failure to depart with Gamboa just as all of the Fans of Lomchenko waited years for him to turn pro.
Also, not sure how you equate worship at the Church of Rigo with being a fan of Matthysse. Mattysse has was and will continue to be a fighter that has solid fundamentals and amazing power that is fun to watch. His defense is leaky enough that he gets and makes for fun action packed fights. Just the same way as Danny Garcia does.
I don't honestly know how you can be a fan of Danny Garcia and not be a fan of Lucas. They are basically the same fighter.
Low enough in skill level that everyone can be competitive with them while the fight lasts, and high enough in power to make for fun and spectacular endings.
Danny is a little higher in skill level, Lucas is a little Higher in game changing power.
As a man of "$250,000" education, I would think you would be capable of that kind of rational thought. I guess not.
Lucas thinks he wins in a rematch and feels Danny was lucky. Matthysse contemplated retirement after every loss. I think he was closest to doing i after Devon. I think it was more of him wodering if he wants it or not and not so much him thinking he cant beat anyone (thought we'll never know). Matthysse is clearly elite at the class it's really him and Danny then there's everyone else. Danny vs Lucas is still a 50/50 fight depending on the ref so lets not act like Herrera "beating" Danny changes that either. Styles make fights and the only 2 dudes who I see as potentially being problems or right there with Danny and Lucas are Algieri and Postol. Broner is a nice wild card too. 140 is still very much strong but the class is Danny and Lucas.
I don't question whether Lucas is elite. He has obviously proven that but what Lucas hasn't proven, is that against elite competition, can he win a boxing match against more rugged opposition that has the size to take his punch and skills to boot?
Given that he is usually the 'B' side in just about any fight, he will have a hard time winning decisions against anyone with a name that he cannot put on the canvas for and extended amount of time. I am certain Lucas realizes this. It's not a question of whether he can compete (which he obviously can), it's a questions of whether not he can win.
Garcia is solid.
What was telling is how Lucas contemplated retirement following that loss.
The only conclusion one could derive from this would be that Lucas knows how solid Danny was and contemplated whether or not he could actually beat him, or anyone else at the elite level in or around the weight class.

:lol1: what did the first paragraph have to do with what Larry said?!?....why is Herrera used to throw shade on Swift when Lucas is the fighter on trial here?!? :ugh:
His point has everything to do with the sh1t Gift gets on social media. He beat Matthysse but he needs to set the record straight with Herrera or move up. You guys seriously stopped the clock at September 2013 and have not moved forward at all.
Garcia is solid.

just popping back in to say that matthysse was one of the most overrated fighters of the last several years, and that danny's chin is freaking legit.
What are you talking about? Lucas has wins over Peterson and Molina Jr. He's a machine the will KO all comers in 5 or less.

Another point is Zab Judah had Garcia ready to go in the 9th round, a younger Zab would've stopped Garcia.
It doesn't surprise me that a Floyd fan started this thread, they have a real obsession with Matthysse. I guess they were hoping he would lose to Ortiz, instead he got bodied :lol1:
Garcia has size on his side, doesn't he walk around at 170+?
The guy shouldn't really be at 140 as most of his fights have been over the limit.
We should also remember he clinched a lot when caught flush, preventing follow-up shots.

Garcia fought a dirty fight, just as much as maidana in the Floyd fight.
Matthyse got hit low at least 10 times in that fight.
Solid chin and nice size with an impressive compusure and poker face. From memory there were a few times thought where he did seem phased and held on tight... That right hand that sent his mouth piece flying also hurt him.
If I recall Danny even said he was caught with some shots and Angel on different occasions saying Danny said no one hits like Lucas.
Danny's best asset is that composure!!
Hardcore was hyping Broner hard, too. A lot of people bought the next Mayweather talk around here. The casual public hyped him a hell of a lot more than they ever did Lucas, who was purely hardcore fan hype.
There were only a couple of diehards who ever talked about Matthysse the way Broner was talked about. Most of Matthysse's hype was just about beating Danny Garcia.
this, the hype broner received from the media can't be compare to the hype lucas got in this site from some posters. in showtime's own words, broner was seen as the heir to floyd's throne (all access broner maidana)

Garcia would beat Lucas again in similar fashion and Lucas fan boys will still look for excuses.
I have never seen so many excuses for one fight ever. The hate that Danny gets they can't even give him props for the good chin that he has displayed
