Cuauhtemoc1520's take on this weekend 9/6/2014

I thought some of the fights would be better, especially the Ortiz vs Mathysse fight. Berto vs Upsher This was a good fight because what makes every Berto fight good, his lack of defense. I love Berto's speed and combinations, what I don't like is how he just stares at his work after each one of them. Berto would be twice the fighter if he moved his head and finished with defense after every combo. Instead, he stares at his handy work and gets hit in return because his head is right there to be hit. Upsher when he threw landed, but in the end he wasn't active enough to beat Berto. I would like to see Berto against quite a few in the division because he is fun to watch, but for all the wrong reasons. Mathysse vs Ortiz As soon as I saw Benji Esteves I said to myself "Oh no, not this guy" and of course something happened. Ortiz was counted out at 8.5 seconds of the fight, why...I have no idea. He was hurt by a body shot, great shot as a matter of fact but why he stopped it I don't know. I have also heard about the time clock, but that doesn't make a difference. What matters is what the ref is counting. Bad call by the ref and I think we would have seen a decent fight. Broner vs Taylor This fight was better than expected. I thought Taylor was fighting really well and both had some great inside fighting throughout the fight. Broner was obviously the harder puncher, but as Malignaggi said he fights in spurts which allowed Taylor to have some big come back rounds. I think Broner's demise will be that he isn't busy enough throughout fights and he gets hit easier than I would like to see if I was working with him. He has good power, and when he moved his feet is when he's really at his best, he just doesn't do it enough. I don't know if it's conditioning, or what it is but his feet are the key and that could make him a much better fighter. Mathysse vs Broner is interesting, and I think would make a great fight. If Broner moves and boxes, he beats Mathysse but I have a feeling somewhere in that fight he sits on the ropes or stops punching.
