Broner vs Matthysse! Who ya got?

They're virtually the same height/reach and both come in weighing 157 (give or take a pound). Broners build is more stocky like bradley. Matthysse isn't nearly as cut up but I'm guessing his bone mass is why he makes the same 140 lbs with the same height as broner but a lot less muscle mass Could also explain lucas' power (more bone density)

There will be a big size difference between the two. I would favor Broner. He could use movement like he did last night and possibly eek out a W, but I'd be rooting for Matthysse all the way. I wouldn't say Broner would have the ability to walk Matthysse down. Check it, Broner has trouble fighting backwards. Hard press he folds. Let's just focus on a Garcia rematch. :boxing:

I wouldn't be surprised if Broner decides to avoid this fight. He's called him out twice already, he clearly wants the fight. There's no way he avoids it

At this point, I don't think Broner is a tune up for anyone. That's a huge overstatement I wouldn't be surprised if Broner decides to avoid this fight.

If Taylor could manage to make Broner back up throughout the entire fight and the opposite didn't happen, how much more would a guy like Matthysse? I'd pick Matthysse and feel pretty good about it. He'd land better and more punches all night and get a late stoppage or clear decision.

Broner is a natural counter puncher, so it could force Lucas to be more offensive than he would normally want to be, believe it or not, he doesn't throw 100 punches a around like NSB would want you to think taylor had success when he bullied broner up close, which isn't how Lucas fights. Lucas likes to stand at that mid-range and throw straight shots, which would give Broner opportunities to counter If Lucas brings his inside game from round 1, I think he wins fairly easily but he can't let Broner dictate his own game Lots of broner hate here causing people not to think objectively, he's a good fighter I disagree slightly. I think Broner is actually best on the sinside. He's a better inside pressure fighter than he is a mid range counter puncher. His main issues are fighting on the back foot,and laying on the ropes in a defensive position. He rarely gets hit really cleanly but he NEVER counters off the ropes so you can just stack up rounds simply getting him there .

Broner looks good in eye-catching spurts, his speed could cause Lucas problems. I think he would be easily pushed back against the ropes by Lucas though, and his lack of defense/foot work would be his downfall against a puncher like Lucas. A Lucas win for sure. Yeah, Broner is too easily bullied. The fact that Broner's lateral movement is subpar, you would think he'd let off combos a lot more and flick that jab. That would do a lot more neutralizing of his oppositions offense than just standing on the ropes and shaking his head when he gets hit

And your're absolutely correct. When Broner is on his back foot, he's much less effective than when he's standing still or coming forward, which is weird because he's a good counter puncher
