I mean was he scared of a prime undefeated Cotto and also did he avoid Paul Williams???
I remember when a radio interviewer asked about Paul Williams he became avoided even mentioning his name????
Do you really think in 2008 when Paul was WBO Welterweight Champion Mayweather would have beaten him or a prime undefeated Cotto.
Also after Cotto 1st loss to Margacheato he never was the same person again. I started to tattoo himself and he broke up from his uncle's training camp.

People need to read 48 laws of power . His retirement like Jay-z in my opinion was just a power move. Never serious , definitely not scared just a way to stay on top of the totem pole and it's worked out well for both.

Says he wants the winner of Martinez vs Williams 2, when they bring it to his attention he says Martinez should move up to 168 and fight oscar nominee andre dirrel.
He took 18 months off..if the division was so hot then why wasn't it still hot when he returned?
Everyone fought and beat the crap out of each other.
Floyd came back 18 months later and cherry picked a lightweight.
Yes and he mentioned it himself, those who are trying to defend him search the vis of his retirement on youtube. Been posted here on nsb before just in case you r new.
No lol. It's an indisputable fact. Best you can do is create some convoluted logic that "asking for tests equals ducking" or whatever other garbage crap you guys do.
It's simple-the things you guys say about JMM now for refusing the 5th fight, you should say about manny actions then.
Its not undisputable. Thats why folks debate about it every day. some folks say manny walked away and present their facts, some say floyd and do same. Not too many say both couldn't come to a reasonable agreement, because of the extreme fanboyism going on.
Even the media coverage has bias both ways.
No credible fan or media member debates manny refusing the fight then. We do have Internet hacks and crazy NSB clowns that post the logic I listed.
Asking for testing equals ducking- what kind of retarded **** is that. Come on dude, we don't have to like the same fighters to agree anyone who thinks this is an imbecile who isn't to be taken seriously.

He did it specifically to avoid Paul Williams. That's why Floyd announced his return to the ring less than a month after Williams moved up to middleweight.
Avoiding Margarito and prime Cotto as a byproduct was just an added bonus.
I could be wrong. I just remember that was the story at one point. Honestly I don't keep close track of Floyd's shenanigans, I just laugh when they're reported then forget about it. yes you are dead wrong
DLH had a 1 year rematch clause so floyd "retired" for 1 year as i recall
as hard as it is to imagine floyd beating p williams it's even harder to imagine them ever fighting
a 1 year rematch clause?? lmfao how do you even make this sh1t up?? Oscar lost and still wanted the bigger purse so Floyd said fvck him..simple as that..
Margarito had floyd shook.
By Roberto Elmore: After Manny Pacquiao made easy work of Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito, the howls of ***8220;Floyd ducked both of these fighters***8221; reemerged. Many of these claims have been opinionated and have not yet seen proof of these allegations. I did write an article stating that Mayweather side stepping Margarito was a good move. And financially it was back then. But upon my return to the article, I found facts that will support this article. Now, I know there will still be many who will contest these facts and continue with their barrage of name calling. But it***8217;s not my job to control opinions; just give the facts and let the readers decide. But I want you to pay close attention to the quotes and who***8217;s saying what. After Mayweather defeated Zab Judah, he was offered 8 million to fight Antonio Margarito on August 12th 2006. Leonard Ellerbe had this to say after the Judah fight.
Floyd is not 100 percent healthy,***8221; Ellerbe said. ***8220;He has a bruised right hand. His hand is not broken. It***8217;s bruised, but it***8217;s a bad bruise. He wants to go into any fight 100 percent healthy. If Antonio Margarito happens to be the best available option when he is healthy, so be it***8221;.
***8220;We are not turning down Margarito. I want to make that crystal clear. When and if he is the best available option for Floyd***8217;s next fight, that***8217;s the direction he will move in.***8221; If you noticed, that was Ellerbe speaking. Not Floyd. Let***8217;s move on.
Bob Arum, Mayweather***8217;s promoter at the time said that Mayweather preferred to await the outcome of the May 6 Oscar De La Hoya-Ricardo Mayorga fight instead of committing to Margarito because he would prefer to fight De La Hoya.
Arum stated that Mayweather would have fought Margarito for the 8 million, but he wanted a guaranteed 10 million to fight Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton. Arum only guaranteed him 7 million. And for those who don***8217;t know Cotto and Hatton were at the Mayweather-Gatti fight and Cotto was ranked number 5 by the ring at the time (Proof: Listen to the commentary Jim Lampley at the end of round 5) . Cotto had just moved up to the 140 pound weight class and he didn***8217;t make an offer to fight Mayweather after the Gatti fight.
Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn***8217;t interested in participating in. ***8220;That***8217;s not in the cards,***8221; Arum said. ***8220;He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It***8217;s not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold ***8216;em and when to fold ***8216;em. We***8217;ll talk about things down the road.***8221; Notice this part Arum was talking.
Source for the entire article: (Mayweather turns down 8 million to fight Margarito; author: Dan Rafael, it was updated on April 12th 2006)
Face time: Mayweather had nothing to gain from fighting Margarito financially. There was no reward for this. There might have been a risk (but I can***8217;t say what would have happened because it didn***8217;t happen). Mayweather went on to fight the Carlos Baldomir for a dollar more 8,000,001, but he was the lineal welterweight champ. But Oscar had both risk and reward and we saw the results. Several people have fought and beat Margarito and their careers haven***8217;t gone anywhere (Paul Williams, Shane Mosley). If anyone can provide me with a web sight, newspaper clipping, anything that has facts on it, I***8217;m open to it. Peace.

:lol1: This topic is dead as hell. Horse has been beaten to death.
Yep..but when all else fails they will bring up Castillo and his brief retirement...The horse has been beaten to death, molded and decomposed
Lol......ok
No lol. It's an indisputable fact. Best you can do is create some convoluted logic that "asking for tests equals ducking" or whatever other garbage crap you guys do.

Because they were all i wars against each other and fought and beat each other which EXACTLY what Floyd wanted, so he wouldn't have too fight the losers when he conveniantly returned!!!!!
Margarito vs Cotto was a WAR
Pacquiao vs Cotto was a WAR
Those 2 beatings took ALOT out of Cotto, and he's still not the same fighter.
Still hasn't fought Pacquiao
Avoided Margarito at the time he was prime'
Avoided P Williams
It was a calculated move to avoid the building pressure of fighting these guys
He did not avoid Margo- Arum refused to pay him what he wanted
How did avoid Williams?? the fight was never even close to being discussed or possible
Manny fight could have happened in 2010-but drug testing is for cowards
Cotto vs margo and manny are all top rank fights and easy to make..soon as cotto left the fight was made
Could you say it probably backfired in terms of Pacquaio? they way i see it, his earning potential probably would have been 5x greater, 5 years ago, than it would be now, when the fight was red red hot, and was always a bigger fight than floyd/cotto.
Of course, without getting into your, if pacquaio would have taken the tests, rhetoric
You may be absolutely correct. But Manny refused the fight dude. You can't just gloss over that fact.
