im seeing a lot of "easy work" "12-0" "floyd ud" again. just like the first fight.
not a lot of evidence coming from that side, however. all i see is references to a decades old rematch against castillo.
meanwhile, im looking the total number of punches thrown in the broner and mayweather fights, as well as soto-karass.
floyd only managed to cut maidana's output by 106 punches as compared to broner. 964 in the broner, 858 in the Floyd fight. minimal drop off compared to how he dominates this categoy with previous opponents.
draw on one card, , lost the 12th round on 2 judges cards, got buzzed numerous times, couldnt limit maidanas volume much more than broner did even though people say the 2nd half of the fight was boring and easy.
it took place at distance therefor floyd was doing better doe!
He did limit maidana's volume.. Floyd was sneaking body shots on the inside and jabs too the body and maidana's work rate dropped in the 2nd half of the fight.. Floyd basically let Maidana punch himself out early and hit that body, and Maidana slowed down and allowed Floyd to take over in the 2nd half.
If Maidana can throw 100 punches around for an entire fight, I think he beats Floyd, but so far he has only showed he can do it for 4 or 5 rds
look busy shots happened in the mid rounds i think. some arm punches but not that much, maidana remains awkward and has snap even if hes tired..maybe he threw from too far and too close at time. he threw the right punches, the openings were there. its true floyd hit his body a lot . maidana and garcia will address that and if it goes 12 probably hit 1000 punches in this one!
God, I hope so.
Floyd did get beat up a bit....He didn't know it because when a guy like Cotto catches you it is clean and you know it...hence after the Cotto fight Floyd knew he had taken a few!
Madianna is a pressure guy. He hits you from weird angles, his punches bounce off you at weird angles and its not always clear when he caught you or when you got pushed back, or elbowed....But heres the thing:
Floyd is really underestimating Madianna. Hatton was straight lines, he came in straight, worked off of straight predictable lines. Floyd could time him. Madianna hits at weird angles and knows how to pressure guys into making mistakes....problem for Floyd is that he no longer can outmove a guy like that with his legs...Bronner got beat up because he did not know the angles...he tried to outrun a looping punch that caught him moving back and made other rookie mistakes. Floyd is going to get caught in the ropes because Madianna has a jab that he used to put Floyd there.
I think this will be Floyd's Waterloo. An earlier version of Floyd uses his footwork to back off and counter Madianna, this version hopes one shot potshots will keep Madiana at bay...they didn't the first time and won't this time.
But how many of the later thrown punches had way less steam on them, and more arm punches, and look busy shots?
The first 4 rounds, those were kill shots.

Plus what I'd be curious to see is round by round. I would think Maidanas punch output would have been a lot lower in the mid to late rounds.

He was trying to counter punch with a one shot at a time. Maidana is a difficult fighter to time. You got to get off first and beat him to the punch like Alexander did.
I think the people that think Floyd will dominate from the get go will be surprised. He started to dominate later on, because Maidana couldn't keep up that same pace, and he was softening up his body.
He's still gonna have to weather the early storm, and then dominate. There's no getting around the early onslaught that Maidana's gonna bring.
And people that think Maidana's gonna KO Floyd are even crazier. There's more of a chance that Maidana's more worse for wear than Floyd is. You can't even compare the amount of damage Maidana's taken compared to Floyd, who barely gets touched.
unless Floyd's been getting KO'd in sparring recently, I don't see him falling to Maidana. It's gonna be to a fresh, and fast guy like Thurman, that's gonna test Floyd. Not a guy that Floyd knows what to expect, and knows he just has to hold on in the beginning.
Floyd got beat up. He's slowed down significantly.
He looked great against Ghost and Canelo but they can't cut off the ring for crap.
Then Canelo tries out boxing Floyd in the middle of the ring :pat:
I don't think mayweather has the power to discourage an offensive minded brawler like maidana. Even though maidana is probably the least skilled fighter Floyd has faced in a long time Maidana is the most offensive minded fighter and that he doesn't mind taking a shot to land his.
He got hit with clean shots but he was never hurt and offensive minded fighters like chino will keep coming.
