This man came to the United States Of America....and upset a young, hyped, power punching, smoothering champ at 147.
And he came in as a underdog, a huge underdog.
This guy came to U.S. Soil and did the Magic Man on Shawn Porter all night long, even rocking Porter a few times.
Just goes to show, anything can happen when you fight another contender.
Where in the ShoStats did it say Brook was 170lbs? If I remember correctly Poter was 158lbs and Brook was 156lbs on fight night. I could be wrong tho.
You're right. Actually, I cant remember Porter's weight but Brook was 156 for sure.
when you go the distance with alfonso gomez and julio diaz twice you are not a power puncher. when you hit alexander with power shots over and over and can't budge him you are not a power puncher. the malignaggi fight was an outlier but i see you have floyd mayweather fan amnesia where you only remember a guys last fight and not his career. also he wasn't even a big underdog but here comes the revisionist history just like calzaghe-lacy where the odds were nearly even. artistic license-making stories better for thousands of years.
we get it, Calzaghe was a good fighter but you dont have to talk about him ALL the time
kell brook wasn't the underdog.

he should have realized by the second round that brook was clinching nonstop as a fight strategy and penalized him if he continued doing it. instead he just kept saying let go and we got a terrible fight. boxing is supposed to be a business and how is it good business to have horrible fights that no one wants to watch. not to mention its against the rules but whatever. andre ward would call it a masterclass.
Guerrero did what he had to do to neutralize Berto's clinching. Berto got punished for his clinching. The clinching had consequences. Berto was forced to fight an inside fight and he was connecting. It was a very entertaining fight and it was because the ref wasn't interfering too much.

... In the second round Brook literally kneeled Porter from clinching... It was hilarious that the ref gave them a sign to continue...
The ref should do something about these types of fights where clinching is excessive. OR not do anything at all. Let them clinch and fight.
In a way, the clincher is being aided by the ref. Porter had two opponents in that fight. Porter should have requested the ref in the Berto vs Guerrero fight. Clinching should have consequences, and not rewarded.

I never seen him fight before but my buddy from work picked him to beat Porter. I watched the first round and I was impressed with his boxing style even hurting Porter in the first round. He beat Porter plain and simple.

Mother f*cker, you yourself was calling him the underdog if i remember correctly, trying to tell me to admit i thought he couldnt win, f*ck you!
Porter is overrated as hell. He knocked out Paulie and everyone started calling him a power puncher when his wins all went to decision once he stepped up in competition.

No such thing as underdog when you are the bigger guy. It's stupid. KOing Malignaggi doesn't automatically mean you can beat everybody. It's stupid.
Fight was total garbage. Porter fought the way he did because he's short. Brook's answer to inside fighting was to clinch and nothing but clinch. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and blame it on Porter, 6th round came, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, it's the same clnching defense over and over again with no attempt at fighting without the holding. I'm sure I was not the only one. People in the audience started to leave. They got sick of the clinching.
I'll never know why people appreciate these types of fighters.
The kid had good pop, landing flush and hard shots on fighters over the years.
.
He is no power puncher, thats my point, i said it long before the fight that porter is not a big puncher, anyone who looked at his record can see, as well as his fights with Diaz, which a lot of people felt he lost
Mathew Hatton probably hits harder than Porter
Porter also never landed anything of significance, all he was doing was bum rushing and charging forwards with bodyshots
