There's no setting up. There's no purpose. It's just lunge in, be physical, and throw wild punches to the body. He doesn't move his opponent to the ropes. He doesn't position himself before he starts throwing. He doesn't strategically move his opponent to the corner, like a "swarmer" should.
He looks like a spaz in there. Just lunging towards his opponent, and throwing smothered body and head punches.
Very harsh on Porter. Brook just came with a great gameplan and had the composure and talent to pull it off.
Porter has a lot to work on that much is clear (he needs to watch some Ricky Hatton fights to learn how to fight in the clinch), but hes still a good fighter.
Someone who cant box wouldn't have beaten Alexander as clearly as he did. Remember everyones favourite brawler Maidana lost clearly to Alexander not long ago.
I couldn't have said it better myself. He simply lunges in flailing away and throwing wild punches. He doesn't even utilize his jab. He doesn't set up his punches nor plant his feet to throw with more power. It's simply lung in with his head down and flail away. He was getting countered all night and he didn't move his head @ all. I was so disappointed, he has no real technique. He'll lose to any fighter that he can't out muscle, with stamina, and good boxing skills.
I told people Porter can't box.....And of the PED's he ain't no beast.....keep hating and I'll keep educating......Keith Thurman also is gonna get exposed .......but because he has a weak chin....Kell Brook answered every adjustment Porter tried to make.....and it was beautiful!!!!
Porter should just go to MMA, he can't box a lick. This dude just rushing you with all his might and hoping to land with all his weight behind it. it was cringeworthy.
that's exactly what i was thinking.
Brook strength was amazing, he was like an immovable object, Porter kept trying to hip toss him but spent to much energy and couldn't even budge him lol, it was like Brook was made of concrete.
Porter thought he was a beast and would throw Kell around it backfired on him he felt weak and was like wtf im trying to throw him and bum rush him but he isn't moving like Devon and Paulie
Why would Porter even try and think he could toss Brooke around when Brooke is the bigger man? Porter is an idiot.
My thing is, Porter and his team know they have the speed advantage so why not use that and box Brooke? Going in like a wild man and fighting aggressive is the wrong way to use that speed, IMO.

;14863769']Porter gameplan is to force you off balance, then land wild hooks on you like he did to Paule (had him sitting on the ropes). Instead of punching his way in with combos, he Leaps with one attack then try to muscle you out of position to land wild hooks. -- This is not boxing.
When he came up against sum1 who he couldn't push back as much, he resorted to rabbit punching.
Exactly. He fights wildly. And the other funny thing is that he doesn't seem to understand that such a style will tire you out midway. So midway during the fight, you can see Porter's aggression start to significantly drop.
Rushing in is usually the gameplan for a shorter fighter fighting a taller one. Guys like Mike Tyson knew how to do this effectively. Obviously Porter does not have Tyson's sharpness or power. And yes Porter did try countering which is why Brook didn't throw his jab as much as he could have. Brook only landed FOUR more punches. Berto has been beat by guys worse than Brook. So lets not act like Shawn Porter has less ring iq than him.
You're not getting it. That style is typical for Porter. Not just for this fight. Brook didn't abandon his jab because of Porter's countering. Porter had insane trouble landing effective shots. Brook just had some trouble dealing with Porter's constant wild rushing.
Porter may or may not have less ring IQ than Berto. But he certainly doesn't have more.
The Devon win was impressive considering he was about a 8-1 favorite if I remember correctly.
Brooks strength really impressed me tonight, he used that Lennox/Klitschko push down on the inside and it worked very well.
The holding was a bit excessive early but later it was actually Porter holding after he got tagged.
Khan vs. Brook next please.
Therein lies the problem. Porter didn't have a gameplan. That's just the way he fights. He has one real gear, that's it. Mentioning counter punching and Porter in the same breath during this fight is laughable. Maybe you can call it retaliation after getting hit, but not counter punching.
If Berto were in there, the fight would've been much more entertaining, even if he got KO'd. And Berto wouldn't continually rush-in with his head, smother his punches, etc. For all his faults, I would've rather saw Berto in there tonight.

Brook should have gotten a point taken away for excessive holding.......he showed very little ring IQ himself.

He did go from run of the mill to a monster in 2 fights.
Honestly he didn't look very strong tonight, he's supposed to be a guy that used to fight at middleweight and tonight he was getting overpowered on the inside by Brook.
I'm not saying what Paulie said was true but he looked a bit deflated tonight.
I think Brook stops Paulie too, similar to what Khan did. Paulie is brave, but he can be stopped as he doesn't have enough to keep good fighters off him. The Devon win is a bit meh….both wins aren't that impressive, just like Kell being Porter isn't that impressive as I never rated Porter that highly to begin with.

I wonder is Porter is still this 'beast' that will take over at WW.....
People were seriously giving Brook no chance, it was hilarious.
Ignorance. Naivety…im not sure which. Im going to pick ignorance as they hadn't seen him because he hadn't fought on their TV against the usual US bums that get lined up for a beating on route to the title and Youtube was too much hard work

Kell comes down to 147 from around 175, he is a bigger WW than Porter.
Some guy claimed on here the other week that Brook was small at the weight....:smashfrea
