Unfortunately, that part isn't there anymore, which kinda strips it of its novelty. Before it was basically traditional boxing gloves except with the knuckle portion cut out from the glove, now they are using 8-10 ounce grants just like normal boxing.
So now it seems kinda redundant. Its boxing in a small round circle with two minute rounds.
They changed the gloves so that the Nevada commission would sanction the event.
Am I the only that thinks this is nothing but a gimmick? Even on the ad here in Vegas they are saying there is no "running around." I'm not a fan of guys like Rigo and Lara, but it is a style to overcome and makes you a better fighter beating guys like that. Boxing is about skill and technique not just bashing each other again and again.
It is kind of a gimmick.
I got the last one and maybe one or two fights were action-packed. The rest were just boxing matches with crappy boxers.
It's boxing in a really condensed ring(an actual 'ring') with smaller gloves.
People hear about and think it's cheesy but it's actually pretty live. There's a few fights that have been uploaded on YT if you wanna see what it is

They're marketing it to those who enjoy brawling and toe-to-toe battles. The Pit forces you to use head/torso movement more than your legs. It forces you to engage more often than they would if they were in a ring. There isn't enough space to move too far back from your opponent, so you better know how to circle/slip/counter-punch. The Pit plays to certain strengths, and guys like Rigo and Lara would have to be more offensive than they would probably like to. Who wouldn't like to see a more offensive Rigo?

Not accurate RT“@FabianD_inAZ_54: So Brian Vera is getting 100k and Gabriel Rosado is getting 90k.. that***39;s pretty good money for a new sport— Michelle Rosado (@M_RagingBabe) August 15, 2014
@danrafaelespn Your off by 1 figure but it***39;s all good;) Enjoy your day Dan!***128076;— Gabriel Rosado (@KingGabRosado) August 15, 2014
Gabe got 200k for GGG, 60k for Love. The first offer to fight Quillin was 50k, don't know what he got at the end. But against Charlo he got 75k. For his IBF final eliminator at 154 against Whitacker he got 4k....
90k are damn good money for a fight which doesn't go into your record.
Was 50k at first because they tried to put it on FS1, when it got moved to showtime, it was over 100k. And where;d you get 200k?
He made in the 150k+ range for his Love, Quillin and maybe his GGG fight too... I think max was 180k.
This is way more than if he isn't fighting a name or on a big card. I remember he fought an eliminator where the purse bid was like 12k.... he split that with his opponent on NBC

it's 30 bucks a pop, I think they should get some sort of percentage of it
DirecTV called me about this event last time and offered it to me for 5 bucks.
It wasnt worth 30, but it was entertaining for 5 bucks.
I'm rooting for Rosado as well but I think punch for punch Vera has more power. He may stop him on cuts or something.
Yeah, I agree. But this is gonna be a war!! :boxing::boxing:
