I think the Salka fight was worse.
But Canelo brought Lopez up two whole weight classes as opposed to one.
Yeah he beat Ortiz but everything about that fight was inexcusable.
It was bullying at its purest form.
that's just so sad..it's like watching someone hit a handicap with a shovel...
He threw the same combo 4 times to end the fight. He was determined to GARSH that poor bastard.
It was a mismatch but Lopez was an established name coming off a good win. Also Canelo was not a unified champ and was still in his early early 20s, still in his development process.
Not even remotely close. Lopez had upset Ortiz at 147, Ortiz was going to fight Canelo. Lopez took Ortiz's place and it was the only thing Canelo had left because of what happened to Paul Williams and because James Kirkland rejected the offer and had to get surgery. Trout was scheduled to fight Cotto, Lara was scheduled to fight Vanes. Neither Cotto or Mayweather felt a Canelo fight was good at the moment. So there you have it.
A shit fight is a shit fight. We shouldn't start ranking these shit fights by level of shittiness because none of them should have happened, PERIOD. All shit fights are created equally and we as fans need to do something about it.
It wasn't as bad, but it was close which is what I voted for. Lopez "beat" Ortiz but that is only because Ortiz quit, he was up on all the scorecards. In essence Ortiz was beating that ass until he got caught, Lopez didn't look good in winning that fight. While the fight was at 147 it was Lopez only fight at 147 and then he had to jump up again to 154 to face Canelo. No one had heard of Lopez (at least I hadn't) until he even fought Ortiz so... no not as bad, but pretty damn close. Neither fight should have taken place to be honest.
SAlka was worse. Lopez had just crack ortiz jaw and had fought much better opossition and people actaully knew who he was. The only people who knew salka was hes fmaily
Both fights are equally bad. Lopez had as much of a chance to beat Canelo as Salka did beating Garcia. That is all that needs to be said about both of the fights.
It was not even close to being as bad and only a real Canelo hater would say it was. Salka was unranked and unknown going into the Garcia fight. Salka was ranked 68th at lightweight. Lopez had just knocked out high ranked welterweight Victor Ortiz who was set to be Canelo's next opponent. The KO of Ortiz earned Lopez a world ranking of 8 at welterweight. So you had a top 10 world ranked welterweight going up to 154 to fight Canelo compared to the number 68th ranked lightweight Salka going up to 142 to fight Garcia. How in the hell can a champion fighting a fighter who is the 8th best fighter in his weight class be just as bad as a champion fighting a fighter who is the 68th best fighter in his weight class?????
