Broner was kind of hunched over in the later rounds and his mouth was wide open. If just throwing one hard punch is an indication of "great conditioning", then it should apply to Maidana too.
My observations on this fight...
1. If Broner fought the way he fought in Round 4 all the time, he'd probably beat everybody at 140
2. Broner indeed has great conditioning. That knockdown punch with 20 seconds left in RD 12 snapped just like his punches did in RD 1.
3. Mike Stafford is a great coach. His advice was spot on.
4. Broner is CLEARLY attempting to evolve his style and box a little more.
5. Despite #4, he still needs to develop this style some more.
6. Broner DOES listen. When encouraged to box, I could see Broner early in the round following attempting to box more, use head movement and be more elusive.
7. If you haven't boxed, you can't understand just how difficult it is to change styles and the habits that enabled him to become a 3x world champ. Will take time.
8. Guys who can box on the outside will still give Broner fits.
9. Guys with power are still a great danger to Broner until his boxing style evolves more.
10. Broner's ring entrance was wildly entertaining.
11. Broner is easily the most charismatic person in the sport today.
12. The fight was good, but honestly, it shouldn't have been this close. Shows Broner still has work to do.
13. Great post fight interview and show of respect by Broner
14. Taylor is a solid B fighter. Not much more.
15. Inside fighting is fun to watch. Wish there were more fighters really good at it.
All of this is true.

Broner was breathing very heavily in the later rounds and simply couldn't keep it up for long. Even in the Maidana fight, the fact that he couldn't take advantage of a fatigue Maidana showed that. In this fight with Taylor, his punches were slower, was getting tagged more often, and was clinching more compared to the first the round.
Broner has elite, championship level stamina. He's just as fresh in round 12 as he is in round 1. Even after the beatdown he got from Maidana, he looked the fresher of the two in the late rounds. Maidana was sucking wind.

Yep. Agree 100%

Was anyone actually impressed with last night? I thought the way the Matthysse fight ended made the event lose steam. It's not like Broner was impressive either.
I can't see him convincingly beat any of the title holders at this point including Jessie Vargas and Postol.
I wasn't impressed by either Broner or Taylor, to be honest.
Broner vs. Taylor was a good, entertaining fight, I'll admit that but as far as how they fought, I was disappointed about both of them. Broner still has good hand speed and looks like he's trying to use more foot movement but his flaws were still visible; poor defense, not enough footwork and power, and most noticeably, his tendency to fade in the later rounds. In the end, he's not much different from how he usually fights.
As for Taylor, his inability to let his hands go was frustrating. Maybe he was aware of Broner's better hand speed but that doesn't mean letting Broner off the hook when his poor defense is basically screaming "hit me". The straight jab kept landing and Broner didn't seem to have any answer but at the same time, Taylor didn't seem know how to take advantage of it. His own defense and stamina needs to some work too (they're both similar in that area).
Berto's fight was pretty good too. Upsher put up quite a fight that Berto some problems but he seems like he gets easily discouraged in the later rounds. I was impressed by Berto's aggression and willingness to be first and unlike Broner and Taylor, he can keep it up for more than 8 rounds.
Broner usually fights three times a year. Maybe by the end of this year, he and Matthysse should fight each other since Lucas didn't really have much work to do in his fight.

Can you imagine the body punching in a fight between Peterson and Broner..

Rome you make good points. But if broner can manage to fight all his fights like he did rounds 10-12 he's beating all of these guys.
I don't trust him completely yet but he's just too fast and skilled. He needs to tighten the defense, no question.
When he is a boxer puncher he looks tough to beat. When he's "baby bro" he looks just like berto with a fatter pops.

I think Broner's talent will keep him in the thick of it..I just don't see him beating really good fighters..I would actually like to see him fight Garcia or Peterson right now..I think those would be very exciting fights..Yet I don't see him winning any of those fights..Ya thoughts??
Broner stilll does not use his legs, his footwork is just as bad as Berto's..Ok maybe that's too far but you get my meaning..

What fight were you watching?
Is that even possible?
No its not. I was looking at my card wrong. I had Broner up by a point actually. My bad, I had just woken up. Lol
It's ok if we disagree. I'm sure you haven't given up on matthysse so why would you have a problem if anyone thinks broner can get it right in the ring.

No he wont. Broner sucks. Cant believe people still have hopes for him. Lol

That's why I specified the 10th and 12th Rd's. Loved his work and determination and the way he took back those rounds from taylor even though taylor didn't quit.
Broner didn't look like a kid in the ring for the 1st time. He fought this fight like a man. If he can let go of the floyd copycat stuff and fight "his" fight the whole fight he will do big things. Just work on the defense and watch the overhand rights.
