«@KevinI Rios is dizzy and may have a separated shoulder or broken collarbone in addition to the eye injury, per his manager @MickeyFelix»
Rios made it a dirty fight. Chaves was responding to the rough house tactics because ****ty Draculich lost control of the fight. Rios is the type of guy who will just keep fouling and screaming curses until a ref puts his foot down. Draculich wasn't up to the task or he was biased due to financial considerations. It's silly that Rios was whining about the fouls during and after the fight.
Rios made sure it was a dirty fight. Now we are supposed to listen to him whine about it?
What a pile of ****, you mustve missed the fight.
I used to like Rios. I can't say I am a fan of his now. He's done too much classless **** since he burst onto the scene. Back then I was a fan though.
I do notice that you Mexicans decide "who to like" based purely on ethnicity, so you guys are the last people who should be whining about the supposed lack of logic that NSB displays when deciding "who to like".
Again, I used to be a fan of Rios.
I don't know that many Mexicans that like Carlos Molina or Miguel Vazquez

People that don't think Chaves was completely dirty tonight are blind as fvck. Had he been DQ'd for the elbow he threw across the face of Rios then I wouldn't have complained. That's without forgetting the constant head swinging that Chavez did into the direction of Rios head and the damn mother effing DDT that he put on Rios. Good god how do you defend that BS???? I'm far from a Rios fan but he was getting cheated by a dirty fighter tonight. That's not including the excessive holding that Chaves did. I straight up never want to see him fight again.
Rios swung Chaves around into that corner.
He really didn't. Just part of Chaves' way to get a point deduction (which worked). I have never seen Rios fight dirty before, and I really didn't see it tonight either.
Chaves reminded me of a soccer player tonight. Sneakily dirty, whiny, and dramatic. I was rooting for him because I liked the way he fought against Thurman and I didn't really care for Rios all that much. It didn't take very long for the switch to Rios.
Not a fan of that type of fighting. Excessive clinching, dirty moves (not this "veteran tactic" nonsense that Ward was talking about), and unwarranted crying.
I did find it interesting that Ward felt the need to defend the dirty fighting. I can't possibly imagine why.
dude let it go with the Mexican thing. Now only Mexicans are biased? Most boxing fans are biased when it comes such thing, to the point where since we are all biased, then who cares.
ref was terrible all around. He took points from both fighters and was a mess.
Well the only guys I see who are disagreeing with the ref ruining the fight are the Mexican fans who are saying stupid things like the ref's only mistakes were taking a point from Rios and not DQing Chaves earlier. It's annoying.
I had you figured as one of those guys, but I was wrong. Sorry. You are right, the ref was terrible.
He blew it, but it looked more like corruption than simple incompetence.
we agree on this 100%. This was hideous but ref was at fault big time. A better ref would have controlled it and would have a good scrap.
Corruption or incompetence? Not sure. For my sanity, I want to say incompetence
I wasn't talking about any nationality, race, etc. in particular. Just saying that these injuries seem to indicate that Chaves was dirty. And I am not a fan of Rios myself btw
Well if you watched the fight, Chaves was dirty. I saw it as a response to Rios' illegal tactics. That's why I say Draculich came up short. He didn't take control of the fight. If one guy is constantly fouling, it's obviously going to get ugly and it did. Chaves clearly headlocked Rios and took him down late in the fight. If he has a broken collarbone, which is not confirmed yet as far as I know, it probably happened right there. It was intentional. I was wondering when something like that was going to happen. Draculich really ruined the fight by not cracking down on Rios, telling him to stop fouling, to shut his mouth and to fight clean or get DQed. He should have done that back in the 6th round. He blew it, but it looked more like corruption than simple incompetence.
What sucks is people are talking about the DQ and the ref more than the fight
This was a great close fight that should've ended naturally
When Mike Tyson bit Holyfields ear the first time, he didn't get DQ'd
Yeah, I do hate when refs ignore clinching. It's against the rules for good reason, and it's definitely a problem that the refs don't really enforce that particular rule. Still, it's obvious to any serious, unbiased (read "non-Mexican") boxing fan that Rios was going to get the benefit of the doubt from Draculich. If it had been Rios who was clinching, there's no way he would have so much as lost a point. It's already been pointed out that Draculich has studiously ignored incessant clinching when it is coming from the A-side fighter.
Anyway, I do hope Rios is injured and will miss some time. He got caught cheating when Pac beat him up, but he was only suspended 5 months, which was totally meaningless. He needed 5 months just to recover from that one sided beating. I hope he's forced to take some serious time off.

Clncher lost, thats good for boxing.

I agree. Rios is not a dirty fighter. People need to watch Rios vs. Anthony Peterson and Rios vs. Abril. Chaves was clearly the dirtier fighter in there. That being said, the DQ was bullsh1t. Rios got lucky, he was on his way to losing the fight.
I agree. Rios, whatever his faults, always comes to fight.
Chaves could have won had he decided to actually box. Did better when he stopped clinching. I actually thought Chaves would be too much and TKO Rios. But given that a collarbone and an eye are not boxing injuries, seems like Chaves was dirty.
When NSB decides who not to like, reason is out the window.
Yes Rios is limited and gets hit a lot. Never seen him be dirty before, though. But now seems that he was getting his eye poked, and still people are acting like Chaves was just minding his own business pitching a masterpiece.
