I don't agree with the result, the official scorecards had Chaves winning too.
For me its a clear screwjob in favour of Rios and that ref needs to suffer serious dehydration from severe diarrhoea.
Slapped a poll up for your votes.
Chaves would have been a far better matchup against Garcia. The Argentinian got some serious power and could KD chinny guys like Broner, Peterson, Alexander, etc. Rios got an iron chin and was too much for Chaves.
This guy could serve as a serious TBA for Haymon fighters. Guerrero would demand $2 million if he's asked to fight this guy.
How is Alexander chinny?

In all honesty I watched the whole fight and here is my breakdown:
-Chavez was out landing him and winning the fight regardless of the stoppage.
-the fight was very dirty on both sides-ref lost control
-If Rios had better footwork he wouldn't have to worry about holding
-Rios was laying on chaves
-I felt like Rios was more frustrated with being hit by combinations for 9 rounds than the holding. Rios looked really banged up post fight
-Rios is very lucky to have escaped with a win
-Chaves is a better fighter/boxer than Rios. Rios still has a lot to prove
Chaves is a better boxer not a neccesarily a better fighter. Had he been a better fighter he would have won the fight. The fact he can't deal with pressure is what led to him holding, resorting to DDT's, and ultimately to the disqualification.
Both fighters were dirty and holding is a far lesser foul than headbutting. Vic lost control of the fight very early and dug himself a hole that caused the fans a very good fight.

Chaves was "lacing" him! He was warned about three different conflicts. The guy was above dirty he was going punk azz! He deserved the boot and the kick on his pay and a suspension! That's the way it goes, I haven't seen anyone Lace anybody on TV since the old ESPN shows I used to do in the 70's!
The guy could have won without all the BS, he got what he deserved!

It was pretty clear he did it at least two time and it's pathetic he wa acting like he didn't know what was going on.
Yeah but lets not forget Arum did his best to fuxk over Chaves including the delayed arrival. Come on people lets be fair here.
wow. yeah arum controls immigration. ......... come on now.
I had Rios up at the time of the stoppage and it appeared to me that he might be pulling away in the 7 & 8th.
Don't agree with all the point deductions but don't really have a problem with the DQ. Chaves knew he was on thin ice and on the verge of DQ and he continued with his tactics almost looking for a way out.
Agree that the decked was stacked against Chaves though with the late arrival, Bs first deduction it was a uphill battle for him to get the W from the start.
that was a dirty fight. i was out last night, so i didn't catch anything but the replay this morning on dvr. haven't seen any interviews with draculich.
i will say this, rios didn't appear to be lying about the eye gouging. i'm not saying i noticed it, only that rios appeared truthful to me. draculich dq'd chavez when rios reacted to that.
odd fight. part great fight, and part clinchfest. late in the fight, chavez was tying rios up almost instantly. it was hardly professional.
Great scrap last night.
I think the ref did a bad job but not for the reasons most are saying. Chaves came to fight dirty. The ref never got control of the situation. He didn't say anything about most of Chaves' foul so that when he took away a point it was awkward because he wasn't warning him. Then he penalized Rios to make up for the Chaves point. He should have warned Chaves for DDTing Rios but he didn't. Then the DQ was unwarranted at the time because there was no real foul, it was just Rios being fed up with the shenanigans.
As for the fight. I had it one point for Rios but won't argue the other way. I wish Chaves had more confidence in himself so that he wouldn't have to resort to all that dirtiness. He threw some beautiful shots and combinations. Rios tooka good punch kept the pressure and landed some great shots. He was not getting schooled but boxers clearly give him problems, nut boxers usually do that. Rios is still a good fighter. But I say no to this rematch.
Both guys were fighting dirty. So suck it up, buttercup. Happens sometimes.
Like his namesake, Rios should wear a leopard pattern diaper into the ring instead of trunks. He is overpaid gargage who steals his wins with help from the judges (Abril) or ref (Chaves).

Fight is different with a better ref
The Ref made it about HIM and not the fighters, that 1st deduction from Chaves just basically setup a reason to DQ Chaves early. Ref late reaction and not getting to the fighters quick enough to break and keep things clean is what allowed things to get dirty inside. If you see BOTH (not just Chaves but BOTH) fighters getting dirty inside then maybe you should get to them early to avoid the extra unnecessary stuff inside
Chaves is CLEARLY THE BETTER FIGHTER despite a "LOSS" being added to his record because I thought he was winning the fight and you take away the Refs deductions and he is probably up even bigger on the cards. He was blasting the sh1t out of Rios was some big shots, to Rios credit he took them well but Chaves was the better fighter in that ring despite the outcome.
3 Losses in a row would have basically put a end to Rios's career so I am sure that probably played a factor but to Rios credit he was honest and admitted that he did not fight well but regardless the DQ was BS. But if I am Rios fans yes I would blame it all on Chaves and be happy my guy did not suffer his 3rd Straight Loss :nonono:
vic draculich always does a terrible job. the second they introduced him i was like "noooooooooo". not just because he sucks i general but because this is exactly the kind of matchup he cant handle.
he just never manages to get fighters respect, he has bad eyes and misses just about everything. then when things start to unravel he panics and make bad calls trying to establish that he is in charge, but all he establishes is he doesnt know what he is doing.
right away i felt like there was a good chance this was going to go badly as a result. once both fighters started to complain i knew he wasnt going to be able to restore any kind of order and i could see it turning into a circus a mile away.
how this guy keeps getting work is beyond me. we know why laurence cole does but whats the deal with this clown?
Winning or losing it makes no difference! Chaves initiated two handed clinches continuously stopping the flow of the fight. He "laced" Rios twice and purposely dragged him down in a tumble. He was fouling him all night and was hoping to get Rios mad and forget about fighting out of a boxing style and just brawl. It working but Chaves got carried away and deserved the DQ to me.
Funny thing about it if he had focus he could have out boxed Rios easily and won but he wasn't smart enough to it!
Rios needs to stop boxing, its as simple as that!
He is a tough kid but he's a club fighter level guy. That's it!
