Man after the Geale fight I can't imagine any fighter that can give GGG a 12 round fight (@160). I think GGG's power is so amazing, and he can set up the punches to land so well that its impossible for any 160lbs fighter to withstand his onslaught. Not to mention his granite chin....
I know this fight will never happen as it does nothing for GGG. Still I think its an interesting match-up since Mora has a tricky style to go up against (even though he is obviously in the decline). How many rounds do you guys think Mora would last? I think he would last to 6.
Ive been wanting to see this one too.
HBO doesnt want this fight because they know Mora can go the 12.
Honestly, theyre probably still pissed after the Mosley-Mora PPV. Cant blame em.
I agree that Mora would be a good test, and yes Redfoxx he is definately no longer prime. Who else would be a test at 160 for GGG? Solimon? Sturm? Quillin? I honestly don't see either getting past 4 rounds with GGG. Mora is the only guy that makes GGG go 6 rounds...
I'm not so much trying to say that GGG is the best fighter in the world. I am saying that at 160 there is no competition for him. Mora resembles the type of fighter who I think would make it hard for GGG.
I wonder how Golovkin would do in the new Big Knockout Boxing promotion....lol
I think he goes the distance.
Mora isn't brilliant but hes underrated and for me, his style is wrong for GGG.
I'd honestly rather see Mora than anybody else at MW, at least there is a very good chance Mora can ask a few questions.
Why do GGG fans even entertain thoughts like this? Mora was prime 10 years ago. If Golovkin is a top guy, he needs to fight a top guy at least once in his career.
no more gatekeepers and no hopers for GGG. Its time for a fight vs a star or a noteworthy name.
So who do you think it's the criteria in the MW division?
This would be a very solid test for GGG. Mora has the style to bother GGG. He can make fights ugly, get up close, throw nice short uppercuts. Tie up when he needs to. He's recently shown some power as well. He could possibly take the fight into the later rounds.
Could happen... if Lou can get Sergio T.V time and GGG moves to the West Coast (Since his fmaily is moving to Santa Monica) could happen.... Sergio is becoming more T.V friendly, but he needs to be on T.V.
Would love to see Mora/Johnson.... clash of styles with the old snake against the smother Johnson
My memory fuzzy, but I think Mora will revert to his old style against Golovkin compared to his newer more offensive style. Sergio is slick and makes you miss, but gets in trouble if you can back him up into the ropes. While I think Mora did beat Vera.... GGG is no Vera and when he gets Mora to the ropes, it won't be as easy.
What I think, I'd have to re-weatch those Vera fights, but that's what I think I remember... could be wrong... watching Mr. Peabody right now...it's like a Modern Family reunion
I wasn't in favour of this fight initially, but if it means Golovkin going rounds with an opponent then I don't mind it.
Golovkin v Geale was good while it lasted, but...it didn't last and that's not really compelling when you've seen it before (GGG-Macklin).
GGG would walk right thru mora lol are u guys serious? Mora hits about as hard as malignaggi. The **** he gonna keep GGG off him with? Unless he has a bat with with him he ain't going past 4 rounds.
no more gatekeepers and no hopers for GGG. Its time for a fight vs a star or a noteworthy name.
He fights 3-4 times a year. These types of fights are inevitable. If GGG can't get Cotto, what other big name can he realistically fight in the fall. GGG/Mora is a solid fight.
This is the fight I want to see. Too bad HBO does not.
Mora would present a tough style for Golovkin. His movement and awkwardness would definitely frustrate GGG. Mora also has the height and reach advantage and has never been stopped.
Golovkin would win imo but it's a good challenge for him. If he could stop Mora that would be a nice feather in his cap.
