MANILA – Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao believes that he can still figure in 5 competitive fights before quitting his colorful boxing career that has spanned almost 2 decades.
But Pacquiao, who is set for a welterweight title defense in November, said he’d gladly retire right away if he gets that elusive bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
“'Yun ang hinihintay ko eh,” he said in an interview with Anthony Taberna on Tapatan ni Tunying on Thursday. “’Pag mangyari ‘yun, magreretire na ko.”
During the interview, Pacquiao recounted the phone conversation he had with Mayweather in 2012 when the American made an offer to fight the 8-division champion.
He said the controversial fighter wanted all of the pay-per-view earnings, which would guarantee Mayweather $40 million.
“ parang offer na hindi lalaban. 'Yung offer n'ya e wala ako, sa kanya lahat 'yung pay-per-view,” said Pacquiao. “Payag na sana ko kung 60-40 pero umiiwas talaga s’ya.”
This forced the Filipino boxer to consider other challengers.
On November 22 (November 23, Manila time), Pacquiao will be defending his WBO welterweight crown against another American, unbeaten fighter Chris Algieri.
The 5’10” Algieri is expected to pose a serious challenge because of his 5-inch reach advantage over Pacquiao.
But the Filipino icon said he doesn’t mind the odds since he has already fought taller guys and won.
“Hindi naman ... palagi namang ganun ang mga kalaban ko eh,” said Pacquiao.
He also hinted that he might go for a knockout against the 30-year-old Algieri.
“Exciting ito. Matagal tagal na walang knockout ‘yung mga laban ko.”

Hopefully he gets the fight then rides off into the sunset win or lose.
Even though he gives up height and reach to Mayweather, I always thought his footwork and angles would allow him good opportunities to nail Mayweather with more flush shots than normal. He has better stamina than most Mayweather opponents as well.
True. Floyd always takes over in the second half against fighters that gas out in the second half of the fight. Manny was able to do it for 12 full rounds. Look at Maidana. Had a great 5 or so rounds then gassed enough to get Floyd back into the fight in the second half of the fight.
After the Cotto fight, Floyd and company were very reluctant to fight Manny.

60-40 Pac whoops May's ass. That good ole' Roy Jones jr. love.
That's all he is asking for. May will keep pricing himself out though.
"I'm the star, I'm headlining fights with Maidana."
Stuff like that.
Manny wouldn't retire after a loss, which is exactly what the fight would be, he would get near shutout, Floyd would put on a clinic worse than when he did it to JMM. All my points on that.
Go lay down you must be dehydrated or something.
Pacquiao Mayweather would be competitive, stop being delusional :smashfrea
Why are so manny people mentioning money for Pacquiao? I've noticed he doesn't really care, Bob just offers him big pay days for bringing crazy amounts of revenue to him. Pacquiao wants to fight Floyd on an equal playing field for all the marbles.
Manny did bring up money in the interview, he said he's fine with 60/40 which is more than fair and what everyone thinks it should be.

Exactly."it's all about money to all the Floyd fans. One guy keeps saying he wants to fight the other..the other guy keeps making up excuses why the fight can't happen. You tell me which guy is the duck.
Makes sense for Manny. One last fight for the fans and then ride off in the sunset. If he wins he gets the glory. Even if he loses people will still say Floyd ducked him in his prime.
Manny will be President of his country one day, he will never be hurting for money.
He should have accepted the £40 mill if he wanted the fight or negotiated to £50 mill if he wanted the fight it would have been a career high payday now he never has nor will he ever earn that amount of money in his career.

Yep Manny wants the pay off fight , he loses and has no choice but retire haha , I still think the fight will happen ----------eventually lol .
Pacquiao has always wanted that fight. He openly tells it in his own country. Floyd couldnt even talk about pacquiao without overreacting and throwing low blows. Pacquiao would fight him at the cause of giving his share to the victims of yolanda, aftet floyd said he is just after the money because of his tax problems. Manny is the real fighter. Bob is just politics.

Everyone was underestimating Maidana before his first fight vs. Mayweather yet look at what happened. People saying he's going to get KO'd or was going to get Gatti'd but Maidana gave him hell. When/if Pac and Mayweather fight, it'll be highly competitive -- believe it.
Floyd couldn't even put a near shut out against Maidana
Yeah. Seriously. I'd take that bet all day. Lmao freaking Marcos Maidana took arguably 5 rounds give or take from Floyd. Pacquiao with a gotdamn cane and 50 years old is better than any version of Marcos Maidana.
Floyd Con artist of boxing...ripping off true boxing fans. TBE in ducking lol
Don't dream Pac. It won't happen. Ducksville is where
Floyd lives.
Are you one of those professional haters?:lol1:

But Algeri is the one?
:lol1:
I can be a hypocrite.
It's part of my charm.
As I have always said, 5 years ago, 3 years ago, now, it will always be the same result. No chance in hell floyd will beat manny. I don't feel like going into detail I've always done in these threads so I'll leave it at that.
