GGG:
Pros:
- No big names at 160
- Move up to fight Ward and possibly Froch for more money
Cons:
- Stay at 160 and fight Soliman, Murray, N'dam, Mora, etc.
- Wait for a potential Canelo or Cotto fight
Ward:
Pros:
- Cleaned out 168 already, no meaningful fights left there
- Kovalev & Stevenson at 175: money + legacy
Cons:
- Chavez Jr. payday
- Wait for GGG to move up in weight: big fight
Rigo:
Pros:
- Avoided by super bantamweight champions/top contenders
- Donaire, Lomachenko, Gradovich at 126
Cons:
- Frampton & Santa Cruz: biggest money fight for him
- Way too small at 126 (5'4"; small frame)
What do you guys think? Who should move up in weight and who should stay where he is? Explain why.
I don't think any of them have to move up, they still have fights at their current division. But I would like to see
Rigo vs loma, donaire,Walters, jhonny, mares, Russell, gradovich
Ggg vs ward Chavez froch
Ward vs Stevenson kovolev
GGG has to move up to 168 to at least fight Froch, Kessler, Bika, Rodriguez, Abraham. Doesn't have to fight the best that is Andre Ward, that's too much.
Ward should move up to175 for a big fight with Pascal.
Rigondeaux should move up to a much higher weight class. His style + the weight class makes for him not really getting much exposure. 126-135. I imagine how hard it would be for him to make 135, he probably would come in well below 135 if he ever fought there. I mean he's in his 30s and campaigns at 122, he's really not getting any bigger than 126. But go up there and fight Lomachenko, that would be a nice fight.
GGG should move up to fight the champ Ward and not Chavez for a money fightZ But Ward should move up to fight Pascal for a money fight but not the Champ Kovalev?
You're ridiculous. Blind hater

Out of those three names Ward is the one that should move up in weight. He wants the big money HBO needs to make it worth it an order for S.O.G to move up. Ward has cleaned up the 168 weight class. Rigondeaux & GGG still have some opponents that can get them paid.
I think canelo needs to move up because unfortunately 155lbs is not a division, and if he attempts to fight at that weigh again, I can see the fans causing a stir.
(In saying that, if he makes 154lbs , then kudos to him, but it will tax him greatly of his stamina IMO
Or stay at 160, keep knocking people out, become the "PEOPLES CHAMPION" and let the PEOPLE put pressure on the rest of the fighters to do the right thing and FIGHT HIM which is happening now
You're in the middle of watch him become a star and a draw, fans want things to get done too fans, no such thing as a microwave of life in which you can instantly make things happen. GGG is becoming in draw and a star, the ratings he brings on HBO shows that so NO it is no need to go chasing Waterfalls at 168 A DIVISION HE NEVER BEEN IN! 168 could become a option 2 years from now MAYBE
I don't like it either when fighters move up in weight just to collect belts without fighting the best fighters of the division. Recently, we've seen Broner and Mares do that. They are now three-division world champions but they never unified or became the king of a division, nor did they always fight the toughest challenges: Broner at 135 - Mares at 122 (Mares did fight everyone at 118 though).
However, when you have fought, and beaten, everyone that mattered in your division you can contemplate moving up in weight. Ward cleaned out 168, it could be time for him to look for new challenges at 175. Who is he gonna fight at super middleweight? Adonis Stevenson was a super middleweight, but he couldn't get a title shot. He took a risk, moved up in weight for Chad Dawson and it paid off.
Or stay at 160, keep knocking people out, become the "PEOPLES CHAMPION" and let the PEOPLE put pressure on the rest of the fighters to do the right thing and FIGHT HIM which is happening now
Of course he can stay. He's not obligated to go up or down I'm weight. These "rest of the fighters" you speak of.. Who would they be again? Sergio is done as an elite fighter. Cotto is using the not a big enough name card, Canelo isn't a middleweight and Quillin has had the duck label on him since he went to Showtime.

If this Golovkin guy was, say, 22-26 years old I could see where you're coming from. Unfortunately he isn't. He isn't a prospect, an up and comer or a guy who turned pro late. He's almost 33. Supposedly everyone at 160 wants no part of him. According to his manager, no one can make it to the 12th round at MW. So what's the point on feasting on fighters that have no chance? In his ten year run, have they not had enough of those type of opponents?
GGG has the options of Froch, Kessler, Bika, Dirrel, Ward, Chavez Jr , Degale, groves and a few more. Especially since no one wants to fight him at 160. So why waste your prime fighting or waiting for Cotto, Canelo or Quillin for?

When you become the champion of a division, you don't change divisions because then you lose your key negotiating leverage. That's why Martinez decided to stay at 160 instead of going back down to 154.
The best time to risk moving up is when you have nothing to lose. The fact that Golovkin isn't lineal champ and probably won't get the opportunity, is exactly why he should try his hand at a higher division. That he hasn't cleared the division is more reason to move than not to move if you're given a good opportunity. He has nothing at 160 and his negotiating leverage isn't dependent on his WBA belt. Getting an instant shot at becoming King of a higher division is a lot smarter than toiling in obscurity fighting no names for years just to unify against some weak ass champions.
Obviously, that is if Ward is serious about it after the lawsuit over. Until then, keep doing whatever he's doing at 160.
None of these three great fighters should move up one damn ounce. All three of them are fighting at a weight they can make with ease so why in hell should they handicap themselves by moving to a heavier weight they don't belong at and fighting men naturally bigger than themselves?????? Moving up in weight to a weight class they don't belong in is a good way for excellent fighters to get themselves beat. Look what happened to natural 126 pounder Gamboa. Let the other 122 pounders get their courage up and fight Rigo. Let the other middleweights get their courage up and fight GGG. Let the other 168 pounders get their courage up and fight Ward. The best fighters in the world shouldn't be punished for being the best. The situation with the lineal middleweight champ Martinez and now Cotto refusing to fight the world's best and highest rated middleweight, GGG is a disgrace in my opinion. A world champion has an obligation to the sport to fight the top contender every once in a while even if that top contender is very dangerous. Boxing at the championship level shouldn't just be about the champion making the most money for the lowest risks. True champions should take pride in fighting the deserving contenders and avoiding no worthy opponent.
Froch has beaten Kessler and Abraham as well, has a win, albeit disputed, against Dirrell, and since the Super Six beat Bute and Groves, with DeGale likely coming soon. Not to mention Pascal and Taylor before that.
He's done more work at the weight over time than Ward, though I wouldn't dare claim he's the #1 like some Ward haters do.
Means NOTHING because he lost to Ward...
Don't matter WTF he does he will always be #2 as long as Ward is at 168
So let me get this right....only a Heavyweight Can stay in one division and dominate their his entire career? Fighters fight where they are most comfortable at, neither Rigondeaux, Ward or GGG are struggling to make weight to my knowledge
So a fighter can't be a great fighter if he just stays in on division and rules...forget moving up, how about fighters emerge and go challenge them instead of only wanting to fight the #2 Guys in those division and your excuse being "THEY"RE A BIGGER DRAW"
So fans don't want to see their favorite fighters be the very best anymore?
Neither GGG, Ward or Rigondeaux are required to move up simply because the other fighters within their divisions are acting like scared b1tches and don't want to fight them so instead they would gladly settle for #2 LMFAO
Fans are really this fukin stupid or are some of you fans of others fighters and just want these guys out of the way to save your favorite fighter LMFAO

As you said Ward is clearly #1 at 168. Yes Froch has done more but you can't say he cleaned out 168 knowing he lost to Ward and got a very controversial decision against Dirrell. Cleaning out a division is not simply about facing everyone, it's about beating everyone you face.
He beat Froch, Kessler, Abraham, Bika. Froch cleaned out a division? Which one?

I knew cripple g supporters wouldn't support this coward to move up and take on Ward, Chavez Jr Froch or any of those guys. They want him to keep beating bums so they can keep building him up as some unstoppable force. Last guy they did that for even up getting knocked around by Danny and Rigo. .....
I don't understand how people can be so blind by saying Ward cleaned out the division. Dude didn't really do **** to clean it out but beat a guy here and there. Froch deserves more credit in cleaning it out way more than Ward, even if he lost to Ward.
