I think it's fair to say there is little chance that Golovkin's next opponent will be Canelo or Cotto. Soliman is being mentioned, but does the 40 year old offer much other than a belt? He has achieved everthing he ever will. It's hard to see Soliman's name adding much to Golovkin's record.
If Soliman was a step toward unification then I could understand, but in order for Golovkin to unify Quillin and Cotto would have to be willing to fight him and I don't see that happening.
Middleweight is an aging division, and Lemieux, 25, could very well be the top dog there in years to come. He has lots of natural talent and age will bring greater maturity. I think his future looks promising.
The other thing is, how many people will really look forward to Golovkin vs Soliman. It will be more of the same, and the audience will probably be smaller than it was for Saturday's fight. By contrast, Golovkin vs Lemieux would be keenly anticipated.
What do you think?
You can't compare anyone to an atg boxer, it's hilarious.
"Fighter A is a boxer, like mike Tyson was"
"Did he just compare him to mike Tyson, wtf is up with that, he's no Tyson, bullsh1t comparison"
Calm down people, he compared 1 small aspect

No he shouldn't, not unless he can't get Soliman, Kirkland or Quillen in the mix... He definitely won't get Cotto or Canelo, they're handlers wouldn't allow it!
Soliman is a much better option than Lemieux, facing title holders is always more prodigious than Prospects, he's a tough awkward fighter and the fight would do big business in Germany or Australia where both guys are name fighters!
Lemieux would get blasted very quickly, he's a massive puncher but so was Curtis Stevens and he couldn't dent Golovkin, but he's not as durable as Stevens who's squat stature made for a difficult target!
The fight would sell roughly the same as the soliman fight would in New York, so it would be only viable in Canada.. Point is it would be better to fill a stadium in Germany or a large arena in Australia and unify a belt than blasting a Contender for Canuck bucks!!
GGG KTFO Lemieux. LEmieux has power but trust me, he gets KO very fast. I am from Montreal and seen Joachin Alcine beats him, wich is a shame. I was there for the Rubio KO too. Lemieux is overhyped big time here in Montreal. I see him get KO in les than 4.:boxing:
Yeah, why not. Lemieux last lost almost 4 years ago. Has good pop, hell be there to fight, so why not? GGG fighting in Canada would help get his name known even more.
I would rather see Lemieux fight Quillin. It has the potential to be more of a 50/50 than either of those guys against GGG. The winner could face GGG. I'd go with Lemieux to stop Quillin early. But they are talking Andy Lee vs Quillin and I'm not seeing Lee beat any of these guys.
Would most likely be a waste of time. People want GGG to fight lower tier fighters that are perceived as dangerous because of their power, and then they complain about GGG's level of opposition. Make up your mind.
After the Soliman fight, if GGG can't secure a Cotto/Quillin/Canelo fight (as I expect), then he can still fight Murray.
Dan says the only way he'll give credit to Golovkin is if he clears the division... then would rather have in a fight Golovkin will blast out instead of clearing out the division
Soliman brings more to the table for sure but from a boxing fan standpoint I'd much rather watch Lemieux in there than Soliman just because he has power and would go out on his shield at least.
GGG vs Soliman would be like watching a lion go after a deer
I agree but Lemeuix is at least as deserving as Curtis Stevens. I think he's a better fighter than Stevens. Golovkin would win but it would be a fun fight to watch while it lasted.
Both will be a gore fest and both would end in KO, both early.
Not saying Solimon is going to be any better, but at least he's unifying.
Lemuix is only fun for about an extra minute because he'll wing a couple of shots before being crushed
GGG is the best at MW but the division is horrendous. I'm sorry I just can't give credit to a guy I KNOW will win by knockout in 2-3 lop sided rounds.
Just like I give Wlad zero credit when he fights guys like Leapai, Wach & that other big snorlax.
The only fighter at MW I will give GGG credit for again is Sergio Mora & that is because I believe that Mora's style is all kinds of wrong for him. I do not think that is an easy fight because of styles. If GGG handled him impressively, I would give him credit for sure.
These others guys? No, they're complete cannon fodder.
There is not a hope in hell that Michel will let Lemieux anywhere near GGG.
They are positioning Lemieux for a shot at Kid Chocolate. The writing is on the wall.
I don't blame him, good move.
I feel he definitely has a chance against Kid Chocolate who looked horrible when Rosado pressured him.
Lemeuix is going to get blasted while he comes in winging and this will end within three.
Why not grab the belt instead of prolonging it?
Don't even bother... dude doesn't care who GGG beats in the MW division... went on his little queer rant about it.... now he cares?
The guy who got beat be an ancient Alcine... then he has the balls to think Lemeuix would be a good fight while blasting a way better Macklin?
Lemeuix gets killed.... and he's just going to rip the fight afterwards
It is such a weak division I can't give him great credit for anything. If he cleared it out then props and its not his fault. Its a bit like Wladimir in a way only he had Haye a few others.
Dude clearly doesn't care what GGG does, he's going to rip him regardless.

Why not grab the belt he should've won with Geale?

Chances are both get blasted out inside 2-3 rounds, maybe 1 so why not Lemieux? At least he comes to fight and would go down swinging.
He has big power as well so that would always be interesting & we're yet to see GGG against a true pressure fighter.
I'd much rather this than Soliman

Nope, I think he wins inside 3. Its just a better preference to Soliman.
If he gets hit by Lemieux and takes it well, I'll most certainly praise his punch resistance. IMHO Lemieux is more heavier handed than Stevens by a good distance.
Sadly for Lemieux he hasn't really got anything outside of power & bull like strength.

Would you give him props, or would you just rip Lemeuix afterwards.... sounds like you would give props

If he can't land a major fight, then Lemieux would be a fun scrap.. I would rather see ggg fight Solimon and take another belt..
I have a feeling over the next year that we won't see ggg vs cotto, canelo, froch, ward but will see him fight Rubio, lee, Lemieux, Solimon

Should Golovkin Consider Fighting David Lemieux Next? | BoxingScene Community
