HEARN: NOT ENOUGH MONEY FOR GOLOVKIN-FROCH
Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn ruled out a fight between his fighter IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch and WBA 160 pound champion Gennady Golovkin last night, saying that the money isn’t there for a fight between those two fighters to be a pay-per-view event on HBO.
Hearn said on his twitter “Not enough money for it – not quite HBO PPV yet.”
Hearn is probably right, unfortunately. Golovkin still isn’t at the point where he’s become a pay-per-view star despite having knocked out his last 17 opponents over a 5-year time span. And, Froch isn’t even close to being a big enough star in the U.S to make a Froch-Golovkin fight a pay-per-view worthy fight. As good a fighter as Froch is, he’s not as popular as Golovkin in the U.S, so there’s no way that a Froch vs. Golovkin fight would be a PPV fight.
Froch is talking about wanting to retire soon which makes a fight between him and Golovkin even more improbable in the future. Hearn says the fight isn’t “quite HBO PPV yet,” as if it’s a fight that could take place in the future. While it’s possible that Froch could stick around until 2016 or so, it’s not likely. It’s going to take at least that long before Golovkin to become a PPV attraction.
HBO kind of put Froch on the spot last night in their telecast of the Golovkin vs. Daniel Geale fight in which HBO commenter put up the following quote from Froch in an old interview on Sky Sports: “Just swerve Golovkin like the plague. He punches like a mule. I don’t need to be in with him. Dangerous fight.”
Some boxing fans feel that the quote was taken out of context in order for HBO to make Golovkin look better than he actually is. If Froch, a great fighter, is seen to be afraid of Golovkin, it helps boost his credibility with fans. This trick or may not have done anything in the eyes of casual boxing fans. It depends on how familiar they are with Froch. It’s quite likely that they’ve not heard of him, so this quote probably did little to raise Golovkin’s stature with American fans.

Shameless duck :nonono:
Pointless debating with Diggler, its like him saying that Cobra was being sarcastic even thou he was dead serious about GGG during the interview.

I guess so, he seems sensitive sometime. He'd probably like to deflect any Froch ducking talk since it might make Froch seem like a ducker, which he's farthest from.
Like I told you, he wasn't talking about retired cripples at all:

How can GGG become a PPV star when nobody will fight him?
Exactly, these ****suckers complaining that he isn't a draw, how the hell is that going to happen is no one ****ing fights him?
Talking about retired, crippled boxers.
Golovkin fans and their minor victories :lol1:
Like I told you, he wasn't talking about retired cripples at all:
Cotto would get annihilated and, in terms of British talent, Martin Murray doesn’t stand a chance. I’m not being disrespectful to Martin when I say that, it’s just if you’re a middleweight you’ve had it.
He wasn't saying GGG beats up on retired boxers with hip issues, he gives zero chance to anyone fighting at middle presently. Maybe he thinks he was a cut above, but doesn't sound like it at all. Some British irony at play?

You've posted an interview from a retired Barker who has the hips of an 80 year old man you absolute mong!
Typical propaganda/spin

He said a lot more than that, as did Barker. I even bolded some juicy parts for you, reread it. And watch the video if you haven't yet!

Yeah and Hearn said they'd make the Golovkin fight if it made financial sense.
It's not complicated.

They said they are willing to step out of their division for a fight that makes financial sense, like a PPV. It's not complicated.
So how did you miss that Hearn video?
Yeah and Hearn said they'd make the Golovkin fight if it made financial sense.
It's not complicated.
I'm confused, did they say they weren't making the Ward fight because GGG is unranked at Super Middleweight?
No they said it doesn't make FINANCIAL SENSE.
Enough with the damn spin.

GGG MW champ. Barker then MW contender.
SOG SMW champ. GGG unranked at SMW.
Surprised how poorly informed you are when the facts are inconvenient. That Hearn video's been posted many times, though it's only recently been clarified in that Barker interview.

Which is understandable, given Barker's opinion of GGG:

Barker fought Sergio Martinez at the peak of his powers. When exactly did he duck Golovkin? Boring attempt at trolling.

“I don’t think Geale can hurt Golovkin,” said Barker, with a sigh. “He’s not a massive puncher and although he put me down with a body shot that was the only time I was ever hurt. Daniel is going to have to work hard and put it on him, but his biggest problem is the power. If he can take it then he has a chance because he throws so many punches, but I don’t think anyone can beat Golovkin.
“This guy is the total package and you have to be superman to take those shots. I hope Daniel doesn’t get stopped because I’ve spoken to him and he’s a really nice bloke, but I can’t see anything other than a late knockout.”
When speaking with Barker one gets the feeling that, like most of us, he sees something incredibly special in Golovkin who is the No. 1-rated middleweight behind THE RING champion Miguel Cotto. It’s not so much that he was solely writing off Geale, in essence the former titleholder predicted doom for the entire division.
Barker said, “There’s nobody going to bother Golovkin at middleweight. Gennady will have to move up because he’ll batter anyone at 160 pounds. Cotto would get annihilated and, in terms of British talent, Martin Murray doesn’t stand a chance. I’m not being disrespectful to Martin when I say that, it’s just if you’re a middleweight you’ve had it.
i'd like to see it and despite the title of the thread I think it's a possibility at some point in the next year. froch takes on all comers and other than chavez who is left for him? Degale? lol
GGG, his team and fans need to be careful what they wish for.
If you haven't worked out by now that Froch ducks or fears no man I don't even know where to begin. If GGGs team is serious and so sure then send an offer Froch can't refuse and he will happily kill the hype. In truth it is that simple with Froch and always has been.
Remember GGG didn't shine too bright against Adama, you like his chances against Froch? I don't.
Martinez, Cotto, Froch, were all fan favorites before Golovkin came into the picture. Fans seem to throw fighters under the bus for a new fighter every several months. The love isn't real, same thing will happen to Golovkin when he loses.
Lol funny thing. I want to see this fight real bad though. Golovkin's people turning down fighters who want them because there isn't enough money, then GGG gets turned down for the same thing. Just fight Ward, Mora, Lara, etc those who are willing to fight you.
