First of all the TS is a straight up Beeyatch and just started following boxing after he saw Broner's boner on TV for the first time. Second of all if I were Cotto I would fight GGG for the unification belt. Make it happen but only at 155 Lbs if not he can go one making peanuts fighting the Qullin's of the world..:D

Ordinarily I'd say Cotto is too small to fight Golovkin, but he is now the reigning middleweight champion of the world. If he expects anyone to respect and recognise his title, he must be willing to face all fighters within that weight class. Cotto should accept the fight or vacate the title and move back down to 154lbs.

Put it at MSG, It symbolizes the rise of a new champion, the rise of a new possible cash cow.
GGG vs Cotto is step 1 for ggg becoming a ppv star. Beat somone badly on there home turf in front of his own fans and the casuals watching on TV So the Casuals can Learn the name Gennady Golovkin
Step 2, Fight another ppv fighter, Canelo, He should not be a ppv fighter but he happens to be one, Beat him in front of everyone and the casuals who waste money to see Canelo fight on ppv.
Step 3, Fight Chavez Jr, Jr should not be fighting on PPV's but the fact is simple that because of his name and the fact that GGG has been beating all challenges put in front of him will sell the fight. Though I want to see this fight, it is a fight that can wait.
Step 4. GGG is a PPV Star at this point and after the Chavez fight, He gets to lose to Andre Ward. Andre ward should be a ppv fighter and though he probably will never be one, he can still fight on PPV's anyway. Another fighter has to be the selling point. Ward will never lose, Ward beats GGG.
they can't gamble in new york...
MGM puts in a ton of effort to get huge fights at their casinos.
Why would both fighters, who have built their names in the NY area in in particular MSG, fight in Las Vegas when all their fans are there?
It would make more sense to have it in AC than in Vegas.
no way cotto and GGG is in Vegas. Gotta be MSG. Both fighters home base.

How much do ye reckon Cotto would pull in if he split the purse 50/50 with canelo as opposed to say 75-25 with GGG.? No idea myself just wondering.
I honestly can't see why Canelo would get 50/50 of the split vs Cotto. Cotto made $7million in his last fight, Canelo made $1.5million. Both were the A side of a PPV bout.
Anyway, I think Cotto would probably make $5million against Canelo - I can see Canelo make a little less than that.
it's tough to say. canelo and cotto would do 600K buys, especially on a mexican holiday weekend. that's my guess. maybe even a bit more. it would be a big, big fight. vegas, high rollers, closed circut sales, the whole nine. it's all about casual fans, and rich ones to boot.
who knows what cotto - golovkin does. maybe half of that? and who knows what it will bring to vegas?

Making GGG-Cotto in Vegas would be a funny move.

I don't see it as a duck because we all know he's not going to fight GGG and the only reason he did a gig at 160 was because there was a lot of money on the line and Martinez was shot.
Simple. He's going back down to fight Canelo probably.
That's the problem right their with fighters of today. People think this is normal way for a fighter to act. You win a belt defended it against the best in the division,I don't want to hear this crap about it's the end of his career or Iam the "A" side I can do what I want BS. Why waste people times with match ups that are not going to happen. Fighters need to stay at their weight where they belong or put up and fight the best
Of course. Cotto is the lineal MW champion, Golovkin is the generally considered best MW and his main threat. When the champ doesn't fight his main threat, that's a duck.
That being said, I wouldn't hold it against Cotto unless he fights someone else at MW and still won't fight Golovkin.
That's where I am with it.
It's only a duck if he starts campaigning at MW without fighting GGG.

It's a duck, so sick of these fighters wining belts at weight class they don't belong in and think they don't have to fight the best in the division. Wining belts don't mean crap if you don't fight the best in the division. Cotto sham accomplishment will be short lived no matter who fights
Depends who he fights next? if he fights Ron Salsa then yes its a duck but if he goes after Chavez jr or Canelo then no.
Lol this is true. If its Ron Salsa then Cotto def avoided The G man.
He'll probably take a bigger more lucrative fight so no
This ^
Cotto is on the tail end of his career. Right now a fight between him and Canelo is much more lucrative than a fight with GGG. Now if fighting GGG was more lucrative than fighting Canelo or Chavez Jr and Cotto chose one of them instead, I would call it a duck. Cotto is not one to duck. I think his resume speaks for itself.

Its only a duck If he fights some pointless fight instead of GGG...
A fight with Canelo I can understand but a fight with the winner of Jarrod Fletcher and whoever else?
Yeah you get the point.
He just went to middle to make history not to make a living their. If GGG really wants Cotto he'll have to come down to 154/155. Canelo will be next though.
lol @ the sheer terror of gennady golovkin.
cotto will pick and choose for the rest of his career. he will avoid golovkin like the plague. miguel "money" cotto.
