Just seen the HBO version of Golovkin-Geale where they pulled out a quote from Carl Froch saying he'd "swerve" GGG. Here it is at 9.45
It was clearly a tongue-in-cheek comment. Anyone who knows anything about Carl Froch would realise that. Is this another case of Yanks getting KO'd by Irony again or something?
HBO are worse than the fanboys on here. They can't use actual wins to hype Golovkin because he has none worth mentioning so they have to twist quotes and invent perceived ducks.
carl froch fears no man not named gennady or andre.
deep down, he knows he lost to dirrell as well. let's be real. the guy owns a TV, has seen the fight, and knows how to score a boxing match. he lost.
not true, dan rafael, jimmy iowa, graham houston, allan green, manny stewart, steve bunce, jim watt, and the press row all scored it to froch..
You tubes best boxing pundit a american scored it to froch
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxWNh7QjoKo
I scored it to froch by 4 rounds and i was there live at ring side.
But most importantly the judges thought froch won...
Have you had a fight with Sergey kovalev mate???
In the most recent edition of Boxing News Froch said about the comment:
"It was tongue in cheek back then... What I will say though is this guy can f*cking punch: he's dangerous and if he can be avoided we'll avoid him. I'll stand by that and I don't give a sh*t. But I'll fight anyone. I'll fight Golovkin, of course I would. At Middleweight he's dangerous but you don't know what he's going to be like at super middleweight do you... Having said that, with what I've seen lately, he looks like he can punch at super middle."
Which shouldn't be too much of a surprise. Groves has the type of power than can change a fight in a split second. Golovkin is a beast but if Groves can drop Froch I don't see why dropping Golovkin is so far fetched.
Golovkin hasn't really fought anyone with Groves' speed or counter punching ability. GGG has no real defence so it's not farfetched at all.
What facts did they twist and misrepresnt? Did Froch say it? Ok then.
Froch said it but he was clearly messing around.
HBO misrepresented what he said by implying that Froch was serious and obviously so scared of GGG that he would duck a fight with him. Really lame on their part.
There were rumours that Groves decked Golovkin in sparring

Heard it from a guy, who heard it from someone else :lol
It sounded very believable.
His resume is top class, but he himself is not better than GGG in anything. Anyway, I really want this fight to happen, should be terrific.
Well, I think it's hard to say when one fighter is fighting proven world class champions and one is not.
This is not me hating on GGG, but his best win wouldn't even be top 10 for Froch.
Why do you assume that? :lol1:

Well, Froch knocked Groves spark out last time out, and he's better than anyone GGG has faced.

I assume that rumours of GGG dropping Groves in sparring are true. Probably we will here more about this later. "Heavy favourite" maybe a bit of overestimation on my side, but I will not be surprised if it turns out that way.

Yeah because all humans are robots who only make matter of fact statements :pat:
I knew there would be a plethora of fuktards in this thread.
I agree that Froch probably meant to sound sarcastic. But what is really funny that GGG is a supreme fighter and will be heavy favorite against Froch. Probably that is why many people can`t appreciate Froch attempt at sarcasm.
You don't actually believe that, do you?

I'm not so sure he'd be the heavy favourite or even the favourite at all.

i'd guess that ward is probably close to 200 lbs when he's not training, considering how long his layoffs are. most modern middleweights / smw are going to walk around at 185-195 lbs. i don't believe froch when he says that he walks around so light. i can't prove that, obviously, but i have a hard time believing it. he'd have to run a ton year round, and eat light to keep his weight down, considering that he's the same weight on fight night. he'd have ot take in a ton of extra calories to keep from losing weight when he really starts to train hard and spar, if he's walking around at that weight at rest.
i don't see how you can think size has nothign to do with this. they're in the same division, and froch is the second best SMW in the world. it's a more relevant fight than mayweather - marquez II. the first fight wasn't close, but it wasn't the schooling that mayweather put on marquez. they looked like they ddin't belong in the same ring. froch at least looked like he could hurt ward, and take his punches. marquez had to hook up with a steroid guru to not look like a fat, old man at WW.
Hard to know but he walked to the ring at 172 for the first Groves fight. I'm pretty sure Ward comes to the ring much heavier than that albeit I'm not 100% on that.
Floyd and Marquez are in the same division but again it's nothing to do with the weight the point I was making is that Marquez said he doesn't want to rematch Floyd, this was at a time where he was universally considered the second best Welter in the world and that's because why would he? He was dominated the first time. Much similar to Ward-Froch 1. Why would he rematch him when he was dominated the first time?
I'm not comparing the fights I'm comparing both Marqeuz and Frochs reasoning for not being keen on those rematches.

Andre Ward is quite a big SMW I would say. His body is quite big, and he's surprisingly strong - which comes from the size. Broad shoulders etc. Is Froch taller than Ward?
Froch is much leaner, and at least according to himself, he walks around at 175ish. I heard once that Ward was upwards 190-200 which is quite a lot for a SMW.
No no. Wait a moment.
We can only use his words for gospel when it suits our agenda.
Exactly.Thread should of been ended with everyone agreeing on how pathetic HBO are instead of this 100+ page b.s.
Well I might be mistaken but Ward blows up to 180 ish
between fights right? Comes to the ring in the 180's. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Froch walks around about 175. He was 172 walking to the ring for the first Groves fight.
Either way the size of them is completely besides the point.
