And wow... Lara just gave that fight away didn't he, I had Canelo winning the first time and this time a draw. Not only did Lara stop doing anything (I think the body shots had a lot to do with it) but Canelo is so limited as a fighter I don't know why people think he is the "future" of boxing. Firstly, Canelo is slow as hell and has absolutely no concept of what cutting the ring is. Secondly, why did he not fight the entire fight like he did that 4th round?
The 4th round was the only time he showed anything "special" to me, those lunging shots at least cut the ring. Also, I just can't be how slow Canelo actually is and how he has no clue on how to set anything up, he is a very limited fighter. All that being said I think he still deserved the nod but only because Lara did nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing once he got that cut over his eye. Usually I don't belive in the "guy trying to make the fight" argument but in this fight it certainly fit. Lara and Canelo both need some new trainers but at this point... neither one is anyting special, they both need a lot of work. Personally Canleo has a higher ceiling than Lara, that guy is scared to be hit and does NOTHING but run. I'm drunk now and I was watching the fight, (hey it's saturday) but in reality neither guy deserved that win.

Canelo is faster than you think and he's not limited. He's not a pressure fighter you baboon!
I just watched it again as well seen the fight in person the fight was close but you have to understand those body shots canelo was throwing did not land clearly.Lara landed more and at a better percentage. Canelo was eating left hands since round I . canelo didn't do nothing but try to box I'm glad mayweather and lara exposed canelo and I hope every fighter does the same as well you'd be a fool to stand there and trade with him.but Oscar has to do everything to save GBP
I watched it again myself and I think Lara won. But he could have made it even more convincing if he didn't lapse in the mid rounds. I had it a draw the 1st time, but this time I thought Lara actually won the 12. Canelo did come out strong in the beginning but Lara put that round away with the solid counters and lead lefts easily.
My new score card.
1. 9-10>Lara
2. 9-10>Lara
3. 9-10>Lara
4. 10-9>Canelo
5. 10-9>Canelo

7. 10-9>Canelo
8. 10-9>Canelo
9. 9-10>Lara
10. 9-10>Lara
11. 9-10>Lara
12. 9-10>Lara
of course you thought lara won farakhan jr.
of course you did.
Really? Farrakhan Jr? Oh, I'm sorry am I interrupting you masturbating to your Hitler posters!
Keep your comments to yourself inbred. This is just a boxing site, no need to get all aryan on me.
Funny how all the "good" boxers are afraid to mix it up with this "limited" fighter Canelo. What's special about him is the power and fluidity of those 4-5 punch combo variations, the uppercuts, the jab, the punches. Of course he wasn't able to show that off against Lara back peddling tough all night.
So instead of missing upstairs all night like he did against Mayweather, he ripped to the body all night. That's what he learned from the Mayweather fight. The body doesn't move.
Canelo's not great but he's a good fighter. If he's so limited then how does he keep beating these slick boxers? Even if you think he lost to Trout and Lara, the fact that he was competitive means he has some skills at least. There are guys who don't look special but still manage to get the job done, like Froch who's #5 on your P4P list.
I understand that speed is relative to the guy you are fighting, and Canelo is still slow as sh*t and predicable. Looking fast against Angulo is like being proud your porsche beat a Nissan Sentra, it's expected.
Canelo isn't slow, he's actually fast with good handspeed.
If you want to argue something about him is slow, it's his footspeed.
how can you say you thought Lara won by 115-113 but then say he gave the fight away but being more offensive?
lol?
Lara lost, Clearly IMO but thats not here or there, like I said how can you say he won by 115-113 but then say he gave the fight away but being more offensive?
You need to win more than 7 rounds to beat Canelo on the scorecards. 12 rounds only gives you a MD
Lara's response after the fight is why things went down the way like that. In the back of his mind he convinced himself that he was going to get robbed; for some fighters this would cause a sense of urgency but for him it created the state of mind where he was content with just executing his plan. He was unable to understand that he needed to do a little bit more.

Lara lost the fight more tha Canelo won it, if that makes sense to you.
If Lara outlanded Canelo by 20 shots instead of 10, he would've gotten the nod (actually I'm not sure about that, Martinez is sitting in a brand new Ferrari right now)
I agree with TS about Canelo being limited. I didn't see anything different since the Trout fight, Chavez Sr said Canelo didn't look good and he hadn't learned anything since the Mayweather loss.
Fire Chepo and get yourself a real trainer Canelo
I said this so many times since I saw the fight, Lara was a huge disappointment. This was his coming out party, this is his biggest chance but he just didn't take it with both hands in my opinion, at least Austin Trout went for it and to be honest there is more of an argument that Trout "won" than the Lara "won" brigade (Put in mind that Trout suffered a KD).
I still think Lara won 115-113 but he didn't fight up to expectations. He gave the fight away by not being more offensive.
his defensive tactics actually hampered his offense to a huge extent and this is why he lost a lot of the middle rounds

i feel the same way ... Lara won but who really gives a f uk? he gave that fight away by being extra boring no one cares that he didnt get the nod because the fight was close enough anyways
He most certainly did give that fight away, loved the point where he took the punch to the rings and dick the reverse running man around the ring. I like Lara but he kinda fkd himself big time with that performance.
