The argument about which gloves Marcos Maidana could and would use for his first fight with Floyd Mayweather brought drama up until the last minute.
Though the rematch is official for Sept. 13, Maidana and his team had been coy about whether the Argentine brawler would be able to use his preferred gloves this time around.
There’s a reason for that.
“To tell you the truth, it hasn’t really been finalized yet,” Maidana told reporters in a conference call on July 14, with Golden Boy Promotions’ Eric Gomez serving as a translator. “As you know, in the first fight, he didn’t allow me to use my gloves. I’m sure that’s going to be the situation again this time.

floyd didn't even want maidana to wear the comission approved gloves. Such bs and you floyd fans support shiiit like that.
but when its someone else then its why should that person make it public how much he got paid, thats between him and the fighter that paid him, etc. LOL
They may also have made Maidana's camp sign something stating they could not talk about the true amount of compensation. One of those "We will agree to X amount, but you can not mention it" type of contracts.

This shows that Maidana isn't phased in the least by Floyd's antics.
I wonder what people would say if Marciano, Pryor, or Sanchez didn't want to face a legit challenge fair and square.
They having a tour yet the one most important issue to Floyd hasn't reach yet!
Bullshlt... Team Maidana is the most stupidest team in boxing!
If I were Maidana I would act like a diva this time, Floyd's team knows him is the easiest to promote. Floyd doesn't have a good partner to tango except Chino.
Let Floyd be a laughingstock in the history of boxing because he doesn't want his opponent to wear an approved gloves!
As opposed to the dude who came into this thread waving his pom poms that Maidana didn't get paid for the glove change......And? If he did or didn't, what is your point?
"Oh yaaay Floyd gots to keep his money" :lol1:
I bet that loser is the type to keep discussing something he claims isn't "salient." What a f*cking clown :lol1:
He must really be a loser :lol1:

Such a good memory! You don't forget many things, do you?
Well, I actually do remember. I was trying to be cordial.
By beginning with "I could be mistaken but..." allows one to keep it positive. Considering, I could have read a false report and the other person could be completely right.
It's a great way to be cordial and present an opposing position. These boards can be extremely confrontational.
And to answer your question: Yes I do! haha I have a terrible memory! :-)
I could be mistaken but didn't the commission approve one of the MX pairs? At least that's what I remember reading.
Hell, that is where this whole topic stems from. If the commission did not approve ALL of the MX gloves then that changes the situation completely. But, if the commission approved at least one of the MX pairs presented, then we find ourselves back here.
All in all, it probably turned out to be a good situation for both Mayweather and Chino. If the money given is true, then everybody won.
Personally, I don't think gloves win you fights. I am just enjoying the finer details of the situation. It's fun to discuss. :-)

Ok, we can speculate then. But the fact remains that both he and his manager said they didn't get any monetary compensation.
Yes, sir. They did say that.
Okay I'm going to take a break. This coffee has got me going a million miles an hour. haha
I don't see how it changes anything. He still wasn't allowed to wear his gloves whether he was paid or not.
... Back to the issue... again and again...

It seemed like you were trying to make a salient point. I guess you weren't.
Nah I was just pointing it out for those who pretend he got $1.5m. Move along.
The speculation comes from a possible disclosure agreement between the two parties.
Chino saying that he didn't receive any money does not eliminate the fact that he may have received something.
I do take Chino's word though. If he said that he didn't receive any money for the switch, then what else is there to do than believe him? I just sincerely hope he received something of value. It was a strong position for negotiation at the time.
