Definition of a close fight.
At least 61% of the media did watch the same fight as I.
Danny Flexen (Boxing News) : 117-113 Canelo,
was obviously watching another fight. He did even bother to score two 10-10 rounds when he couldn't give them to Canelo.
FightersRated : 115-114 Canelo
Steve Adams Jnr (Punchperfectpugilism) : 116-113 Canelo
FightersRated : 115-114 Canelo
Boxing Chat : 116-114 Canelo
Tom Gray (Ring Magazine) : 116-113 Canelo
Mario Mungia (ThaBoxingVoice) : 115-114 Canelo
Steve Adams Jnr (Punchperfectpugilism) : 116-113 Canelo
All these guys scored at least one round as a draw and gave the fight to Canelo. (10-10 rounds are pretty rare nowadays)
Only two saw a 10-10 round and scored the fight for Lara.
Nigel Collins (ESPN FNFs) : 115-114 Lara
Paulie Malignaggi (Showtime TV) : 115-114 Lara
In any case, people will convince themselves that Canelo did in fact 'beat' Lara and Trout in close fights that could have gone either way, and ended up his way by pure coincidence.
Like the JMW belt was handed to him by pure coincidence. He was weight drained against Mayweather and the fight was closer than people think.
CJ Ross didn't know her carreer was over after scoring the Pac fight for Bradley, she was just old and half blind, and Floyd won anyway.
Lara was running and Kirkland is a live dog.
very Kafkian ...
No Dan Rafeal? LOL
Canelo more active missed alot. Lara not too active but crisper cleaner shots. Still had Lara win in a close fight. Same people who think canelo won probably thought maidana won against floyd based on activity. Close but clear fight for me.
Excellent assessment
There is a trend in Lara fights. The fights with Molina, Vanes and now Canelo. His style just opens the door for him to get the short end of the stick.
This is the 3rd strike. What he is doing is not working and he needs to evaluate his trainer and himself.
I agree with you.
In that regard it seems to me that his way of fighting hasn't changed from the amateurs.
He is content to 'score points', get the lead and then wait for his opponent offense.
He looked like an olympic boxer who knows to be ahead in an final . He took no risks and coasted to what he expted to be a victory.
For what I know though, teaching a fighter , especially one as skilled as Lara to let their hands go is quite difficult.
The "This is not how I fight " wall is a difficult one to break down.
I had the fight a draw 114-114 but 115-113 either way is fine with me. I think the 117-111 score was crazy. I think judge Martinez had Canelo winning going into the fight and the only way Lara could win was by KO.

True, but for example lets take Floyd & Pac and there fights. Floyd fought Castillo and it was close 115-113 either way or draw, same with Pac's Marquez fights. Floyd gave a automatic rematch and Pac gave Marquez 3 rematches when he could've said no. I get the entertainment value, but i get pissed how first Danny Loses to Herrera IMO it wasn't close i had Herrera winning 8-4 and Canelo has close fights with Trout which wasn't a boring fight so that could've been made again and now Lara and either get rematches?
De La Hoya never gave Whitaker or Quartey rematches in close fights. And rematches with Floyd and Trinidad never happened for whatever reason.
I guess he just doesn't believe in rematches.
you can see he jumped too far back before his toes touched the ground, I don't think he realised how close he was to the edge of the ring[/QUOTE
you can't see the toes in the gif, but watch the way his leg reacts. it comes into contact with the ground with plenty of time to react. it's the right leg to make the change in direction, and he's balanced until he slips. he's a world class athlete, and would have easily been able to change direction.
he was in a fighter's corner. the canvas will be soaked and slick.
you can see his toes and the ball of his foot touch down and slip. he would have been able to change direction and move left if it hadn't slipped.

I don't think the public wants it. Alvarez and De La Hoya are aware of that. As good as he is, Lara doesn't make for entertaining fights.

That's not a good comparison, only 10% thought Maidana won. Maidana fight was close too but you couldn't see him winning it.
