To save his career he needs to fire Ronnie shields and replace him with an offensive minded trainer... And fire his manager decubas... He's useless fat and taking up space he already has haymon as an advisor what he need decubas leeching money off lara
Lara looks horrible limited on offense..
He has great movement but all he really throws is the jab and lead left..
Very little hooks, uppercuts, body shots, combinations or variations of his punches...
Lara needs to get with roger mayweather or nacho to learn how to open up on counters.. He makes guys miss but never makes them pay
Very well put sir.
OT: how do you send the green thing below our avatar?
Lara's been a full time fighter since he was a kid, at this point in his career I doubt he changes much regardless of who trains him. Not all boxers have what it takes to be considered elite, he's a damn good fighter and has nothing to be ashamed of......
Lara can't and won't have a dramatic change in style. He is 31 and has been fighting with his style for many many years. He is not only comfortable executing it, he is damn good at it. The only thing he could really do about his fighting style is improve on it further. Stop relying on legs alone and throw more combinations. When he threw combinations and landed them with ease on Canelo, it made Alvarez step back at times. He was able to keep Canelo at bay when he was actually being offensive and when Canelo managed to slip in Lara used his beautiful leg work to find an escape. However, he didn't counter as much as he should have and is clearly capable of doing. He did throw more than Canelo but he could have thrown a lot more. Canelo was open for counters all night due to his strategy but Lara didn't use it to his advantage, instead of moving away while throwing a stiff jab at Canelo's face.. he would just move away without even attempting to throw anything. Lara could have easily won if he would have performed the way he did during the first 3 rounds the entire fight, sadly he didn't and Canelo's body attack paid off.
Lara needs to develop a defensive posture along with an inside game.
- No defense to mention, which is why he has to move so much
- No inside game what-so-ever ... none, which make his game predictable
- No variety in his punches, which is why he's predictable and limited
- Too fleet of foot, which is why the judges won't favor him in fights
In all honesty, Lara has the physical athleticism to accomplish all of the above. He just needs a trainer that will drill them so that they become second nature and incorporate these attributes into his routine.
There is hope ... but he has to start by losing the attitude he displayed pre-during-post-fight.

He's like Vlad Klitschko, but instead of holding he runs and throws the occasional jab and str8 left. Oh and he holds too
If canelo couldn't adjust to Lara's limited offense then what does that say about Canelo :dunno:
Canelo needs to improve, he needs to learn to pressure more effectively.
He's fine, he arguably won at the weekend. How many clear losses does he have in his career?

No Changes just ADDITION TO HIS OFFENSE!
You have two hands...USE THEM BOTH! Try using your Right Hand to setup the left! Also he is not good at fighting inside, get more rugged inside, too many times against Canelo he just complete stop fighting when the fight got inside and just looked at the ref while Canelo kept working inside
Nothing wrong with fighting off of your back foot at all but mix it up, fight inside a little, he had the hand speed to pick Canelo apart and counter but he just wouldn't do it
Ronnie Shields is a good trainer of Athletic Boxers but all of his fighters fight TOO SAFE and not enough of a Killer Instinct, I seen the Charlo Brothers who train with Lara do the EXACT SAME THING! Jermall Charlo actually does have a Killer Instinct and has showed it his last few fights. At some point in the fight you gotta plant your feet and get some punches off and show your opponent that you can beat him ANYWAY YOU WANT!
He has the talent and physical gifts but his mind is still stuck in the amateurs. Roger or Sr would fit him well. He should throw more punches, vary his attack and he seems to be content with his opponents letting off six punch combinations on his body. That's no good.
Lead with the left as oppose to constantly looking to set it up. Canelo knew exactly when he was gonna throw even when Canelo got clipped he knew.
A credit to how rudimentary canelos defense is
