Simple enough question really, so do you think so?
Since winning the vacant title in a farcical match up Canelo has faced:
Rhodes
Gomez
Cintron
Mosley
Lopez
Now the quality picks up
Trout
Mayweather
Angulo
Lara
His only loss comes to one of the best on the planet currently. Trout and Lara are considered leading 154 pounders and Angulo is the hardest puncher in the division.
My list previously looked like this:
1. Floyd Mayweather
2. Manny Pacquiao
3. Timothy Bradley
4. Sergio Martinez
5. Wladimir Klitschko
6. Guillermo Rigondeaux
7. Juan Manuel Marquez
8. Carl Froch
9. Adonis Stevenson
10. Danny Garcia
11. Saul Alvarez
But I think I can now comfortably place Alvarez in at 10 with Garcia moving down a notch.
I would put Canelo on the list somewhere between 8-10. Everyone's list will vary but I have no problem with Canelo, Roman Gonzalez, Froch, D. Garcia and Cotto being on the bottom of PFP lists.
Canelo has a close win over an undefeated Trout that just beat Cotto and his only other loss was a bad style matchup against Lara. He destroyed Angulo. Then he has a close victory (could've gone either way) over Lara who has never been beaten legitimately beaten before and is hard to look good against. And finally has the Mayweather loss which doesn't hurt his standing much.
Mikey Garcia should be in the top 15 I think but not top 10. He has good wins over Salido, Martinez and Burgos and a decent win over Juan Ma (and he won in spectacular fashion as well). Estrada is another name who should be in the top 15.
I was looking at the PfP lists and noticed Ward is still top 5 or so***8230; yet Canelo has fought Trout,Mayweather,Angulo and Lara in a year and a half or so and he is still yet to crack top 10 :)
Only one of those guys were ranked in the P4P rankings and Canelo couldn't even win a round. You can put Floyd in there with ANY of the top 10 P4P guys and even he would at least win a round, even against Wlad. Not to mention the only guy he convincgly beat was a washed up, C-class, never has been and never will be. If that's P4P material you guys have some pretty sh*tty standards.
ward's resume is one of the best ever at 168, and it's better than froch's.
i don't know how anybody can value froch so highly, and call ward's resume bad. ward fought froch at the height of his powers, and annihilated him.
as for danny, you have to value highest in a p4p list a fighter's last fight. danny should have lost to herrera, who is nobody special. herrera lost to mayfield, and prior to that he lost to alvarado.
mikey garcia beat the garbage out of salido, who went on to beat loma and that queer guy. he also beat two 130 lbers who were champs in burgos and maritnez.
p4p lists are about the next fight. what have you done lately, and how good do i think you are based on that?
He is inactive, I would call him closer to retired than an active fighter. The super six was 5 years ago, he beat Dawson (made him come down 7 pounds) and the last guy he fought was Edwin Rodriguez. He also is saying guys who have never fought at 168 (GGG) are ducking him expecting them to move up, yet he won't move up to 175.
He beat Miguel Vasquez twice, once in a 4 rounder at 140lbs and again in a 10 rounder at 148lbs.
PFP? I think he's a clear win or two away from it.
Yeah but tbf that was veryyyyy early in both their careers, can't take either fight seriously although it's a good name to have.
But how can you say he is a win or two away, he has just beaten 3 of the top 4 best guys in the division. what more can he do? he is almost unbeatable at 154 apart from mayweather and possibly lara in a rematch...there's not too many guys in other divisions that can beat him either.
I agree with this..
why do you agree with mikey being a p4p top 10 guy ?
You have Danny over Canelo?
more like
"you have danny in your list?"
danny doesn't belong in the P4P top 10, no 140lb fighter does right now
no 154lb fighter belongs there either except Mayweather
He could easily be in top 5 at the bottom of it or just around the mid-range of top ten.
The top five in no particular order
Wladimir
Pacquiao
Ward
Mayweather
Who else is really worthy of being that number five?
Maybe JMM but I'd pick Canelo due to recent fights, he has prove himself worthy.

value last fight? Ward fought some unknown 168 pounder last time out, is that p4p worthy?
And no one is discrediting the Froch win, who said they were? lol come your nuts out of Ward's ass.
not a bad list but how can mIkey be above Danny? Makes zero sense
Yeah the Lara win propels Canelo just above Danny and miles above Mikey.
It is ridiculous how bad Ward's resume is tbh but that froch win and the terrible Kessler "win" are worthy mentions, plus, in terms of his skill level, it's clear that there are few fighters in any division that could beat Ward.

Yes.....

10. Mikey

He could be somewhere from 8-10,, his resume is a lot better than mikey Garcia, ggg and probably Danny

Lara has done the exact same as him though....
TKO'd Angulo first (dropped twice)
Dominated Trout
Either way fight with Canelo
And heres what Canelo has done:
TKO'd Angulo
Either way fight with Trout
Either way fight with Lara
If you have the capability to look beyond paper decisions, youll learn much more
This man says it like it is !
Plus the bs scorecards in every Canelo fight with the exception of Angulo, who was either paid off cor completely shot.
And let's not forget the Majority Decision Loss against Floyd . As long as his carreer is filled with this crap Canelo is not P4P material .

So Alvarez has to beat cotto then jumps on your list or does cotto stay even though he lost to Floyd n trout and beat a crippled Martinez
Cottos last four fights vs canelos last four fights
Other then that your list is pretty good no garcias or gggs
Cotto has a solid resume. He fought Mayweather on pretty even footing and did much better than Alvarez. He put a beating on Martinez who I personally didn't rate very high but he was the Middle weight champ.
Cotto's last 4 fights have been more impressive than any of Canelo's wins or loses. With the exception of Trout, Cotto showed he is a cut above Canelo at this point (even though Cotto is not longer in his prime).
I personally have Canelo 1-2-1 in his last 4 fights.
- Draw with Trout
- Shutout to Mayweather (If Canelo had a better showing vs Mayweather he might have edged out Rigondeaux in my list but he got schooled)
- Beat down on Angulo
- Close loss or draw to Lara
1. Money
2. Pac
3. Ward
4. Wlad
5. Bhop
6. Froch
7. Cotto
8. JMM
9. Bradley
10. Rigondeax
