Were there variations of gloves in the 70s/80s/90s?

I see many fights back then and all fighters have the same red glove. While there are no logos etc, I can't tell if fighters had different gloves back then. Anyone know the history behind gloves and when they became so varied? Glove variation goes way back. 70s/80s/90s you had Everlast, Reyes, Casanova, G&S, Spartan, Tuf-Wear, Grant(90's) Before then you had some of the brands above and brands like Benlee, Seyer(Reyes backwards), Flores, Post, Sol Levison, Yale, Rawlings, McGregor. Way too many to list.

My sons gloves have a web on the thumb so they don't bend back and break thumbs like mine used to if it caught on a hook wrong .. Ouch haha

Actually I see in pictures like Leonard-Duran that they are actually using Reyes gloves.. so idk. I think Floyd didn't like how Maidana's gloves made his outfit look better than his thats why he made Maidana change. Im not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure reyes fight gloves have always been horse hair especially back then

I've wondered this as well I've heard my coach talk about how they used to have horsehair padded sparring gloves and foam padded and everyone would want the horsehair because they hurt more but as far as getting to pick your glove and brand and having so many variations of them for a fight seems pretty recent
