This is a very bad match up for Manny, stylistic nightmare for him.
This is the opposite of Maidana vs. Mayweather, because Maidana is tailormade for Floyd he is a flat foot slow guy, who Floyd can hold onto.
Algieri is a mover, tons of stamina, he is a big guy, 5 foot 10, long reach, good jab, hard to hit flush. He is Pacman's kryptonite according to what a lot of Mayweather fans say, they say Pacman cannot handle boxers who move a lot.
This is a very dangerous fight for Manny, but Pac also gets props from me for giving Chris a chance, this is like when Barrera gave Pacman a shot at 126 from 122 pounds.
Pacman didn't do jack in 126 and was a champ at 122, and went up in weight to fight for the lineal ring championship against Barrera.
I don't get why some Floyd fans are trying to think this is a cherry pick or horrible match up? when Algieri has a huge chance to beat Pac, he is a bad match up for Manny given what they said about Manny having trouble with movers, and he is much taller and longer than Manny.
This is far from a cherry pick fight, a cherry pick is if Manny fought a tailormade opponent who will just stand there and let him tee off.
WE also know Chris is a live dog, he has a big chance to win and he will fight his heart out, just like he did against the much more difficult opponent in Rusland, Ruslan was tamed by Chris. Chris will give his all he will jab, stick and move and outclass Manny, if Manny wins I will be impressed because like many Floyd fans have said he has trouble with movers.
I would rather see Floyd Mayweather in with someone like Algeiri than Maidana or another slow plodding boxer.
Algieri is a tall, slick fighter, who moves. Provodnikov is a slower, plodding fighter who punches hard. Yet Provo got to Algieri and hurt him badly. If he hadn't telegraphed his big left so much and head-hunted after the first knockdown, Ruslan would have won on the scorecards. Pacquiao is faster than Provonikov (hands & feet), hits hard, and is a southpaw. It might be a hard fight for Manny, but it would be harder for Chris.
My thoughts exactly, but you are forgetting the mental part of the game. How will Algieri handle being on the biggest stage of his life? I don't think he can perform to the best of his abilities, the nerves might get to him before Pacquiao does.
Algieri has earned his shot at Pacquiao.
I'll be watching this fight.
But I won't watch Maidana-Mayweather, because Floyd is demanding his opponent wear extra padding in his gloves.
So since Algieri beat a fighter whose best wins in his career were against Mike Alvarado and DEMARCOS CORLEY, he has earned a shot at what most consider the 2nd best fighter in the world? Algieri just fought on ESPN2, now he deserves Manny. JUST WOW. All he beat was Provo. I swear you guys go with a new flavor of the month everytime the wind blows.

lol at this fool trying to defend this joke of a fight. I cant even imagine how people would crucify Floyd if he ever fought a guy like Algieri.
But hey, its Pac, so lets give him all the free pass in the world. We'll do Rios-Pac II after this
He fought Guerrero and Ortiz and you guys said it was a great matchup. Add in the Floyd boys comments about how Manny is afraid to fight an undefeated champion in his prime, well, this solves that. But as usual, you guys get what you wish for and still cry about it.
I'm not sure about that either...
The question is how will Manny deal with going up in weight to fight the P4P king the questions that are unanswered is will Manny be able to move as fast when he is fighting at 200+ lbs and will he be able to hurt Wladimir Klitschko...
I doubt it.
Using sarcasm to avoid the obvious question.. nice try
If you guys think Algieri is a bad style match up for Pacquiao than how in the hell is Pacquiao supposed to ever beat Floyd? If a B level "slick, counter puncher" like Algieri is supposed to give Manny a tough fight HOW IN GOD'S name is Manny going to handle the P4P best boxer in the world?

Don't see why Floyd slurpers are so mad?
Its a great fight an undefeated guy who doesn't know about losing...
Compared a guy who Devon Alexander made easy work of same said with Khan and even Erik Morales had more right to deserve a decision victory over Maidana than Floyd did :lol1:
I just don't get it...
Its like when Floyd is fighting NOW we should score fights a certain way but whenever its someone else the Floyd band-wagoners don't seem to care much

lol, this is the craziest thing i've read. Broner's better than Algieri and him getting beat around the ring by Maidana was more entertainmant. Manny ends this garbage Rocky story. But saying Algieri is better than Maidana is retarded. B+ my a$$
Broner is not better than Algieri.
Algieri is able to box, Broner can barely move his feet.
Algeri is a B+ fighter, Maidana is probably B- or a C+ fighter.
You have to give Pacquiao his due credit, he picks the hardest fights and meanwhile Floyd was fighting a flat footed brawler the Pacman was fighting one of the most talented American welterweights who had all sorts of different things he could bring to the fight...
Why did Floyd struggle with a linear fighter?????
