Champions in the past have sprinkled in easy bouts between their tougher matches. Riddick Bowe fought Michael Dokes and Jesse Ferguson, for example, in between the first and second Evander Holyfield fights.
If you look at Danny's career he's been in against one good fighter after another. Up to and including Mauricio Herrera.
Is he entitled to take a soft touch?
There should still be some standard for how "soft" a soft touch is allowed to be. At least fight someone who's ranked in the WBA/WBC at 140. Garcia will get crucified if Salka makes him look bad. Additionally, this fight is taking place on Showtime, not on ESPN/NBC/FOX. This match-up is ****ed up, and it doesn't matter what lens we choose to look at it from.
Can you guys really blame Haymon and Garcia Sr for protecting Danny Garcia?
Lets be real, dude has a asskicking waiting to happen.
Thurman ko's him.
Porter ko's him
Devon outboxes him
Mayweather outboxes him
Khan will win the rematch
Timothy Bradley outboxes him
Algeri outboxes him
Ruslan ko's him
Pacquiao ko's him
They are trying to squeeze as much as possible out of Danny
NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, HELL NO! You're the WBC, WBA, Ring champion, you should be fighting world class fighters, not local overachievers. I will not support this decision at all. Hope this thing flops big time so they can be forced to put on better matchups.

No:boxing::boxing::boxing:
Typical ShoulderTroll. He'll soon start arguing that Stevenson deserves another tune-up because he struggled against Fornfarna.
Just because Garcia struggled and arguably lost to Herrera doesn't mean it was a great match-up. There were far better matches to be made than Herrera. And I don't even need to start on this next monstrosity.
I used to think it was a black thing with this guy but he's actually an exclusive dickrider of Al Haymon fighters.
Manager fanboys....welcome to Boxing 2014.

Campbell, Holt, Morales, and Judah don't count. Yeah good names but not fair when Danny is in his prime. The Lucas and Khan fights, sure.
And to answer the question. If there's nothing else out there, fine take what you can get. At least attempt to fight someone who is a legit "soft touch".
But no, when you are THE champion why should you be allowed to fight anyone other than the best available contender, (promotional BS aside) just because you were in tough previously (which is the whole point of being a champion).
I worked hard yesterday, I'm going to sit here and do nothing all day. Nobody would have a job if that was the mentality.
just look at the record of this world beater:

danny is thea freaking lineal champion at 140. there is no higher belt.
there is no greater insult than putting a fight like this on freaking showtime, which costs me $20 a month.
Lightning Rod is not an easy touch for anyone. He has 3 highlight reel kos and just schooled an undefeated Cuban amateur sensation.
That he did, That he did.
in between the khan and judah fights, the dude fought a freaking rematch with erik morales...
this fight is hugely embarrassing. danny's ego must have taken a huge hit against herrera. i can't see any other reason to take this much of a step back.
the guy is 19-3 and has three f#cking knockouts. three of them.
The real problem is the card is terrible. Haymon or GBP pulled Porter out of the Brook fight for whatever reason and put on three poor fights as replacement.
Of course. Fighters coming off losses typically come back with a gimme.
Lol feels that way doesn't it? Garbage card.... I'll be enjoying the beach that weekend
All good bro I have no angst toward you either I agree I hate this salka fight should have just fought Peterson and gone ahead and moved up.
hes not going to beat peterson thats why hes not fighting him. him and his camp know that.

No he does not deserve a soft touch and neither does any other world champion!! He's a freaking world champion, there are so many deserving fighters waiting patiently in line while taking on tough fight after tough fight in the hopes of one day earning a shot at the fvcken title!! Why would the champ deserve to keep that title hostage while he takes a freaking break. If you want a soft touch or want to go on vacation then you need to vacate the title and take a vacation from your profession.
Furthermore, all of this deserving of a soft touch talk I keep reading about everywhere is just plain moronic and unbelievable in the sense that so many so called boxing enthusiast would try to justify anything short of the best possible fights.
