I still think Russell Jr has the goods to be a very good fighter. His lack of competition against anyone good showed tonight....big time
Lomachenko just put it all together in there, aside from some inactivity that made the fight too close.
I would take Russell in a heartbeat over Gradovich. Gradovich is made for Russell. Comes forward, not much power, easy as hell to hit. He could pick up that title.
His hands are too fragile to be a top fighter IMO. He was just throwing slaps in there. It's such a shame cause he has incredibly fast hands but I just don't think his hands will hold up.
I though Russell was going to win but he got his clock cleaned. I don't think the fight was close at all and I don't remember more than one or two rounds that Russell won. He clearly lost most rounds on my card. Russell is good but he lost to someone much better.
I personally think Russell will be mentally shot after this. At the end of the day, he just lost to a 1-1 prospect who's done more in three fights than Russell did in 25. I don't care how nice the am. Pedigree is, in the pros, experience counts for alot, and Lomo seriously outclassed him, with only 2 fights under his belt. I think that'll be a hard pull to swallow.
To prove his worth, he's going to demand tougher outings to Try and get a rematch, and he will fail. I also think he needs a new trainer
Lom looked sensational. Russell is a fantastic fighter who can still make some serious noise.
Exactly. He showed a lot as well. Just a level below Loma but both will be champions I have no doubt.
What do you think Marroquin did to Rigo exactly? Lol RIgo dropped him and won easily you are basically saying the dude is that good that doing OK in some parts against him in a clear loss should be taken as a victory. I know Rigo is great, but damn to you he is God :lol1:
He didn't even do okay in parts. He toughed Rigo with 2 punches the entire fight, and was dominated every single second outside of those.
You sound salty, you saw what Robert Marroquin did to Rigo. Donaire was never the same without Pedguru Victor Conte, since he didn't use him for the Rigo fight, and we have seeb a different fighter since the departure. Something to think about.

Or perhaps Rigondeaux is that good.
I put a lot of stock in Loma beating Russell, but more into the way Rigondeaux completely embarrassed Donaire at the top of his game.
Both will have plenty of offensive droughts, but I believe in Rigondeaux's D against anyone in the world. Marroquin.....that fight was 2 years ago. Rigondeaux has looked MUCH MUCH better in the fights since then.
Just no more TBA's please.
Like he would never let Rigo near Donaire
Like the dude said he learned his lesson from that even now he still salty over that fk up lol.

Wtf did marroquin do besides get best the fuk up lol. U love hating Cubans don't you. It's gonna be ok I promise
I don't think Rigo at all makes easy work of Loma. Could he win a wide decision on the cards? Sure, but every round will be a nervous one. Loma can hurt that dude. Loma would certainly be a underdog but he'd be a live one.
Problem with Gary Russell was his sh*t competition.....
He was LOST at times when Lomachenko showed lateral movement. That was Lomas biggest weapon in there.
I still think Rigondeaux beats Loma, in a very boring fight.
Arum learned his lesson. He would never let rigo fight loma
I wish Gary wasn't so flat footed but you are correct. He will be a champion someday. The guy has heart and a good chin. He reminds me of Bradley. Even if he is over matched or getting hurt, he keeps coming and trying to win the fight. He didn't just try to last to the final bell. He threw a lot and tried to win rounds off activity.
Tonight, he ran into a special fighter who is extremely crafty and talented. Lomas movement and sharp punching accuracy was too much for him but I think Gary will come back stronger and learn from this fight. Kudos to both fighters.
