And that problem is LISTENING TO HIS CORNER!!! anytime a boxer refuses to listen to his corner and get angry at what they say then that fighter can not grow. You are never to good or to old to learn and grow. In the sports world this is what we call an uncoachable person all the talent in the world can not replace open ears and the willingness to learn and grow as a athlete
He hardly moves his head and when he does slip he doesn't counter.... He doesn't know how to adjusts, simply when maidana was catching him with fients and the hook and overhand right he coulda just took a step back, and during the fight he was backing up into a straight line and staying on the rope.
He's definitely in a state of denail.
He has so many holes in his game and refuses to adkowledge that.
His defense isn't good but he believes it is. He has so many flaws.
AB's problem is simple.
If he stands in front of a puncher at 147 he is going to take punishment.
He is pretty flat footed and defensively suspect.
No convincing wins at 147, and some pretty average displays at 140.
I am warming up to AB, he is always going to be at risk at 147 now so the fights should entertaining.
His problems:
Doesn't punch enough
Doesn't move
Leaky defense
All while thinking he does the above great, when he doesn't.
His main problem i think is going up too soon. And at 147 at that. Weight wise alone, the Maidana fight was an utter mismatch. May was able to withstand Maidana because he is bigger that Broner and skill is on a different level. Broner should have tried 140 first.
AB is just tooooo arrogant to listen to mere mortals.
this, he is too arrogant to take anyone's advice. i remember thinking during the fight how disrespectful he was with his own corner
I think broners problem was that Maidana applies too much pressure, hits too hard and from too many weird angles.
Broner just wasn't ready for Maidana. He's too young and inexperienced to tango with a veteran and battle hardened bull like Maidana.
I agree alot of people forget how young he is, hes just not ready he should have stayed at 135 his last 2 fights then went to 140
It's easy to watch a fight and say " oh that guy should have listened to his corner"
It's a lot harder to be in the ring while Maidana is pounding on you and trying to take your soul.
You are missing my point, the point of a trainer and a corner is to see what you can not see and tell you what you are doing wrong. They told Broner this and he even got upset and them and refused to listen. I am not discrediting Maidana i am just pointing out that a trainer, a coach etc is there for a reason and to not listen to them reflects on the fighters attitude to learning and listening
No, Broners problem was display against the De Leon robbery. Broner doesn't know how to transition offense to defense or defense to offense. Malignaggi proved that too, and obviously Maidana. If you have good work rate and put pressure Broner will have lots of problem. He needs to reset every time he do something.
Sorry but he wont be elite and He aint MayweatherWell the issues you listed can evolve from a fighter not properly listening to his corner and thinking he knows everything,,a hard head makes a soft ass
The irony is Mike Stafford is a very humble guy. Met him after the Demarco fight and he is the opposite of Broner's ****y persona. He knows his stuff and Larry is right Broner should trust him when the going gets tough.

what it boils down to is a phrase depicted among many scholars and wizards of the sport. A phrase used to describe a prospect whom was subdued by the force and strength of a veteran. When the future of a young man is at stake, there exists only one absolute truth.
"He young doe"
Wiser words will never be spoken.
