Cotto would win because he's a G.....Nelo is still a young buck trying to earn his stripes....Cotto takes the kid to places he's never been before IMO :lol1:
jokes aside, gotta see how Nelo deals with Lara...because thats this years boxing version of the SUPERBOWL imo.....Nelo might earn enough stripes to make me favor him over Cotto...but as of now, Cotto beats him...and beats him up as well
I pick Canelo Alvarez to win by knockout or technical knockout because he's very fast, strong, and has great boxing skills which make him a very well rounded fighter.
I'd have to say Canelo. He's just too young, strong and explosive for Cotto to handle. Cotto has skills but I don't think he'll be able to seriously hurt Canelo unless Canelo gets sloppy and has poor defense. Canelo looked awesome against Angulo and if Canelo can explode on Cotto like that then it can be an early night for Cotto.
literally could not have said it better myself :boxing: Canelo > Cotto
I think Canelo wins a UD/SD. Too big, too strong, too young. Not to mention he's not shot to sh*t.
Great fight though. I would expect alot of back and forth action and cant wait to see it.
I thought canelo before the martinez fight but i think his experience plays a key role and movement. Its a close one to call right now but cotto is looking refreshed and canelo still has a tendency to tire in the middle rounds. Il go with cotto on SD
Didn't vote! I can't make the call on this one.
I think it will be a GREAT fight. Fireworks galore. Someone is going down. Just get the fight made.
The winner will be...us fans!
I'd have to re watch some of their older fights to make a more informed prediction but if I had to pick right now, I'd go with Cotto. Canelo is good but his stamina is still very questionable, and Cotto knows how to cut the ring off & attack his body to break him down. Dude has some underrated boxing skills.
Canelo's advantage is he's not war torn, thrives on guys w/o a lot of head or lateral movement and that Cotto also has a tendency to fade in the later rounds, so it'll definitely come down to who wants it more imo.
I voted for Canelo by KO. I used to think Canelo would win very easily. But after seeing Cotto look so great against Martinez I think Canelo would be in for a very hard fight. Canelo is a very hard puncher with both hands while Cotto has a great left but only average power in his right.I give Canelo the edge in handspeed and he take a better punch. Cotto is past prime but with Roach he seems better than ever before. Canelo is very dedicated and he is only 23 and getting better with every fight. It would be a great action fight with lots of good punches landed by both men.
Ill try to be objective and fair.
Cotto by UD/TKO.
Miguel can box better, has better foot work, ring generalship, can stalk better/pressure, they are about even in terms of defense, they are about even speed wise, Canelo may be bigger but Cotto has the ring intelligence.
In terms of power, they are even.
So Ill say:
(*Numeric value to weight in on a scale 1-5, 5 being Much Better and 1 just about even)
Ring Generalship/Ring IQ = Cotto 3
Foot Work = Cotto 3
Stalk/Pressure = Cotto 4
Defense = Even
Hand Speed = Even
Power = Even
Youth = Canelo 5
Stamina = Cotto (very close) 1
Size = Canelo 4
That's how I see it. Cotto by UD or Stoppage >9 rounds.
I think that Canelo's chin is subject and we have not seen him being taken deep with someone who can stalk him, cut the ring on him and attack him with combos to the body and head who has power.
who you got winning at this point in time?
I said this after Cotto lost to Trout, no matter what, Cotto still beats Canelo.
Canelo is starting to grow on me and he has really stepped it up in terms of competition but he is too flat footed and slow for Cotto.
