Does anyone have any examples of top tier fighters finding KO/TKO power late in their careers?
One example that comes to mind is Steve Collins. The guy retired early but seemed to be an average puncher, then just at the tail end of his career after getting a title he seemed to either gain power or some kind of physical edge that he didn't seem to have before. He started stopping very good opposition when before he couldn't always seem to do it.
Lets post and discuss. Thanks.
Steve Collins is my pick.
lool exactly
the PED problem isn't one of race though, it's one of affluence and athletes in the US have more money thus more resources to buy PEDs...which athletes from poorer nations just don't have.
Yup, and it also shows the stupidity of these Floyd fans, they take what he says as if its FACT. Floyd is the same moron who said we all know the Philippines has the best PEDS or STEROIDS. What a moron, PEDS are super expensive how the hell can they afford to use them.
Floyd and his fans are weird, imagine if they were to judge people in court? these bozos will judge out of emotion and not fact, they will say my gut tells me you are guilty so you are guilty lol because I believe you are and that is good enough for me. Bias
I think you are referring more to the black power Flowmos, you must be specific here.
It's kinda Ironic since the majority of PED users in Boxing have been Black guys.
I have yet to see one Filipino or Asian caught using something yet. But Its okay for them to accuse Pacman of having taken peds, yet these are the same guys who play the race card and say its unfair to judge a black man for how he dress or the company he keeps without the hard cold facts, smh

Then the guy comes out flat against Bradley when he's being watched closely, turns around against Alvarado and looks like a million bucks again while sporting bad backne.
The acne does raise flags and concerns but comparing his performances against Bradley and Alvarado doesn't give Bradley justice. Alvarado was getting his face punched in, as expected. He was staying in front of JMM doing nothing, wouldn't throw until half the fight was on the books. Then Marquez lands a massive right hand that staggered Mike and he tries to find leverage on his left leg while it was complete spaghetti, loses balance, leans in on his said limb and stumbles across the ring due to a lack of balance. It wasn't like he was obliterated and sent flying across the ring lol. Plus Bradley didn't stand and trade vs Marquez like he did vs Prov, he knew he could potentially suffer getting KD or KO if he did so, respecting Marquez's power but above all, his boxing skill and punching technique.
Regardless Marquez does seem to have gotten stronger at an older age. He has always had KO power but the Manny Pacquiao KO will always be a controversial ending due to the history and manner in which it occurred. Oh and any technical boxer with decent pop will damn near always look spectacular and blistering fast against fighters in the likes of Alvarado, not meaning to degrade Mike's skills it's just that styles makes fights. Mike is there to slug it out regardless of how much Alvarado attempts to box(VS Rios it worked, but then again Rios isn't known as a boxing genius), and any decent boxer can abuse the opportunity to land impressive combos and weave out, like Marquez did.
lol at black fans saying Pacquiao hahahahaha
seriously though, colins is a terrible example, he was stopping guys cos he was fighting fighters who were shot

So is hopkins, and many other truely professional fighters,,, True pros stay in shape year round, and i dont think that makes you a ped user, just a true professional that takes their craft serious..
In terms of wlad, he had good technique and great size... I dont have any reason to think he is juicing, but IMO lots of top guys are juicing, i dont know which ones, but i think nearly everyone is juicing at the very top..
The money is just too good, and there is virtually no consequences
While in shape year round, Hopkins never had that 'yoked up' physique like some guys. He never had popping veins, etc. He's just always looked good at whatever weight he was fighting at. Wlad is yoked always.
Advanced ages but not shot.
almost shot = you're ready to get stopped. it was hardly immense, world chattering power though, unlike what we've seen from Marquez.
So do you think Wladimir is on something?
The dude is super 'in shape' year round.

To be honest I thought Marquez was clean until the Alvarado fight... he hasn't tested positive but the acne was something else
Toney looked like a beast in that fight. Too bad he was most likely juicing in it too.

Lots of guys are just heavy handed ie foreman
but others are just juiced out of their minds....

Ped's don't improve power or speed so why take em if there not enhancing anything? if it's all technique then they should be taking technique enhancing drugs.
He will say it's just for stamina but we both know that's garbage.
JMM may or may not be on PEDs. However, his punching power has nothing to do with this. I have to assume that most people here have never boxed because people who box should know that taking PEDs won't improve your power. If Paulie starts taking PEDs he won't start knocking people out. Punching power is 90% technique. Speed is important too but it's mostly technique because the speed difference between fighters for a single shot is less than you would expect. This is why some apparently slow fighters hit like trucks. Fighters that get their weight behind punches, on the other hand, hit hard. It's as simple as that. While most fighters can do this on the bag, doing it in the ring is another matter altogether as it requires timing, confidence in committing to punches, a willingness to take shots etc. It's simple physics: KE=mv^2/2. This energy is what creates the force to spin the head so that the brain moves inside the cranium, which is what produces a knockout. To increase it, you need to increase m by getting heavier (not an option if you have to compete within weight categories) or by improving technique or you need to increase speed (v). Taking steroids won't make a significant difference to punching speed and definitely won't improve technique.

Pacquiao is the BEST example.
Fear makes you believe things that are not really true, like Pacman being a monster puncher at 147.
His KO percentage actually went down, he only had one legit KO that was Hatton.
So where is this Pacman is a monster puncher all of a sudden coming form? its coming from Fear, from Floyd and his father they are scared and when you get scared you become a hypochondriac like worrying about your health and imagining a little beast in there. That is what fear does it makes you exaggerate claims like Pacman knocking out all these big men. He couldn't even KO a drained De La Hoya and he hit Oscar so many times.

This^
Its the truth.
heredia testified in front of a grand jury in the trial of trevor graham, a sprinting coahc witha prolific involvement with PED's.
heredia's testimony was part of a deal to keep him from facing jail time for his own involvement with steroids.

The way Pac flew up divisions without losing speed or anything, and battering durable big guys at 147....it was suspect.
But JMM is the most blatant example I've ever seen. The guy looks slow and dead at 147 initially.....then turns into a beast with back.acne all over that can punch people outta the ring now. Lol
you also have to consider who he started using for "strength and conditioning" as well.
angel heredia is a self professed steroid guru. he's pictured here in a german documentary buying gear and injecting himself.
