Good morning world! Sorry I have been MIA, as I have been preparing for my next bout July 12th as the Co feature in West. Deptford NJ under Chazz Witherspoon as the Main Event. No locked in opponent as of now but hopefully this week I will be able to post something. I just wanted to post my predictions for tonight.
We have good Boxing on tonight. I will be in Atlantic City watching the Glenn Tapia/Kennan Collins fight but on HBO you have Chris Algeri vs. Ruslan Provodnikov.
I'm calling it now, I firmly believe that Algeri is going to outbox Ruslan and become the new World Champion, though I also wouldn't be surprised if Ruslan wins by mid fight tko ONLY BECAUSE ALGERI HAD HIS WILL TAKEN, BUT if I was a betting man, my money is on Algeri.
Algeri is a good boxer with a gas tank. I follow him on social networks and see how he lives, eat and train. He always keeps in shape which is important in this sport. If Chris has a clear mindset and is not scared of Ruslan's none stop pressure style and his power.... I see a cake walk for Algeri. UD Win.
** Demetrius Andrade should handle Brian Rose pretty good. UD win for Andrade or possibly mid fight stoppage.
** I think Sean Monaghan will go life and death with Elvir Muriqi but will win the fight.
:boxing::boxing::la:
Provodnikov overrated as f*ck. What is it with this place and face first no skilled brawlers who have no answer for a guy who doesn't stand right in front of them?
Easy money
Kind of a waste of a Saturday night card, should be some mando defenses off of tv for the champs.
Not really, it could be much worse. I'm looking forward to my boy Andrade putting in good work against Rose and Ruslan showing his worth against a very solid challenger. This is a decent card, not great but could certainly be much, much worse.
Algieri has the "style" and physical structure to give Ruslan fits, this we all know. It really matters whether or not, Ruslan can impose his will and wear Algieri down to the point of taking away his mobility. This, even though it is probably viewed as a low-key fight, is very intriguing and will determine a lot about each of these two guys. I think this is one of the more interesting fights for the "hardcore" fight fans out there who really follow boxing and it will probably turn out to be one of the more memorable fights of the year.
I can't believe some of these posts! The only way Algieri wins is if the fix is in. I can't see him doing better than Alvarado. Provodnikov handled Alvarado in his own backyard in altitude. This should be an easy win for Provodnikov.
Yeah exactly man. I think some people see Algieri's undefeated record and look at how their styles match up, not taking into account experience. Chris had problems with a guy like Peralta and now he's taking a big step up in competition compared to the guys he's been fighting.
To me, he doesn't look that great in his past fights. Even worse when you realise he is outboxing(and not even dominating) C and D level guys.
Green K'd for your sign, never seen that one before. Funny as hell.
On topic, while I do see Algieri winning as a possibility, I am not sleeping on Provodnikov like most people on this thread are. Yes Provodnikov is more prone to being outboxed than most but he is also a relentless puncher. I have not seen that many fighters who get tagged with a hard shot and keep coming forward with no expression on their faces. Provodnikov took many hard shots from a pretty decent puncher in Alvarado but Provodnikov still found him and broke his will. I got Provodnikov in this one, but it's not an easy fight for him.
I was just going to say, good call man, Peralta is miles away from anything Provo does, and had he not had such a bad gas tank he would have had Chris out of there I think, still credit to Chris for winning but Provo is 10x the beast Peralta was.

Did anyone see Algieri fight Peralta? Rocked numerous times because he throws combinations with his hands low. He won in the end because Peralta gassed.
Ruslan is going to cut the ring off from Chris break him down and knock him out. Ruslan may even get him out of there early with a left hook while Algieri has his hands low while throwing a left uppercut. Algieri isn't really that slick.

If Algeri has some good lateral movement, he can fluster ruslan, but i dont think he has the power to keep ruslan honest, and eventually ruslan will walk him down and stop him around the 6th or 7th..
TBH I don't recall ever seeing Algieri, you guys say he's got the skills to pull off the upset but ... well I dunno. it would take somebody pretty special to beat ruslan so I'm just gonna assume ruslan can take care of business against a guy who's been fighting at a lower level till now.
Watching the Peralta fight. Provo can close that distance better than Peralta and his combos are a lot faster and more punishing. He can gas out too though if he punches himself out.
Algiri looked hurt in there sometimes too
I think he took the punches well. Visibly hurt a couple of times during the fight but he managed. I love his left uppercut and his body attack. This kid can mix it up a good deal but I also see it's not that hard to draw him into a firefight either. Towards mid to late rounds he smartened up and went back to boxing. I like what I see in this kid. That was a good fight.

I agree I think Algeiri has a good chance of taking this, its another 50 50 fight, and style match up between boxer vs. puncher.
Its going to be a good fight though
I'm with you Flake. I was also picking Algieri for this fight. I wish I had seen more of his fights cause I'd like to know how good his chin is. If his chin can hold up I definitely see him outboxing Provo. Should be a good fight though. Can't wait for tonight. All the best July 12th man
Edit: Good looking out Cubanbox, gonna watch that fight now.
I respect your opinion because you lace the gloves up for a living but you kinda covered your ass from all angles in your prediction.
You of all people know all the training in the world can't help when you're in the ring with a cold-blooded killer like Provodnikov. We'll see how his will to survive under extreme circumstances are (like Bradley.)
When **** gets real in there tonight, can Algeri survive? That's the question. I for one, do not know one thing about Algeri but imo it doesn't matter who Is on the other side of the ring against Provo, my statement remains the same ( just insert next boxers name where Algeri is.)
