Given the current situation with the split between Oscar and Shaefer and Floyd following Shaefer along with Floyd/Maidana underperforming ppv #'s and Showtimes $32mil guarantee per fight, Floyds next fight may very well be in interesting one because his choice of opponents are very limited.
-Khan is out of the question because of Ramadan
-Maidana would make an interesting rematch given the competitiveness of the first bout but will Showtime be interested in making that since their first fight brought in less than 900k buys?
-We all know him vs Pacquiao isnt going to happen so we can scratch that idea.
-Ive heard Porter and thurmans name thrown around but both these fights will flop as far as ppv buys
-Bradley is tied to TR so that isnt happening.
-I've heard Danny Garcias name thrown around but this will be a risky fight as well from a ppv standpoint. Garcia is no Cotto as far as generating Puerto Rican fan interest not to mention he looked like crap and arguably lost his last fight
Seems as if Floyd's only real option would be a rematch against Cotto which will definitely be a big sell. Cotto is a big name coming off a big win which Floyd likes to do. Question is, what weight will this fight be held at?
The only other somewhat marketable fight will be against Maidana if showtime is willing to take the risk.
Or maybe Floyd sits out his Sept date and waits for Khan and and fights him in the UK.
Your thoughts???......
Garcia or thurman are the easiest fights to make and those guys will come cheap compared to cotto or another big name.. Plus I don't know if roc nation n Haymon will make that fight
They very well could be if Floyd is able to get licensed to promote in Vegas. Haymon cant because he's the manager/advisor to these fighters and it would violate the Ali act, and Richard is still a stake holder in GBP and cant start a competiting promotional company due to stipulations in his contract.
He can't start a California based promotional company.
Any news on the Floyd/Haymon/Schaefer collaboration? Will TMT become a big player in the promotional part of the sport?

Another Floydiot OP possibly paid to start this thread. Who cares about Floyd, more people are starting to not care about watching his performances, his recent PPVs did not sell very well and more people are starting to realize Floyd was not entertaining after all. CBS/Showtime will still bleed money for him, why should Floyd even care, he still gets the shareholder's monies. We'll watch someone else more entertaining.
people who make it a point to comment on every thread with his name on it, and bring up his name when threads dont even involve him maybe?
Most likely Garcia as no one has heard a peep from team garcia in a while, i dont know if maidana gets the rematch to be honest but never know. I think Cotto will probably wait until a possible fight with Alvarez due to the Mexican vs Peurto Rican rivalry.
I'd rather see TBA retire from the sport and focus on his venture with Haymon and Schaefer in the promotional business. I mean TBA is the guy who is on top of Forbe's list of millionaires. He can easily fund the initial cost of the venture. His fans talk about how the world will end for Hoya when Schaefer leaves, yet they don't give us details on which promoter will Haymon fighters would go.
It's very likely. Not enough time to promote the fight, especially if the target is to pull another PPV blockbuster. Or they better be announcing the fight ASAP.
Not to mention he has no promoter at the moment.
Sept 13th is less than 3 months away. I see him postponing his ring return.

Cotto 2 and Alvarez 2 are the only choices for Money Mayweather that would guarantee PPV marketability. (Forget about Pacman.) He would have to fight either one in or around December. Or fight whoever he picks as scheduled in September and add very attractive undercards as usual. I think he's thinking of retirement. I don't see him rushing for his next fight. Otherwise, they would have been announcing his next fight considering the abysmal number they got from his last fight.
Again, who has ever been able to draw without a big name opponent?
It's common sense. It doesn't no matter how big of a star you are you need a dance partner to draw good numbers.
Again....I dont disagree with you but once again....When Floyd goes around taking credit for ALL the ppv purchases when his fights do big numbers, his feet will be held to the fire when his ppv #'s are poor.
I think we all know this but when Floyd goes around taking credit for ALL the ppv purchases then his feet will be held to the fire when he cant draw without a big name opponent.

When doesn't a big draw need an opponent with a big fan base to do good numbers?
The only time that's happened is Tyson-McNeeley and that was solely because it was Tyson's first fight since he'd been released from Prison.

The promotion for a Cotto Rematch with all belts on the line and the Freddie Roach angle would be Massive, and if they choose to do it in MSG OMG!
How are all three belts gonna be on the line??? If Cotto defends the mw title and comes in at 155+ like he did vs Sergio, he can't win the ww and jr mw titles Floyd has.
