Hey guys,
Hoping someone can make me feel a bit better about my purchase after another bad experience trying to get tickets for a fight. Long story short - I'm coming from Australia to watch Golovkin v Geale at MSG. Had access to presale the moment it started but best tickets sucked (Section 12 - $500) so I decided to wait out the public sale. Accessed that the second it started and seats were worst, best seats were Section 01, Row 6, Seats 1-4 ($300). Apart from the fact that is pi$$ed that again fans couldn't get access to any of the decent floor seats, I'm now stuck with a potentially bad seat after travelling across the world for this fight.
Can anyone tell me what the view from Section 01 is like? Is it better than Section 12, even though it's cheaper ($300 vs $500). Can I still walk around the rest of the flor level from Section 01? Any help would be much appreciated guys.
I went to the Garden on Cotto-Margarito II fight night and let me tell you. That place gets rocking! The atmosphere is very hard to put into words. You'll find all types of people too. The seats I bought were in the nose bleed but what we did is we got there early, waited an hour before the PPV (around 8) and moved down a few levels and scoped out some empty seats. Afterwards we went to the hot dog vendor down the block and saw Allen Medina who was just KO'd by Mike Lee on the untelevised undercard. He was cool and thanked us for coming out to see him lol
That fight had a ridiculous atmosphere! One of the loudest live crowds youll ever see in the US

Thanks bro, I'm really looking forward to being there. Would kill to see Cotto fight there though!

I was at the Cotto vs Martinez fight section 101, I had a great view. I have had floor seats before and its like everybody else says, some people stand up for any punch their fighter lands which can become very annoying. Also depending where you sit on the floor the ropes and turnbuckle can block your view. Sitting in the 100 level seats gives you a nice view looking over the ropes. The atmosphere was amazing that night, I thought I was going to go deaf after the first knockdown. :boxing:
Thanks mate, I'm starting to wish I got the 100 area seats. I'm hoping that the floor level seats that are just below the 100 section seats are tiered, so at least I get an elevated view. Could you see if the floor seats below section 101 were tiered or all at ground level? The section that I'm in is directly below 101.

Dude is shady as hell.... at least he looks shady. Honestly if I'm a fighter and he comes to sign me dressed like that, I wonder if he snuck out of an insane asylum.
But yea... I wouldn't trust that
Yeah I definitely wasn't gonna pull the trigger on that one, especially travelling all the way to New York only to get told my tickets didn't exist.
I got section 1 Row 19, Seats 1,2
100 per
Good work, I'm only 13 rows in front of you and paid $200 more. Either I got ripped off or there is some massive difference in the view from those seats (My guess is I got ripped off).
Hahaha. I actually email Gary Shaw to find out when tickets went on sale and below are the actual emails:
Me: (I sent an email asking what date the tickets went on sale)
Gary Shaw: what price range
Me: $500, for 3 or 4 people.
Gary Shaw: i need a definite amount and a check or wire transfer
This was all replied from a different email address to the one I sent the initial email to. Either Gary acts the way he looks or some idiot hacked his email and actually thought I would send money for tickets with no guarantee at all.

They can be. I got ringside for GGG's first America fight in Verona... second row... but I was near the corner of the ring where the freaking Cameraman spent most of the time standing in front of.
I did get t be up and close with Brandon Gonzalez's fat ass and i think I sat behind Gary Shaw.
I'm assuming it's him because he was fat, old, dressed like **** and had a belt with him

They got 25 and 50 dollar tickets. I bought a 100 one, I'll honestly be spending more getting there than for the actual fight
I hear you bro. Thankfully i'll be in LA anyway but so far return flights from LAX were $605aud, Fight was about $370aud and accommodation will be about $330aud for 3 nights. Expensive weekend but this sport is worth it.
Very good point. I should be happy with just being there anyway. Floor seats are a big gamble if they're in the wrong position.

Yea I hate that ****. I stay away from floor seats now. Not worth the money. The experience and the electricity of the garden is something that can't be reproduced. I've been to fights in Vegas.. Puerto Rico, California, Miami... Nothing can beat the Garden for me. So much history and when that place is sold out with all boxing fans... Nothing like it. The roof got blown off during that first round of the Cotto Martinez fight. Be careful they might relocate The GGG fight cause they might need to do more renavations lmao
Hahaha, I can't imagine the noise in that place after that first knockdown.
it's in the arena. I think they opened up 9,000 seats for it.
All this discussion about the MSG experience makes me want to go now. Might have to drop a few on some tickets...

i've been ringside at dozens of fights, but never at MSG. i had media credentials for several years, and covered fights in massachusetts and connecticut.
it's a matter of angles and distance. floor seats can be worse for an overall view than the first few rows of the loge. if the fight is on your side of the ring, it can be a great view at ringside. if you're not close, though, stuff in the wrong parts of the ring can be nearly impossible to see. you can get a completely different view of the fight if the exchanges don't take place near you.

you travelling half way around the world to support a good boy?

Hahaha, love the memorial photo. Yeah i'll be supporting my fellow Aussie, but I'm not blind enough to see what could very well happen. Having said that Geale is a mover and has a decent punch output. The only thing that will slow that punch output is if he can't take Golovkin's power. We'll see I suppose. (BTW I'm a big fan of GGG as well.)
is that fight in the arena or the theater

You got ripped off bro, sorry man. The prices for those seats were ATROCIOUS.
I probably agree with you bro, I've paid less for better fights (e.g. Maidana v Lopez was less than half the price for floor seats). Having said that this is a once a year thing for me, I only get the chance to travel once a year (if that) and it just so happens that the fight is on while I'm in the US, so even for $500 I jumped at the chance of getting a ticket. Every fight in Australia is pay per view (even the regular Showtime and HBO bouts that you get for free as part of your subscription) so we're used to paying ridiculous money to get our boxing fix.
Agree with you about people standing up bro, so annoying when you've paid a fortune for tickets. Must have been an experience to see Cotto v Martinez, I was speechless in that first round!!!
