The word "elite", like a P4P list, is highly subjective and therefore debatable. I consider as elite the fighters who have separated themselves from the pack with their achievements and/or who are, or at least appear to be, head and shoulders above the others. Having too many close fights (wins or losses) disqualify you from being elite in my opinion.
My criterias to define elite fighters would be a mix between 1)Achievements 2)Skills 3)Domination (you have to dominate good fighters clearly and only close fights against fellow elite fighters are acceptable).
I thought it would be interesting to see lists of boxers that boxing fans here regard as elite.

He's borderline to me. I don't see anything special either but I'm trying to base it on what they have proven and he has basically unified his division and holds all of the belts. (Peterson's belt is a fluke). I have a really hard time not calling a unified lineal champion an elite fighter. And let's not forget 140 was one of the strongest divisions in boxing and Garcia was the last man standing.
I think if he can somehow get that WBO title from Ruslan it would push him across.
It makes sense. He cleaned out 140 and has proven his worth with wins over Khan and Matthysse. I guess he can be regarded as an elite fighter depending on your own criteria. He deserves to be there based on his accomplishments.
He reminds me of Mares, not stylistically but because of the way he wins. Both men have had many close fights and have looked vulnerable, whereas guys like Floyd, Ward or Wlad look near invincible. Even before the Jhonny fight, I never thought Mares was an elite fighter. That's why I have boxers like Gamboa and Mikey above them on my list. Danny and Mares both have much better resumes but Gamboa and Mikey possesses better skills and never had close fights.
Good list. I disagree with Danny though and I would have said this before the Herrera fight. I just don't see something special when I watch his fights. He is just good.
What makes him elite?

Those are the only truly elite fighters in the sport. If we're talking elite for a division, I'd post different, but elite within the context of the entire sport? That's it.
Good list. I'll add Cotto and Mikey G. Bradley is an honorable mention.
I agree with the base list and the additions, except I'd swap Garcia and Bradley on the honorable mention bit. I would also add Donaire despite his recent performances.

Cotto
The winner of Canelo/Lara
Mayweather
Pacquiao
Bradley
Marquez
D. Garcia (debateable but he meets my criteria)
Donaire
Rigondeaux
Some guys like GGG are on their way but those fighters have been proven at the world class level against top notch competition and have beaten the very best in their division.

Well he beat up Bradley better than elite pacquiao did.And yes i realize he also got beat up worse than pac did but the fight itself was more entertaining than the 2 bradley fights with pac put together. i sort of think he is elite for simply what he brings to the table and would make an interesting fight for any of the top guys in the division.

GGG is probably elite, but its hard to say at this point, considering the biggest names on his resume are Macklin and rosado (legit opponents, but still).

In the lighter weight clasees i'd like to see more of Paul Butler and i'm not quite sure what to maker of Omar Narvaez.

Bradley has dominated many good boxers: Alexander, Peterson, Abregu. These fights were not even close. He is a multi-dimensional fighter and he holds a win over Marquez.
His only close win is Provodnikov.
Pacquiao doesn't count?
The bolded part is why I think Tim Bradley shouldn't be on the P4P list.
